Carentania Seeking Copper Imports

The Workers' Republic of Carentania, represented by the Commissariate for Economic Planning - Office for Foreign Trade, announces its intention to acquire Copper, either in raw or processed form, from foreign traders.

We will accept both the offer of ores for further processing in the furnaces of the Carentanian Steel and Copper WO. as well as the offer of processed, pure copper which can be used directly for assorted industrial manufacturing purposes. These include the production of high-end electronical systems, electric cables and household appliances and we expect the ressources to have an acceptable quality for these applications. Part of the trade contract will be the inclusion of regulary controls by experts from the Carentanian Steel and Copper WO. and we reserve the right to refuse any payment for deliveries that do not meet our quality expectations. In such cases, the material will be shipped on a retour at the cost of the selling party.

The contract is about a shipment of 3.000, in words three thousand, tons of processed copper per month. We will pay a price of 3,5% above current market price, over the period of two years.

This trade offer has been authorized by the Commissar for Economic Planning and the Board of Worker Organizations.

OOC: Imports and Exports both run through the Office for Foreign Trade, which can offer two options. One consists of paying with "labour cheques" which can be cashed in for Carentanian export goods (there is a fixed value attached to these cheques, so there is generally little fluctuation as to how much you get for your 'moneyy'). The other is foreign currencies, which Carentania holds reserves in and acquires now and then if needed.

Windhoek Island is rich in copper and other metal and mineral deposits. The rugged landscape and low population of the island would make it an ideal location for copper mining and even processing. We do, however, require technological assistance in improving the efficiency, output and safety of the current and prospective mines. Should Carentania be able to provide this, the majority of copper on the island would be available for the Carentanian import market.

Payment would be requested in Frankish Goldmarks. Shipping could be provided by Batavian shipping companies.

We would like to inform the Carentanian government that in its recent seat in Boston, the 554th American Congress has approved an amendment to the Commerce Statute, under the 'Act for the Restriction on Commerce with Hostile States', or the Commerce Restriction Act of 1759, affixing the Workers' Republic of Carentania to the List of Hostile States with Regards to Commerce, and thereby criminalising trade with Carentania.

After careful deliberation, Carentania is willing to come back to Batavies offer. We however request a meeting with a Batavien official to discuss several details about the legal frame in which we may operate the mining operations as well as the payment.
