7 July – 20 July 2010

A gruelling test of strength, endurance and teamwork, the Batavië Tour aims to challenge anyone who calls himself a cyclist of upper calibre. A 15 stage cycling race will take teams of 9 men each from the flatlands, past the farms, through the densely urban and suburban areas and up and over the menacing Windkloof Mountain of Windhoek Island. The winning team and riders bask in glory if they win or face defeat but an unforgettable experience none the less.

The Batavië Tour provides excellent advertising opportunities from international corporations and organisations. Each team is sponsored by one or more companies, wearing their logos and colours on their jerseys, kit uniforms and team cars while the finishing areas and international television coverage are decked out in standard and electronic-style billboards. It is an event no major business wants to miss.

Beginning 7 July 2010, the Batavië Tour will end on 20 July 2010.

To enter your team for competition, please supply team names as well as cyclist names and their respective positions.

Official Advertising Partners

Corporations may post their application for advertising positions. There are two tiers for advertising: Official Tour Partners Tier 1 and Official Tour Partners Tier 2. Tier 1 partners will have their logos displayed at finish lines, mountain peaks, feeding stations and other prominently visible areas for spectators and television cameras. They will also have television adverts and logo penetration on air. Tier 2 partners will have smaller logos placed in slightly less visible areas and are not guaranteed television spots. Tier 1 partners have a higher advertising fee than Tier 2.

Security Concerns: Many foreign teams and spectators have raised legitimate security concerns, highlighting the fact that there are EDF peacekeepers currently serving in Batavië. The Batavië Tour 2010 will not be travelling to peacekeeping areas. All venues and routes will be thoroughly inspected and secured days in advance of the Tour's arrival and a significant security presence will be available at all routes and venues during the Tour for both teams and spectators. The Government of Batavië guarantees the safety of all visiting teams and their accompanying staff for the duration of the Tour. This message brought to you by National Police Batavia.

OOC: Team captains usually (more like never) aren't work horses... they're usually excellent all-rounders or climbing specialists :p

Also just to go off-topic, but... Le Monde Media? More liek amirite?

OOC: good to know, thanks Kapi. I will be editing my team list in accordance and I will also add some international flavour to the members.

Now that there is a decent list of participating teams, I will delay the start a few days to organise and leave room for more people to post teams.

Kapi, if you have the time and will, I would appreciate your help in figuring out how to run this. I plan on writing semi-lengthy commentary with the results, but it isn't a simple bracket like football, so any ideas would be welcome. PM me or post here.

OOC: If that is the case, and as I was going by Batavie's line-up as a template and I know nothing about cycling, can I change my cyclists' specialties around?
