Cabinet Secretary: Ioannes Argyropoulos, Minister of Foreign Affairs | Home > Ministries > Ministry of Foreign Affairs The Ministry's Mission The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is a cabinet-level office of the the Government of the Pelasgia. Headed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Department is generally divided into three branches: (i) foreign affairs; (ii) international trade; and (iii) international development. The Ministry is responsible for Pelasgia's international representation, for the maintenance of relations with and the protection of Pelasgian nationals abroad, and for the advancement and safeguarding of the interests of the Pelasgian State. To carry out these tasks, the Ministry maintains Pelasgia's extensive diplomatic network of embassies and consulates throughout Europe. The Minister The incumbent Minister of Foreign Affairs is the Hon. Mr. Ioannes Argyropoulos. Born in Aspropol on July 7, 1973 to a military family, Mr. Argyropoulos studied law at the National University of Propontis, whence he graduated with distinction, before pursuing graduate studies in international law. After completing his national service as an officer in the Pelasgian Army, Mr. Argyropoulos sat the public service examination and successfully applied to be a diplomat. He served in a number of diplomatic and advisory positions, including Head of Mission to the European Forum, Ambassador to Tarusa, Consul General in Valls, and Consul General in Banja Luka. In 2023, Mr. Argyropoulos left the Diplomatic Service to be appointed as Minister of Foreign Affairs at the personal request of His Excellency, President Leontopoulos. Legal Framework and History The Ministry of Foreign Affairs traces its roots to the medieval Logothesion of the Drome, which served as the foreign department of the Propontine Emperors. The Department received its current name in 1931, following the reorganisation and modernisation of Pelasgian public administration. The operations of the Department are regulated by the Law respecting the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
