BANTYR AGREES TO TRADE SUMMIT WITH KAYATHA AND WARRE
by Moira Le

With the Ringgit facing another year of hard devaluation, a concrete effort to rejuvenate the Kayathna Economy has finally manifested itself, with a serious Trade Summit proposed to be held between the Bantyr Republic, the Kingdom of Warre, Kayatha, and other Gaeltracht Nations. Although efforts to bail out the struggling economy have come from Warreic businesses and the government before, they were mostly focused on trying to restart the Tourism Industry. However, for various reasons, Kayatha was a less than popular Tourist destination, and the trickles of visitors did little to counterbalance the growing debt. Increasing PLF Insurgency outside of the Armistice Zone has also strained public opinions of the Unionist Government, which faces a hard election in 2012 if it is unable to halt the decline of the Ringgit, and fast.

"The Summit is more than simply another round of talks about bailouts, but an effort to co-ordinate a multi-national economic investment plan, to ensure the mutual prosperity of all." Confirmed Chancellor Azlan Hock. "We are giving serious thought to all sectors, and evaluating seriously all options for restoring flagging growth in this nation."

Though bold words have been spoken, the Liberal Opposition remains unconvinced, and Spokesperson Basit Tazman has firmly stated that "more quick fixes and talks with our old masters will not restore the underlying problem, which is a lack of political and commercial independence in this country. Only an abandonment of national timidity and a bold, aggressive entry into the Global Free Market will secure Kayah Tanah's future."

Whatever the outcome, it can only be good news for the struggling Middle and Working Classes, who have long competed ferociously for government attention. Most neglected of all remains the Interior, which even outside of the Armistice Zone remains desperately impoverished. Perhaps this Summit will restore hope to regions of the country that have long become fatalistic about politics.

TRADE SUMMIT DISRUPTED BY ANTI-REALPOLITIK PROTESTS
By Moira Le

As the Trade Summit delegates begin to arrive in Bandar Emas for prolonged discussion about the future of Pan-Gaeltacht economic investment in Kayatha, sizeable protests have been scheduled to occur along the Way of Flowers and in Keemasan Lingkaran Plaza.("Golden Circle Plaza")

Consisting of groups largely sponsored by the Secessionist Coalition and some fringe elements of the Liberal Party, the Protests are against the recent conclusion of talks with People's Republic of Serreniere by the Kingdom of Warre, which prompted Serreniere's Pravdarag to proclaim it a "friendly North Borean nation." Many hardline subscribers to the Oikawan-brand of Liberalism consider it a moral betrayal of decades of economic progressivism for our brother-nation to engage in such realpolitik with a country closely tied to Vangala, long notorious for its participation in arms and drugs-smuggling rings with the PLF.

"No Peace with the Reds! The only good Communist is a Dead Communist!" shouted one rowdy bunch of protesters. Concerns that ultra-liberal vanguardists would attempt to disrupt the proceedings proved mercifully unfounded, and the protests that have occurred so far have been relatively peaceful.

In other news, a long-running case brought by the People against the Supreme Court of Kayah Tanah on the legality of abortion has finally come to a conclusion, with abortion remaining legal into the second trimester. Plans by Mothers Against Infant Murder to pursue the case further- which is only possible under Kayathan Law by submitting a petition to the King of Warr- are already under way, and this move in of itself is generating enormous controversy, amongst both pro-life groups and pro-choice, who worry that the move will bring into play various Constitutional issues that have been disputed for decades.

Increasing numbers of Kayathna students opt now to study in universities abroad, seeking the recognition of more established and respected educational establishments to bring back to Kayah Tanah. With the exception of the University of CarrickTherran, Kayah Tanah's universities have enjoyed a notoriously poor record since the beginning of the 70s, when thousands of students were found to be complicit with the PLF and were detained by the government in Re-Education Camps. Although recent President Sheann Khoo apologised for this "Blue Terror" only three years ago, much information about that period of history remains firmly classified.

BOAT PEOPLE FROM KEIDA TO BE TURNED BACK
By Panomyaong Kusumo

The Waters of the South Touzen Seas churn once again with the heady thrum of motors, as a massive fleet descends once more on Kayah Tanah. But it is not the Oikawans this time, come to pillage and despoil our Royal land. Rather it is the flotsam and jetsam of the Keidan Republic, all its undesirables, forcibly evicted to the mercies of the Implarian currents. Many are no doubt descending on Wing Sing, overcrowded metropolis as it is, like rats thrown from a sinking ship.

Kayah Tanah has long been a port-of-call for Keidans fleeing one thing or another, yet unlike our esteemed forefathers, they have not come willingly, to establish their own lives, and take responsibility for themselves. They have not come as our great Warreic brothers did, to forge new destinies for themselves, and bring the glories of Unity, Monarchy and Honour to our divided islands. Rather they come to squat, to take jobs, and to sponge off of our generosity.

It is thus with considerable suprise I can report that the Kayathan Coast Guard has taken strong steps to deter the arrival of this fresh wave of asylum seekers. Although Kayah Tanah is not permitted its own Navy, our Coast Guard is a formidable force in its own right, consisting of many dozens of Patrol Boats and more than a few second-hand Warreic Destroyers. The Unionist Government, keen to be seen to be proactive, given the election occurring next year, has pledged to be "tough on illegal immigration" promising that the very strict quotas will be enforced rigidly.

"We are not unsympathetic to the plight of these Boat people. But regrettably, if we shared all that we have to everyone, we would very soon have nothing." confirmed a spokesperson for the Homeland Ministry. "We are happy to help them find their way to other, more welcoming nations, but we will not permit more than the legal maximum to land on our shores. Any who do make it assure are likely to be picked up by Police or the Army." Although many criticise Kayah Tanah's harshness towards potential immigrants, few can dispute that Kayah Tanah has managed, against all the odds, to control its growth over the last 10 years, where once it was explosively overcrowded, to such an extent that many attribute this as a key factor in the Civil War which damaged our proud nation not so long ago.

Although the problem then was the unmanageable number of unemployed, starving proletariat, there is little difference between the Communist Peasant and the exiled Asylum seeker of the Keidans, and though we may be tempted to sympathise with them, it is important that a rational policy be pursued, for the benefit of us all.

ALLIANCE TALKS CONFIRMED OCCURRING AT MEAROG MOR
by Moira Le

Rumours of a definite Alliance being concluded between Bantyr, Warre and Kayah Tanah in Warre are being increasingly confirmed by cautious statements issued from Méaróg Maor. High-level talks between Ministers have been ongoing in secret at the highly guarded Warreic location for some time now, however, a Press Statement was released earlier today.

Although rumours have been flying around the internet of a millitary gathering in the Hyborean Province for nearly a week, the official release has confirmed that a formal alliance is being concluded between the Hyborean Nations and Kayah Tanah. Although most celtic representatives have been quiet, Warre has authorised the following statement:
"There's no reason to view this meeting with suspicion [for those nations who are not invited], it is simply a reaffirming of previous ties and treaties, and an attempt to make more multilateral agreements, to allow the peoples of the nations mentioned to be more free."

In addition, details were released confirming that this was an attempt to formalise and unify dozens of existing treaties and agreements, some dating back centuries, between the Celtic Powers and their Colonies, and to create a solid, partly Defensive, Alliance framework. Although a "Gaeltracht Pact" has long been discussed in political theorist circles, especially since the end of the Great Eastern War, it has never been considered a priority by those involved untill now.

It is suspected that, should this Alliance indeed be concluded, it could see many other Celtic Nations participating in the bi-annual War Games that occur between Warre and Kayah Tanah. It would also be a full and frank recognition of Kayah Tanah as an independent Power, equal to Warre and Bantyr, and not its subservient colony any longer.

MINISTER OF EDUCATION ARRESTED FOR CHILD TRAFFICKING!
by Panomyaong Kusumo

It's being hailed as the "Crime of the Century", as the shocking news has emerged that the Arrest earlier in the week of the Minister of Education was not over "suspicions of ill-doing" but in fact, what can now be confirmed to be trafficking in children.

"This is a most heinous crime and we are treating it with the utmost seriousness." Confirmed Detective Inspector Sadri of the National Investigations Division. "We remind the Media that whilst the suspect may hold a governmental position, it is our full intention to pursue this as if it were any other case."

According to official police press releases, the alleged involvement of Lim-ke Ou-yang, the current Unionist Minister of Education, was first suspected 2 years ago. However, the Police waited in order to build up what they believe is a "water-tight" case against the Minister. "Having said that, we will be doing everything strictly by the book, and the case is being brought to the highest authority in Kayah Tanah." confirmed the Inspector.

The full nature of the crime is unclear, but it seems apparent that Mr. Ou-yang is being accused of independently- seperate from his official capacity as Education Minister- collaborating in a child trafficking ring, which imports and exports children from a number of Implarian countries for the "private and confidential" and definitely illegal use by private businessmen, be it for child labour or much more heinous purposes.

The Unionist Party has been quick to distance itself from Mr. Ou-yang, and has confirmed via press-release its intentions to co-operate fully with the National Investigations Division. It has declined to take any action against Mr. Ou-yang, however, stating that, "for the duration of the investigation the Vice Minister of Education will assume full duties, but Mr. Ou-yang will remain in office. We are confident he will be found innocent."

The Liberal Party has declined to comment on the situation, but other minority parties have been quick to capitalise, and demanded further investigation into what Mr.Ou-yang might have done in his official capacity. The Secessionist Coalition were quick to point that Warreic Businessmen were also likely customers, though this has entirely failed to make any sort of impact except amongst the most paranoid of online communities.

VESPER, THURSDAY, 14th APRIL 2011

Bemjamin Stokes, Chief Colonial Officer for Foreign Affairs, has been instructed to encode the following dispatch from
Felix Ilchester, the Chancellor of the Commonwealth of Cantigny

To the Imperial Warreic Subjects of Kayah Tanah

If ever a bridge of trust between oceanic nations of the Implarian could be erected, this would be the time, while the public's attention is poised upon one of the many accessories of the illicit trafficking of children from and in to Kayah Tanah. This is but an inkling of the severe abuse of human beings that exists here and throughout Europe. The Commonwealth of Cantigny is committed to pursuing the wretched criminals who facilitate human trafficking, and prays that Kayah Tanah persists in its commitment to the same.

CAMBRIA TO BE WELCOMED INTO GAELTRACHT PACT?
by Moira Le

What began as a trilateral defence pact between Kayah Tanah and its traditional defensive partners, Bantyr and Warre, has now apparently expanded into an ambitious multi-national, truly pan-Celtic Alliance. What began as mere rumours have now been confirmed as an actual "Gaeltracht Pact".

"This isn't the first time we have had talks about greater defensive co-operation. However, never before has the political and economic situation been so favourable to such intergration in all the respective nations- untill now." confirmed Bhrian Ke, the Envoy for Kayah Tanah. Although Kayah Tanah and Abalach were never official parts of it, many are still calling the Pact as a "revivification of the An Lyr Empire", a term that carries with it much unfortunate historical weight, having been used repeatedly in the past by Celtic Nationalists of all sorts, including those involved in the Great Hyborean War.

Warre has been more cautious in its representation of the high-level talks, however, having released minimal material to its domestic Press. "The inclusion of Cambria in these talks is only logical, but it remains to be seen if we can truly forge something lasting and unique out of them."

It has been confirmed that Kayah Tanah has offered the use of CarrickTherran's naval yards as a maritime headquarters for the Celtic nation's fleets, but this offer has been declined, as not all those participating have much interest in the Implarian Ocean. Ironically, Kayah Tanah's presence in the talks may be hindering them, for all that the Unionist envoys are pursuing it enthusiastically.

The Liberal Party has confirmed that it would not be "so eager" to sign up the country into a permanent global defence pact, with "uncertain commitments." The Secessionist Coalition has gone further, saying that rather Kayah Tanah should seek to be part of an Implarian Coalition with its ethnic and historical neighbours. "Keida, Khalistan, even Thaesan...these and other nations should be looked to as potential allies, and not just as ancient enemies and untrustworthy trade partners."

Even if the talks ultimately prove unsuccessful, Kayah Tanah's prominence in high-level defensive integrration talks with Celtic nations half a world away are bound to have long lasting effects on foreign relations, aswell as domestic politics, with many people still complaining bitterly about the lack of jobs and a rocky economy buoyed more by growing debts than true growth. To many critics and average folk, the enemy is not potential foreign powers but the poverty and crime on the streets.

"It's all well and good pledging ships to Cambria and Bantyr, are they ever going to need them? No! We need some attention here on the real fight. The drug-runners, the child-traffickers and the arms-dealers." said a Mr.Heiwan(56) posting on our website.

"I for one am pleased that we're being treated as equals by the Celtic Nations at last. They can't ignore us, and we will show them that we deserve more than the occasional loan, like a bribe to keep us quiet." said Ms.Katrye Kiambang.(20)

SAINT-PRINCESS TO BE WELCOMED BACK FOR SUMMER TOUR
by Panomyaong Kusumo

Saint-Princess Aislyn naTherran, Crown Princess of Warre and officially the highest representative of the Ard Ri in Kayah Tanah, will be making a full summer tour this year, to mark the 430th Anniversary of the Battle of Gellangtua, which marked the beginning of total Warreic rule over Kayah Tanah. Although something of a controversial figure, the Saint-Princess has proved remarkably popular with certain segments of the population, including many young Kayathan and Kayathna girls who see her as a style icon. Aislyn is not widely considered to be strong "leadership material" however, and is often seen as something of an embarassment by more serious Unionist politicians.

Despite this, her official Procession through the streets of CarrickTherran, from the National Airport to her Residence in the Royal Donal-Tyrell Palace, is expected to draw a crowd of some 200,000, with the CarrickTherran Police department in close collaboration with Royal security personnel to ensure the route is properly policed.

"The Royal Procession is an uncommon event, but not unheard of. This will be the first time we have seen Princess Aislyn participate in one, however, and will be a significant landmark in ongoing Kayathan-Warreic ties." stated Chief Police Commissioner Fook at a press conference.

"I am confident that the visit will also boost our economy." he added, in a line believed added to his speech by officials from the Ministry of Tourism.

Whilst there are many disgusted by the idea of continuing to support and indulge a "foreign" monarchy, and others intrigued by the glamour of an official Royal Procession, it is clearly a shrewd move by the Saint Princess, who knows that securing her popularity in Kayah Tanah is a good testing ground for obtaining support elsewhere in the Warreic Realm.

KAYAH TANAH TO STAND WITH GAELTRACHT PACT TRADE WAR AGAINST NORTHERN COUNCIL
by Moira Le

What has untill now largely been ignored by both the Press and the Kayathan Government is the developing trade crises between Bantyr, Warre, Batavie, Vistrasia and Cantigny. A series of seemingly unrelated incidents has culminated in what is now an official, full-blown trade war, as the imposition of 1000% tariffs on Bantyr has led to retaliation in kind.

Speaking on behalf of the Kayathan Government, Finance Minister Liam Ongbak confirmed that Kayah Tanah would be standing with its Gaelic partners in the unfolding situation. "Whilst we have long been informal friends and allies, I can now confirm that the ongoing discussions at Maerog Mor have bloomed and flowered. As a result, one of the articles we are committed to is assisting our allies in time of need. We choose to interpret that by guaranteeing a Free Trade Zone in the Southeast Implarian for all neutral and pro-Gaelic nations. Any Northern Council ships wishing to trade within Kayathna territorial waters will be turned back. Failure to heed this and we will impound them for the duration of the Trade War."

This is a historic and suprising commitment to a devestating spat between nations. Many in the Kayah Tanah business community are already fuming at what they see as a "devestatingly pointless" move on the part of the Unionist Government. Although of late a fragile economy, many are concerned that excluding even minor trade partners like the Northern Council could seriously damage the recovery. On the other hand, others conjecture that the increased rarity of rubber will cause a dip on the resale market, and provide a temporary windfall for companies looking to capitalise on the FTZ, who might otherwise have gone to the Northern Council instead.

"Frankly any benefit from this will be negilible in financial terms. But President Khoo has always made a point of wanting closer ties with the Gaels, and of making a statement about Kayah Tanah as being in the "western" or "northern" sphere rather than a dirty, "oriental" nation in the southern." said one analyst boldly.
"Long term, its doubtful itll affect foreign policy conducted by other nations towards the An Lyr successor states. Kayah Tanah is too far, and has its own problems."

With petitions already piling up on the internet in protest, it remains to be seen how this bold stand against the Northern Council will be taken internationally.

BANTYRIC LOANS FALL THROUGH AS KAYATHNA DEBT IS CALLED IN
by Moira Le

The situation internationally has rapidly developed from a distant squabble of little concern to an Earthquake sending ripples throughout the world, with tremors reaching even our own country. Notably, the Bank of Kayah Tanah has reluctantly announced that, because Bantyr is withdrawing the loans it has sent to us, inflation will be a stunning 8% by the end of this year, as Kayah Tanah struggles to pay off its remaining debts and fund many of its unprofitable industries, which were floating on state-provided Bantyric loan money.

"The situation is dire, but not quite at Recession levels yet." said one spokesperson for the Treasury, Mr. Dak Ong. "We are currently exploring all avenues to secure additional revenue abroad." The full nature of the crisis is only slowly starting to become apparent, as the Government has placed a strict injunction on all attempts to access government financial records at this time. "We are quite capable of handling the situation. It is Liberals not Unionists who create Recessions." joked the outspoken Chancellor today. "We brought this country out of one Recession, we are not going to plunge it into another. We have plans in motion." He said confidently.

Whilst the Government is putting on a brave face and maintaining high confidence, investors are starting to lose their nerve, and are wondering, now that Bantyr has pulled out, wether they should to, as the burden now falls squarely on Mother country Warre to once again carry Kayah Tanah's debts.

Other, more radical elements have been quick to criticise these developments, pointing out the dangers of tying the ringgit so closely to celtic currencies, and of the irresponsibility of joining into such a close, formal alliance with Bantyr and other celtic countries at this time of instability. "A Free and Independent Kayah Tanah would not be so beholden to foreign capitalists." said one poster, PLF4eva77, on our Website. "It is blatantly clear that the Corrupt Unionists are once again fiddling with the public finances, to hide blatant holes in the budget. When was the last time anyone saw any Gold in our banks?" said another poster, Postdelegationismftw.

It is not clear how the Unionists will address this problem, but it is clear that it has been simmering for a long time, and that the withdrawl of Bantyric backing was the straw that broke the camel's back.
