This will be a thread where I will play out the personal day to day experiences of the Emperor of the Arretines. I'm hoping this will flesh out more of their culture than what I have done until the point.

Emperor Martinus looked down at the stack of paper below him. At the very bottom of the last page there lay a single line, one for his signature, his mark of approval. It had been over three hundred years since such an establishment existed in Arretine government, but he believed it was time to bring them back. Before him sat ten men, all of whom would become the first temporary senators in the Arretine Senate. It was a momentous occasion for Arretium, at least for the people. Of course the Senate would have no measurable power again the Emperor, but it would take a significant load off of him in terms of day to day administration.

"Let it be known from this point on, that the Arretine Empire has begun a great step, realizing the traditions set forth by our ancestors in the ancient Tiburan Empire. It is with my hope that this Senate can provide for the will of people better than any one man. I hope soon to expand this great Senate, to a more appropriate size of sixty men, with representatives from each former kingdom."

He smiled for a camera ahead of him and proceeded to sign the bill. Too bad democracy wasn't really winning.

Martinus took off his suit jacket as he entered to chambers in the Imperial Palace. He had always thought of getting away to a smaller, more remote place. However, during the conflict with the Ionians, his military command had convinced him to stay in the capital. He walked over to his extensive wine rack and began to browse his selection. His eyes settled on a slightly dusty bottle, Agregentum 1896. Not exactly the best year for the Empire, but he was sure it was a good year for this particular wine. He took it off the rack and uncorked it, and poured himself a glass. He made his way to his personal office, and sat down at his desk.

In front of him were the extensive notes he had been taking of his situation. The Ionians we pressing him harder than he thought, but at the moment popular international opinion seemed far more balanced that he imagined. Some nations weren't even thinking it was the Arretines who aggressed. In reality, he thought, I suppose we never actually did. He knew now he must do his utmost to recruit the other Imperial governments of the Long Sea to band together into a powerful alliance. Auraria, Sikandara, and the Eternal Empire. He didn't know much about the Anti-State, in fact they were some what of a mystery. Most Arretine contact had been done years prior to his administration, all of which were brief. Even more aged Arretine records on them were woefully incomplete. He sighed to himself and took a long sip of his wine, it was time to settle in for a long night.

What was playing out in Wendziema greatly fascinated him, but he wasn't quite certain of what to make of everything. What drove Martinus was his ultimate desire to reunite the ancient Tiburan Empire's territory, however his more immediate goal was to secure Long Sea dominance. Up until now the Arretines had been keeping the rest of the powers in good balance, even making friends again with the Aurarians to the north. Now though, if Wendziema is eliminated, especially with the... radical government of Újország. While the communism from Wenziema could pose a threat, they were weakened from civil war, and their new leader was moderate enough. But if they fell, it would change everything about the balance of power in the region.

He reclined in his chair, twiddling his pencil in his hand. This was the perfect opportunity for his empire, with both occupied, it would leave the Arretines unchecked. He hurriedly began to scribble down notes on his plans, shuffling his papers back and forth. He would have to present his new plan to his military advisers.

His newest plans would have to go on hold, and his ideas for a space program had to be accelerated immediately. Some of the essential war technologies he had hoped to deploy in the future depended on the success of a more advanced space program. He would have to begin his series of proposals immediately. Luckily, the creation of a Senate had taken some pressure off of him when it came to less important civil matters, and the people had responded well to it. It was time to take everything to the next level.
