A Brief History of Rromanistan and Breaking News as told by a the Rromanistan Tribune's Chief Correspondent, Mister Olav Cooper.

The Republic of Rromanistan was form in 1945 by a number of freed gypsies. While the Rromani people may have formed a nation-state, they use it for little more than the annual camping grounds, trade, and production. While there are over 10 million citizens, only 1000 people live in Rromanistan fulltime. Their current leader, Nikolai Feheroka, is the son of the first Rom Baro (President) or Rromanistan. He was elected with 97% of the vote in 1982, beating his half-brother by 3% of the vote. The people of Rromanistan are generally happy with their Rom Baro, and have continued to elect him in the quad-annual elections. His main opponent is the aforementioned half-brother, Boris Mustlasburg, who views the role of Rom Baro as more a King and less a President.

On September 25, 2010 the Presidential Palace was stormed by the Revolutionary Militia. The Presidential Family was captured and is currently being held in captivity on charges of High Treason. On September 26 the Kris (parliament) cast their vote for a new Government. The Kris is has suggested a Constitutional Monarchy be set up with by the President’s half-brother, Boris Mustlasburg, at it’s head. The Palace announced that Mustlasburg will accept any decision made by the Kris, and is honoured that his name be considered for leading the Nation. Mustlasburg himself could not be reached for further comment. It is expected that the Palace and Kris will be making further announcements in the coming days. Until then, the Nation waits with bated breath.

The Kris and Palace have announced that on October 1, the Republic will cease to exist, and the President will be executed for treason. The exact nature of the treason is not known. My sources tell me that the people of Rromanistan are not pleased at this turn of events.

Today marks an important day in the history of our Nation. The Great Traitor, former President Nikolai Feheroka(68), has been beheaded in the courtyard of the Palace of Justice, home of the High Court of Rromanistan. Following the execution, the Government made a festive procession to the Cathedral of Kali-la-Sara. At precisely noon, the doors to the Cathedral opened, and following a processional of Church Leaders and members of the Mustlasburg family, Boris Mustlasburg(58) entered and proceeded to the Alter of Our Lady, where he was met by His Holiness the High Priest of Kali-la-Sara. His Holiness anointed Mustlasburg with Holy Oil and placed the newly constructed 8-arched Crown of State upon his head. After reading the Oath of Kingship, Boris was proclaimed the undoubted and rightful King of Rromanistan. He was then seated in the Throne of State and watched as his wife, formerly Anastasia Bordin(45), daughter of the Secretary of State, was crowned as Queen Anastasia of Rromanistan. The Royal Couple were lead out of the Cathedral and announced to the people, and the world, as His Majesty Boris, King of Rromanistan, Rom Baro of the Gypsy People & Her Majesty Queen Anastasia of Rromanistan, Phuri Dai of the Gypsy People. It is expected that a feast commemorating this event will be held in the near future.

Carentania does not recognize the new Monarchy of Rromanistan, which has gained power through a bloody coup d'etat, as legitimate government of the nation of Rromanistan. All political ties will be severed, the embassy closed and Carentanian citizens are advised to leave the country to avoid possible persecution. Furthermore, we extend an offer of asylum to every member of the legitimate government of President Nikolai Feheroka, who may hopefully rest in peace.

It has been announced by the Palace that the members of the Feheroka family who swear fealty to the Crown shall be mediatised as a Princely Family and given the style of Illustrious Highness. Tatiana(65 ), the former wife of the President, and their eldest daughter Charlotte(28 ) have already been granted the title and have been allowed to live in the Hunting Lodge, renamed Rokaburg Palace. Princess Tatiana has been asked to be Her Majesty the Phuri Dai’s chief Lady and the Palace is awaiting reply.
In other news, HM The Rom Baro feels the sting of insult as Carentania withdraws diplomatic support from Rromanistan. In a statement, issued earlier today, HM states, “It is a sad day when the death of a great traitor to the people of Rromanistan is called a ‘bloody coup d'éta and is further insult to insinuate that the people of Carentania are in any danger within our nation.” The Palace announced that the boarders will be closed to Carentania’s people, and that the wandering masses of Rromanistan are not to enter into Carentanian soil, until a time of peace may be reached again.

HIll.H Princess Tatiana Feheroka has been accepted into the position of Chief Lady-in-Waiting to HM the Phuri Dai. She has moved into the Royal Palace, leaving HIll.H Princess Charlotte to run the Rokaburg. HIll.H Princess Charlotte has made a minor announcement of changing the family name to be more suited to the current political climate and will henceforth be known as HIll.H Princess Charlotte von Rokaburg.
