"News for the Ketswayoni people, by the Ketswayoni people."

Stock market shoots up as government reports great gains in the economy, despite fears of foreign harassment.

The stock reported a sharp increase today after Elder Mandla Siyanda of the Ubani Tribe announced the Council of Elder's latest report on the growth and expansion of the economy under their Five-Year Expansion plan. It detailed the growing strength of the Union industrial sector and the increased income from the food exports to other countries. Industries such as production of refined metals, vehicles, consumer items, and military arms are being expanded and the farms are becoming more and more productive as better tools and equipment are brought in. Discovery of raw resources such as natural gas, metals, and hopefully even oil are currently underway, but the foundation for a better economic return this quarter has been laid.

This was an amazing increase, as increasing reports of protests and fears across the Union about the companies and corporations of foreign nations creeping into Ketswayo, with reports of Ardanii International stock's being bought up in great swathes and other companies moving into the industrial sector and causing some Ketswayoni companies to suffer. Some companies, such as Isihlahla Pharmaceuticals, have been forced to file bankruptcy or make deals with other corporations for a merger to save their companies. Furthermore, the foreign companies and their host nation's governments are forming lobbies that are petitioning the Watchfire Council to open up the country to their companies more and more. While intense protests have so far seen little progress by them, many are worried as more and more appear, that they'll start to make headway any day now.

The government has promised to look into it and has provided financial support for the companies, providing some stability in the market but many wonder whether or not this will last, as those promoting and protesting this trend gather political strength. But even with all this, the Ketswayoni people and their nation have their burgeoning economy and independence to be proud of, and the future can only hold greater heights of achievement for the Union.

Council of Elders announces plan to open relations with the international community

Elder Mandla Siyanda was the spokesperson for the Council of Elders as they finished their month-long deliberation on the issue of Ketswayo and its international interests. They were investigating the steps that the Tribal Union should take regarding its interests on the global stage as well as what friends it can make and what nations to keep an eye on. The result of their investigation is that Ketswayo's economy will need to make contact with foreign nations to grow and prosper and if their programs were to be expanded upon, they would need the proper capital.

This is coming after the four or so decades of relative isolation the Union has undergone, working on building its economy up and solidifying its democratic processes. Many have protested this move, citing the need to maintain a distance from the international community due to the inevitable control struggles foreign nations will undergo over their nation and that their claim to legitimacy and being treated as equals would be treated with scorn. But some, like the Ubungane Party, which has been pushing for such a move for some time. "The Tribal Union needs to be connected with the outside world, lest we stagnate and fall into a position of weakness again, much like we did with the ancient Himyaran Empire,' says Ubungane Party spokesperson Bongali Ububomvu. "Contact with the world will lead to greater prosperity and recognition for the Union."

To facilitate this move, the Union has sent invitations throughout the world for nations to put embassies and open diplomatic relations with the Union, as well as inviting investment and trade with the Union, though a stern advisory warning was put in to not attempt to flood the market with their companies and money and to follow the laws in Ketswayo. Furthermore, it was announced that the Elders would be putting forth a proposal to join the Council of Nations to the Watchfire Council this week.

Still, even with all of this, some are skeptical. "I don't see the point of this." Nomusa Phakama, resident of the capital city of Usiku. "Europe and other nations of the world treated Himyari as a place to make their empires and get the resources they needed to fuel their own nations and even today they look at us like barbarians who still roll around in the mud. The effort would be better spent on making friends with other Himyari nations and focusing on our collective economies and interests in Himyar."

We strongly suggest that the government of Ketswayo adopt a more religiously tolerant policy.

Re: Religious tolerance

Father Basil,

I am quite shocked at your expression of the idea that the government is behind the riots that occurred in Amanga the other day. We have built into our constitution the liberty of freedom of worship; to worship whatever god(s) or deities that you wish without state regulation. The riot that occurred is still being investigated, with the initial investigation showing that it is motivated by discrimination against the Catholic Church in Ketswayo.

The people are frightened, and rightly so, of foreign powers attempting to manipulate the Union for their own ends. We've had reports of economic duplicity already and seeing as the Ketswayo Catholic Church has many foreign backers, it is not too far an assumption to see it as being a subtle agent on their behalf. However, we do not agree with the destructive riot as a way of showing their displeasure and mistrust of this organization and we are taking steps to prevent another.

We will ensure the Church is allowed to preach and do its work without being molested or harmed. However, we also will not tell our people to trust or like this organization simply because you demand so. The Church knew the dangers coming here, with the issue of fighting against the major religion for converts. They came here, in spite of that. So they will need to be prepared to get egg on their faces, if they intend to stay.

The idea that Ascalon lectures other nations on religious tolerance strikes us as highly ironic.

We would like to extend our commitments to Ketswayo and offer a more solid agreement of Friendship, Support and Free Trade. We highly value Ketswayo's friendship and hope they will not feel intimidated by foreign powers eager to criticise their distinctive and Nethian style of governance and society. We hope that said foreign powers who feel they know better on how to govern parts of the World that are not their own will not attempt to assert this pressure.

"I thank the the Foreign Affairs offices of Carentania and Umbazi for their support. I especially would like to also extend our commitment to Umbazi. The Union values the Republic's friendship and we only wish to get along with our neighbors in Himyar. As you heard in our news, there is a summit planned to open up the Union to the world, you are most cordially invited to come. This offer is extended to Carentania and even Ascalon, where we can smooth over any problems you have."

We advise our friends in Ascalon to avoid instigating conflicts with other nations at this time. We feel it is unruly and dangerous to do so due to the unstable nature of the region. We are also pleased to hear that Ketswayo is planning to open up to the international community, and we agree with Umbazi's warning about Neo-Imperialism in modern Himyar. It is a very real and unfortunate factor of our continent, and we urge Ketswayo to ensure their culture is not lost.

We clearly mis-read the article. For this, we apologize. We welcome Ketswayo to the international community.

As a fellow Himyari nation, the government of Yombantu opens its arms to the nation-state of Ketswayo in friendship and in hopes of establishing relations with said nation. It is always best to stay united and wander off from post-colonial imperialism, respectively.
