Jewish Separatism Named #1 Security Threat

First Marshal Vasyl Tarassenko made waves yesterday when in an address to graduating ASAAF cadets he stated “...you will be on the front line of our struggles, including the fight to preserve our Alliance against the threat of Jewish separatism which I can say without reservation is the most pressing security challenge facing us today.”

The First Marshals comments hint a break in the decades old policy of characterizing LFS imperialists and communist revolutionaries as the top threats to the Allied States. Today Voice contacted the Office of the First Marshal for comment on his remarks and received this reply: “The First Marshal, the State Defense Committee and State Military Commission are in complete agreement that the rapidly growing strength of Jewish separatist movements is the most immediate and urgent threat to the security and integrity of the Allied States.”

The First Marshals remarks were vividly underscored later that day by the detonation of a car bomb on a crowded street outside a police station Sarkel which caused the deaths of 16 Militia officers and 77 civilians with many more wounded. The 2nd Airborne Brigade of the ASAAF is scheduled to begin deploying to the Khazar Autonomous Region next week to shore up the Militia and Interior Troops already deployed in the conflict ridden region.

Separatists Petition for Name Change

Fringe Novgorodian separatist group, Party of Novgorod Liberation, has staged a small demonstration in Novgorod demanding the Allied States of Kyiv drop “of Kyiv” from it's name and return to the name used before 1949, simply the Allied States. “of Kyiv” was added to the name in the 2nd constitution drafted following the devastating civil war against Novgorod secessionists in honour of the ancient Principality of Kyiv.

Novgorod National Alliance Party Chief Vlas Sytsov was dismissive of the notion, saying: “It is a matter of historical fact that the Allied States of Kyiv is so named in memory of the Grand Principality of Kyiv from which all Rus descend. It is as much a part of Novgorodian history and identity as it is Kyivan. The notion that it symbolizes the alleged domination of Novgorodian Rus by Kyivan Rus is a dangerous and provocative delusion.”

Though the militia normally make short work of separatist agitators the group was allowed to stage their protest under the watchful eye of militia troops after they proved peaceful and orderly. The decision to allow the group to remain was praised by the Ministry of State Security which stated: “Well we remain vigilant against the threat of separatist movements we must first and foremost uphold the public order. The group in question is known to authorities and is not considered a major threat, attempting to drive them off would likely only aid them in their propaganda. By allowing them to remain we showed clearly that the legitimate government of the Allied States has nothing to fear from their fabrications.”

The militia reports the group eventually dispersed peacefully after failing to gather public support, though two of their leaders were briefly held for questioning.

Armed Forces Prepare for Biannual Exercises

The State Military Commission has announced it is in the final phases of preparations for it's biannual manoeuvre exercise cycle. Formerly an annual event, the manoeuvres have become less frequent as the armed forces place more emphasis on adversarial training as the main method of keeping soldiers skills sharp. The Commission still stands by the manoeuvres though, saying that well their relative importance has declined they still present a valuable opportunity for operations on a scale not normally seen during peacetime training. The Commission also emphasizes the value of the manoeuvres in visibly demonstrating the Allied States continuing resolve against LFS imperialism.

The Commission also revealed some details about the planned manoeuvres. The main event will take place near the border with occupied Jizhou and focus on a hypothetical Oikawan surprise attack on the Allied States. Utilizing full combined arms operations active forces will simulate a delaying operation to buy time for the mobilization of the category two reserve forces. They will then reinforce the active units to stabilize the front and launch a counteroffensive. Simultaneously a combined air and naval will stage mock attacks on an Oikawan carrier battle group well submarine forces simulate interdicting a convoy of Oikawan marines. The Commission revealed no details on if it intends to simulate NBC weapon release but has stated all branches will be involved, which presumably includes the Rocket Forces.

The Commission has also confirmed it will allow foreign observers to attend the event, but has not disclosed who may be in attendance.
