Government Seeks New Trade Agreements

Chancellor Jensen has today announced that it is Parliament's desire to open up Wasatch's doors for a wave of trade agreements. The Chancellor will be sending envoys out to nations abroad in hopes of securing trade agreements. However, key countries are Breotonia, Engellex, Kyiv, and Greater Sarmatia. The President had the following to say when asked why Parliament feels the new trade alliances are desirable;

"We have the factories and work force to meet these nations needs when it comes to manufactured goods. However, with a rising population, we are growing short on things like food. There are a lot of other things we can offer, and that we need. It is important for the growth and prosperity of the U.R." (United Republics [of Wasatch])

The Republican

The Ministry of Defense has admitted to several claims that have been floating around since the 1980's. It has admitted to the manufacturing and storing of several bio-agents. However, it has kept silent about which ones in particular. Several watch groups have claimed that this is cause to start a massive reform in Parliament, allowing the peopel to know what the government does whenever it does something. Some MPs agree, however, most of the MPs and voters agree that the bio-agents are neccesary to help preserve our nations independence. Since the army is used strictly for defense, it is not possible for the government to pre-emptively strike. So Chancellor Jense has said "...if you are worried about what kind of weapons our army has at its disposal, then you clearly worried about having to fight against it. Our plans are always for the continuation of world peace, and even with these bio-agents now out in the open, our foreign policy will not change." The exact reason why this was held from the population at large is unknown and unannounced. However, some watch dog groups point to the Cholera outbreak in the Celtic slum, Aodh. Claiming that these bio-agents have been used against the undesirables since the 1980's.

Trade Flow Increases

Parliament has congratulated itself and the citizens of the nation for bringing about a time of economic stability and growth during a period of world instability. The Portland Free Trade Treaty, signed with Breotonia in 1981, continues to bring prosperity to our nation and Breotonia. Also with new trade channels being opened with Gallian nations, it seems all down hill from here. Potenzan diamonds have been introduced, and the result is a large growth, as locals are hired to construct the stores, and manage them. And Trade Agreements with Danzig and Danmark are being worked out.

National Guard Receives Last Shipment of German Weapons

The National Guard (Wasatch's army) has recently received its last shipment of German weapons systems. This shipment happened to be the UAVs that had been ordered. The five year shipping deal has resorted in a completely modernized and well funded defense force.

Parliament Bites Boliatur Back

In response to Boliatur's trade sanctions against its oil entering Wasatch territory, Parliament immediately answered back. Placing a trade embargo on Boliatur, Parliament has banned any and all Manufactured Goods, Agricultural and Food Products, etc etc from entering Boliatur. The idea is to starve Boliatur of its basic manufactured goods. This will, according to Parliaments plan, hinder the country from fully developing. Due to the recent terrorist rebellion in Boliatur, the average citizen will have less money to spend. And with a rise in basic manufactured goods, the citizens will be kept from basic luxuries in Western developed nations. Parliament has again shown its genius and ingenuity. Even when singled out by the savages of the international community, Parliament still makes sure the United Republics comes out ahead.

In addition to this, Parliament will be sending over a Delegate to Midgard on Friday. Midgard has vast natural gas, and oil reserves. However, they lack the efficiency of a strong government to survey the land and build rigs and pipelines. This is were Wasatch comes in. In exchange for paying for the surveying and construction of neccesary infrastructure, Wasatch will be given special deals in all the fuel found. This will make sure that the rise in oil prices that Wasatch will receive will be temporary. Eventually our nation will be paying less for gas than before the sanctions.

Europaland commends Boliatur for its actions against the backward and reactionary state of Wasatch. The oppression of human beings on the basis of their skin colour or ethnic identity is a scandal of the highest order and has not gone unnoticed in Europa City. We urge that Wasatch change its domestic policies at once and take steps to ensure the full equality of all its citizens both under the law and at a more material level. If such steps are not taken we may be forced to impose economic sanctions and provide what material backing we can to those fighting for justice, equality and human dignity within Wasatch.

THE Friendly Confines applaud this widespread decree deposited by the Peoples & Patriots of Wasatch against a coterie of regimes that have not only made similar verbal attacks upon the Covenant, but acted in arms against several beacons of traditional civilization throughout Europe.
