Seneca (SEN)

Women's Singles

Name: Leona Goodwright
Gender: Female
Nation: Seneca (SEN)
Rank: 2
Biography: Having started out in the Utica Regionals, Goodwright blazed onto the national scene with a clean, fast serve that blew away most of her competition. She's yet to beat Olivia Holyholt, but maintains that and success in the international as her goals. Enjoys much support within the LDS community.

Name: Olivia Holyholt
Gender: Female
Nation: Seneca (SEN)
Rank: 1
Biography: The reigning champion of the Seneca tennis women's singles rankings, Holyholt has made her career through simple, strong play all round. Those that played with her call her unexceptional, save for her versatility. Sports commentators are doubtful she can pull off the international, despite victories against Seneca-based tennis professionals.

Name: Sybil Redridge
Gender: Female
Nation: Seneca (SEN)
Rank: 3
Biography: Despite her intermittent defeats of both Holyholt and Goodwright, Redridge's career is full of victories and losses both. Commentators feel that she performs best under the greatest pressure, as her wins against high-rankers but losses against lower ones would seem to attest to. Little is known about Redridge, who shot up in the rankings fairly quickly during the last two years.

Men's Singles

Name: Calvin Maier
Gender: Male
Nation: Seneca (SEN)
Rank: 1
Biography: This Jewish player is something of an enigma in Seneca sports, having played a few fairly mediocre games professionally in 1951 and 1952 before shooting up rapidly in the rankings through a series of major, decisive victories against high-level players in 1953. His play is still solid, and Maier enjoys support throughout the country; most especially in his home-city of Port Republic.

Name: Felix van der Horst
Gender: Male
Nation: Seneca (SEN)
Rank: 2
Biography: As a major of the prestigious and Elect van der Horst family, Felix v.d. Horst is polarizing in the fanbase due to his sometimes inconsistent play and high rankings. Though he has some very agreeable victories under his belt, accusations of fixing and family manipulation of the rankings have followed him wherever he goes. He has never acknowledged such accusations himself.

Name: Roy Quigg
Gender: Male
Nation: Seneca (SEN)
Rank: 3
Biography: Originally #1 in the rankings for several years, Quigg is now entering the later phase of his career, with rumors of a swiftly approaching retirement sweeping the scene. It's believed he hopes to pull out a win at the international as a final accolade before making his retirement official.

Men singles
Name: Renard Winograd
Gender: Male
National Ranking: 2
Biography:
Birthdate: 14.06.1934
Born in: Jogorsk, Cidonia
Residence: Cid City, Cidonia
Height: 184 cm
Weight: 82 kg
Plays: Right-handed
Turned Pro: 1953
Coach: Maksymilian Nowak

Renard Winograd was born to Dr. Albert Winograd and Varvara Vasilyev in Jogorsk. He has been brought up in a sheltered home and was slightly spoiled as an only child. Has been playing since the age of 8 and has had extensive personal training with former national #1: Nikon Vasili Pajari. Nikon's passing last year has only strengthened Renard's vigor to carry on the teachings passed on to him from Nikon. His latest record is 14 consecutively won games, having only lost a week ago against national #1 Vikenti Mihaylov. Mihaylov however fell from a horse on the 3rd of June and broke his arm, as a result Renard gladly took his place for the Vittorian Open. "I am looking forward to showing what I've got. I think I am a favourite" he said in a recent press conference. On the question of what position he would end up in he simply stated "Winner. The Vittorian Open will be mine."

Women singles:
Name: Nadzieja Dubicki
Gender: Male
National ranking: 1
Biography: 29.10.1936
Born in: Lublan, Cidonia
Residence: Hoksebarge, Twente
Height: 180 cm
Weight: 69 kg
Plays: Left-handed
Turned Pro: 1952
Coach: Dominika Dunajski

Born in the quaint village of Lublan in '36, Nadzieja Dubicki had been helping on her family's farm ever since she can remember. "I'm a cowgirl" she smiles into the cameras and the various microphones, as she is the best tennis player in Cidonia. Her father died in a car accident when she was only 4 years old and her family struggled to get back on their feet. After her mother remarried a year after her father's death, things were looking up already and once in school, Nadzieja was eager to get into sports. "I was always an active girl. I like to be outdoors and when I got to school we were introduced to tennis. I loved it." as a result she founded the first tennis club in Lublan and practiced daily. "After school I would go out, hit the ball against the wall or play with my best friend, Izabela." Izabela Pokorny happens to be ranked #8 in Cidonia but has recently been busy due to her activities in the Cidonian Airforce. This will be Nadzieja's first tournament on foreign soil, but not her first game. She has won 3 youth tournaments already and won the Cidonian National Championship last year. She currently is living in Twente and is a devout catholic.

Not too late to sign up I hope?

The contents of this thread will transfer to the Nordic Open this weekend. If you wish to join, you may add your name still. There isn't a real deadline, it'll happen this weekend and when I get to it, I get to it. Probably Sunday, because Saturday I'll be busy most of the day.

EDIT: The Vittorian Open will happen next summer instead.

Changed my submissions so it's a mixed bag of Ommeroth and Vithrais challengers.
