After co-operating many times with the Pelasgian Empire and predecessor the Propontine Empire the Government of Mehldorf feels that it is finally times our two nations hold a meeting to discuss the current geopolitical climate of Europe and how together we can work to change it and bring about a better world for the citizens of both of our nations.

His Imperial Majesty's Government has received your proposal with the warmest of hearts and has concluded that we should, indeed, meet to discuss the ways in which we can better cooperate to ameliorate relations between our countries as well as Europe as a whole. Since you have taken the initiative to contact us, we would like to return the honour by inviting a delegation of your choosing to meet with their counterparts from our own Empire in Propontis, if that would be of convenience to you. If not, we are perfectly willing to attend a meeting in Mehldorf.

Mehldorf would be more than happy to send a delegation to Propontis to meet with a Pelasgian delegation, we hope that these talks can bring prosperity for the both of us and we look forward to travelling to meet with you. I hope that we can continue to work together in such a friendly manner for many years to come.

With summer coming to an end, as much as Pelasgians despised hearing the words "Have a good winter!", Propontis's streets were once again filling with returning or returned citizens of all strate and statures. Departing planes were filling with foreign tourists and Pelasgian expatriates who had returned to the Fatherland for a few months or weeks. In this setting, a plane from Mehldorf landed in Propontis, carrying only a few foreign delegates. The delegates in question were greeted by an honour guard contingent upon exiting their aircraft and then driven to the heart of the city's historic centre, near the Great Palace of Propontis, to the Kantakouzēnos Mansion (Megaro Kantakouzēnou in Pelasgian), which had served as the residence and office of the Pelasgian Prime Minister (or, in older times, Grand Logothet) for nearly two centuries. In this building awaited Prime Minister Sophokles Krevatas, as well as several Ministers, who had assembled to welcome the delegates of the United Kingdom.

The plane ride had been a long one and Thomas Eldritch had used his time to rest and prepare for the meeting ahead, with him was a contingent of Foreign policy advisers most notably Joseph Seglin a friend of the Prime Minister and a well known socialite in Wilhelmsstadt. When they departed the plane the group was pleasantly surprised by the honour guard sent for them and were happy at how efficiently they had been taken to meet the Prime Minister. The car had driven fast through the numerous streets of Propontis and now they were preparing to climb out of the vehicle. The door opened and the first to climb out was Foreign Minister Eldritch he walked up to the Prime Minister and shook his hand "It is an honour to meet with you Mr. Krevatas, I'm glad you agreed to the meeting" he bowed slightly and waited for a response.

 

[Pelasgia]

"The honour is all mine, Minister. Please, come in, we have a lot to discuss." After sitting down and going over the normal formalities, the two sides decided to get down to business. "What is the first topic you'd like to discuss, Mr. Eldritch?"

 

[Merioneth]

"Well I wish to speak about the possibility of closer trade ties between our two nations specifically surrounding our North Eastern Himyari Colony, I also wish to discuss the threat of Kadikistan I know as of late tensions have calmed slightly but the government is trying to be polite whilst being weary and working with them is tough especially with the former territory of Calidia being a Kadiki puppet state".

 

[Pelasgia]

"We would most certainly be interested in increased trade ties, especially with your colonial territories. Reduced tariffs for one another would certainly help in this cause, along with reduced port charges for many of our countries' strategic ports. We would also propose tax incentives in some areas to facilitate foreign, mainly industrial, investment from one nation to another. Encouraging cooperation between our businesses could also aid in this task. Pertaining to Kadikistan, we share your concern. We are confident that the Anti-Kadikistan Coalition's summit will provide us with joint framework to counter Kadikistani aggression, but if that fails to come to be, we would be more than willing to form an individual alliance with you, especially since we're so close to your colonies, which Kadikistan would seek to attack, creating immense problems for both of us if they succeeded in capturing them. We have also not yet recognised Kadikistan's most recently formed puppet state, whose creation, as I am certain, came as a shock to your government."

 

[Merioneth]

"Yes, it most certainly was a shock when Kadikistan managed to dig it's claws into Calidia our hope was that the Calidian Communists would realise that the only way to succeed as an independent state was to shake off the shackles of Ivar but it seems not. As for the Anti-Kadikistani coalition summit I believe this will be good and I hope that it can fruitful and we can stand tall as independent nations and not be threatened by Ivar. Now I must ask if we can discuss one more thing, I was hoping that perhaps our two nations could collaborate on some military projects of some type. Our nation is facing a great shortage of frigates and we hope that we would be able to work out a deal for more frigates mainly to patrol the waters surrounding our colony".

 

[Pelasgia]

"We understand your concern. We already have a Carrier Group stationed in our base on Justiza's main island at the request of the Justinian government, but it is already busy in with dealing with Kadikistani aggression towards Justiza and in protecting international shipping in the Kalahari and Long Sea. While we could dispatch frigates, I'm not certain they could effectively patrol such a large coastline, so far away from the Fatherland without quick resupply, especially in times of war. What we could do, with your permission of course, is construct a base in your colonies, preferably near the horn of Himyar, or use one of your already existing bases, to station a Carrier Group. This would help us in combating the piracy which is plaguing the region, hurting both of our shipping, as well as to effectively protect your colonies in the event of Kadikistani or other aggression long enough for the Imperial Fleet's main force to arrive from Pelasgia. Considering the technology and strength of the carrier group, it could even repel an attack on its own, since Kadikistan only plans to have one carrier on each coast and all other neighbours of your Colonies lack the capacity to even fight against a Carrier Group. Would this be acceptable to you?"

 

[Merioneth]

"Yes this would be perfectly acceptable and since our colonies current military infrastructure isn't highly developed I believe a new Pelasgian military base on our soil would be perfectly acceptable. The Government has also promised to send more funding to our Colonial Guard as the current budget is small, this would help greatly benefit the colonies armed forces and mean the potential for them to work with Pelasgian forces would be further advanced. Now, I would still like to discuss the possibility of a military deal between our two nations as Mehldorf is still looking to bolster it's forces both at home and abroad."

 

[Pelasgia]

"Of course. What do you have in mind? After this, I hope we can discuss an amelioration of our cultural and academic ties."

 

[Merioneth]

"Well we were hoping to find some sort of deal which would allow us to purchase 6-8 Oceanus Class Submarines to allow for some extra covertness in our naval missions. As for your wish for Amelioration of our cultural and academic ties this is something I would most definitely love to do and it would allow us to further our relations to a whole new extent".

 

[Pelasgia]

"I am certain that our shipyards would be more than willing to accommodate your request, as you are a trusted ally. Pertaining to culture, Pelasgian Institutes of Language and Culture in Mehldorf and vice versa would certainly help cultural ties, as would museum, artistic and student exchanges."

 

[Merioneth]

"Yes, they definitely will. Now, shall we try and get this deal on paper so that it can be made official and so that we may get to action on building the relationship our two nations enjoy and will continue to enjoy for many years to come. I also hope that we will finally be able to show the world that our bond as two sovereign nations is strong."

 

[Pelasgia]

"I am in full agreement."

The deal was signed by the representatives of both sides, before the Pelasgian government presented the delegates from Mehldorf with medals of friendship as diplomatic gifts, to showcase the hope for everlasting cooperation and friendship between the two Nations. Thus the meeting was concluded.
