For clarification, the Royal and Catholic Ebrian Constitution says that the Pope or a bishop the Pope designates must crown the Ebrian Monarch.

(Tibur) After a public audiance, as he typically does, the Holy Father was engaged with the crowd of worshipers in St. Peter's Square. A gunman approached him with a pistol and shot him in the chest. By the grace of God, Il Papa survived the wound and was taken immediately to San Francisco (the nearest level 1 trauma center to the Vatican). The bullet missed his heart by less than a centimeter, though it has damaged his right lung. Physicians at San Francisco have said that Il Papa will survive his injury, though he will need time to recover. While temporarily unable to speak, his hospital bed was moved close to a window so he could wave at the crowd who had assembled outside of the hospital. Upon seeing this, the assembled masses burst into cheers.

The assailant has been identified as Giorgos Spiterallis, a Radilan national of Aresuran heritage. He shot himself in the head after briefly evading police and was pronounced dead at the scene. According to police sorces in the Holy See and Radilo, Spiterallis had connections to the far right Orthodox group Society of Saint Tiberius the Great, which advocates for Aresura to reunify with Peleglsia.
