Earlier today, the previous incumbent President Helen von Arbin peacefully transferred power over to the newly elected President Corinne Bjorkenstam after Helen von Arbin served the maximum office length of ten years. von Arbin was known for her popular charisma and foreign policy. Whether Bjorkenstam can fulfill her campaign promises of uniting the Hexannian family once more and promote funding to Planned Childhood, an non-profit organization made to teach children and adults alike about safe sex and hand out contraceptive devices. When it comes to the heated debate of abortion, Bjorkenstam shares the same view as the previous incumbent: it is a woman's choice and hers alone. As the price of gas increases and the price of the natural resource of lumber and fur go down, many Hexxanians want economic change, and they want it fast. Bjorkenstam addressed the people's concerns in her ignogerational speech.
My fellow citizens:
I am here before you as a fellow Hexannian, and like the thirty two before me, I stand here ready to serve both the nation and her people. Our nation has had its troubles. Through the turmoil, we have came out stronger. I believe we too will come out stronger again. Our economy is suffering, but this is just a growing pain. Some homes were lost and some stomaches empty. Yet we have remained a united people, together and always, which our ancestors before us fought brave to keep. Let it be known that our freedom will be assured and our economic strength rebalanced. The price of liberty will not weigh down on the price of food or exports. As a people, we are strong. As a people, we are Hexannians.
NATIONAL HEXANNIAN FEMINIST LEAGUE SUPPORTS EUROPALAND
Following the anti-muslim demonstrations in Europaland, the National Hexannian Feminist League (NHFL) released a statement pledging their full support of the cause:
"The National Hexannian Feminist League will provide aid financially to any group in Europaland that needs it."
The National Hexannian Feminist League has been around for many years, which every president has been apart of since its creation in 1935. The popular political movement pushes to support the rights of women nation wide. Only recently has it began to expand its interests in other nations. Its branch, Feminist Youth, recruits girls as young as six into its ranks. Cookies and other snacks are sold and the money made from these items is then used to support political candidates and demonstrations across Hexannia. Their support carries significant weight, and as such, every candidate that got their support has won.
TODAY IN HISTORY: MALE SUFFRAGE
Today in History is a new monthly segment that celebrates the rich history of Hexannian since its creation. On February 25th, 1916, males got the right to vote after nearly five years of persistent demonstrations. The Male Suffrage Act gave all males in Hexannia the right to vote and act in the democratic process. A year later, National Male Day was created to celebrate the act with much controversy. Many view this as sexist as some celebrations exclude women from participating. However, such celebrations have been outlawed. Police presence has been increased. Congress Funds Development of Substitute Materials
This morning, Congress approved the commission of a group of physicists and an assortment of other scientists on a project that plans to provide an alternative fuel for automobiles. With it, five thousand jobs from a yet to be built compound are predicted to arise in the next year. The exact details of what they will be specifically doing is not known at this time. The names of these scientists were withhold for reasons unknown. More details will surely become available as time goes on, however, a new source of fuel is much to be excited about.
Our nation welcomes the support of the National Hexannian Feminist League and it is free to cooperate with any feminist group in Europaland. The largest are the left-libertarian Free Women and the Feminist League which is mainly made up of more traditional radical feminists. With regards to the protests Europaland's government does not consider itself anti-Muslim but we welcome the right of feminists of an Islamic background to protest against the religious traditions which they feel oppressed by.
