The economy of Neu-Scharmbeck is mainly structured around agriculture, and manufacturing agricultural devices, industrial machines, clocks, watches, precision instruments, car parts, and parts of household devices, televisions, computers and audio systems.
Historically, Neu-Scharmbeck was famous for its clocks. Chairclocks, tailclocks and standing clocks. That tradition is still upheld nowadays, but of course now the clocks are electric.
Out of the clocks, the watches emerged. Nowadays several Neu-Scharmbecker watch manufacturers make luxury watches that are sold not only to be used as watches but also as investment objects. Bendemann is also an important company w.r.t. clocks. This firm builds atomic clocks for all kinds of industrial use, in all possible sizes.
The biggest Neu-Scharmbecker company is Krupper Stahl. This company mines the iron deposits in Neu-Scharmbeck, and produces steel.
Berens Agricultural Products is a company that trades in all kinds of agricultural products, from grains via fruits and vegetables to meat, milk, milk products and eggs, as well as frying oils (e.g. olive oil or sun flower oil). But it is also active in the trade of cotton, linen and hemp (for the fibers to make ropes from, for the woodish parts as construction material and fuel, and indeed for medical use of the cannabis flowers (but only medical use)).
Another big player is Reglindis, which manufactures chip manufacturing machines (photolithograpy systems). Recently it developed the Extreme Ultraviolet (EUV) Lithography, making it possible to mass-produce 5 nm chips.
Born is an important name in the manufacturing of car parts. It produces gear boxes (manual gear boxes, but also eight-speed automatic ones, and gear boxes for race cars), turbos, engine management systems, exhaust gas cleaning systems, basically every electric system that is installed in a car.
Schwarzbach is a company that builds all kinds of industrial machines for construction, mining and agriculture. Products are a.o. bulldozers, shovels, excavators in all kinds, mining dump trucks, machines for strip mining and many more, but also agricultural machines like tractors, combine harvesters, all kinds of trailers for agricultural use, grain silos, milking machines, and many more. It also produces trucks.
Berres is a company that produces household devices like hoovers, dish washers, microwaves, ovens, coffee machines, water cookers, washing machines, wash dryers, but also televisions, radios, DVD-players etc. Its market segment is the lower part of the market.
Fuchs is a company that manufactures parts for televisions, computer screens, computers, notebooks, printers, smartphones and everything related to computers. It also produces computers, computer accessories, notebooks and smartphones for the Rheinian company Nichsdorf.
Finally, the Rheinian company Darner Werke has two factories in Neu-Scharmbeck.
