 Continued Raids by E'trangi: The small border town of Ni'ec was nearly destroyed to day after yet another vicious raid by the E'trangi tribe. After nearly a running wild for nearly an hour, the E'trangi savages were finally stopped by the local warband, which had to be called in by Governor Abney. When asked why there was such a slow response, Governor Abney said, "The warband was busy putting down smaller raid elsewhere." No information on this other raid has been released to the public at this time.

 Debate Over Environmental Bill Drags On: The debate on whether to pass the Green Bill continues to drag on. Members of the Traditionalistes Faction support the bill saying, "it will bring the Confederacy back to its roots." On the other side, the Modernisateur Parti, says that passing the bill could hamstring companies by setting tighter control on emissions and refusing to sell government land set aside for national parks. Furthermore, neither side seems willing to compromise, which has lead to a complete stalemate in the Confederate Council, and which has stopped other, more important legislature from being discussed. Says Elder Angeni of the Traditionalistes, "Its the principle of the matter."

The Kingdom of Belmont condemns the raids by the E'trangi and would like to offer the full support of Her Majesty's Government and Armed Forces in combating the menace.

Debate Over Bill Becomes Fist Fight
by Jacques Dumont

The heated debate over the Green Bill descended into a fist fight, pitting the Modernisateur Parti supporters against the Traditionalistes Faction. Debate over the bill, which is currently stopping all other legislation from being discussed, has been a major sticking point for all members of the Council. Neither side wishes to compromise, each claiming that a compromise would weaken their position.

While no one was seriously injured, Governor-General Paul-Henri Dupont was very nearly brained by a wayward cane. Dupont, a native of Belmont, said, "It is understandable that tempers will run high, but it should be to everyone's eternal shame when these tempers prevail."

In a press conference condemning the fight, Chief Alain Moss agreed with the Governor-General, and issued a decree closing the Council for three days in order "to let tempers cool." Many Elders are dismayed with the closing of the Council for three days, saying it is attempt by Moss to issue a pocket veto and effectively kill the Green Bill before its been properly discussed. Other Elders support Moss' decision to close the Council and kill the Green Bill, which will free up the Council to discuss and pass other legislation.
