To explain the steps taken by the royal government Oltremare's ambassador to the court of Nürnberg will be summoned to the Foreign Office tomorrow morning. His Majesty's Government is certainly concerned about the governmental action against the members of one religious confession. Thereby Oltremare showed little concern about a universally recognised right, the right to choose one's religion. It's our opinion that this can no longer be justified by national sovereignty. Therefore, we appeal to common sense among the leaders of the kingdom and can only offer to transport any willing Catholics from Oltremare to Franken. From there they will be brought place of their choice.

The Anbati government expresses its firm protestations over the treatment of members of the Dominican Christian community of Oltremare and will support any action undertaken by the Council of Nations to correct these circumstances.

All of Montelimar, Catholic and non-Catholic alike, is outraged at this most deplorable act perpetrated by the Oltremare government. His Most Catholic Majesty, King Armand I and his government condemn, in the strongest terms, the unjustified forced deportation of the Catholic population of the Kingdom of Oltremare and hereby announces that the Kingdom of Montelimar will support the case that has been placed before the Council of Nations and introduced by the Kingdom of Belmont.

Also, in response to the condemnable actions of the Oltremare government, the Kingdom of Montelimar offers a haven and new home to those who are being forced out of the places that they have called home for generations. Montelimar offers the safety and comfort to the Catholics of Oltremare that have been denied to them by their own country men and government. We of Montelimar will welcome those poor souls who's only crime was to want the rights and privileges of Oltremareans, for that, after all, is what they are.

The Radilan Republic would be more than happy to accommodate catholic refugees from the Serene Kingdom. We will welcome them as residents and within a year, citizens of the Republic. Their transportation will be paid for in full by our government.

Also, We stand by our allies in Montelimar, Franken, Belmont, and others in expressing our dissatisfaction with the regime of the Serene Kingdom. Non the less, it is more important now to take care of those in need than to make blame.

Catholic West Afire in Rage and Condemnation

NOVARA - The deportation orders have had far-reaching effects throughout Europe, far more than expected by the average Oltremaren citizen. No less than fourteen nations, including the two unrecognized states of Transpurgistan and the Sarmatian Republic, have condemned the Most Serene Kingdom of Oltremare, nine of them officially Catholic nations, if not in government policy, then indeed in population. Even our northwestern neighbors of Životinje have joined in the condemnation, leading the Royal Chancellor of His Most Serene Majesty, Giuseppe Emmanuel, to speculate this is at least partially influenced by "... the Catholic Pope's visit to our normally apathetic neighbors, in terms of international incidents not involving communism or globalization."

The Kingdom of Belmont, which only days ago was wooing His Most Serene Majesty with promises of reconciliation, began discussion in the Council of Nations with the announced and official intent to "... (not) let this horrible action take place…" and push the Council of Nations to "... discuss how best to restrain such an aggressive regime.", enthusiatically sponsored by the Empire of Wiese, one of the more vocal condemners of the Most Serene Kingdom. Moderate voices were heard, though, from surprisingly the representatives of Franken and Vangala, as well as the Empire of Greater Oikawa and the Tsardom of Shcherbatskaya.

Then, our representative to the Council of Nations, Maurizio Vento, read a written statement by His Most Serene Majesty himself, who in a moving speech explained that halting the deportations was in practical terms impossible, and expressed personal regret that the Catholic world has taken the issue this far. The speech was received quite well at home, the Royal Chancellor stating that "... it is good he is our sovereign."

The words of His Most Serene Majesty apparently won over the Sultanate of Hajr, and although it has not stopped the Catholic nations of the west from seeking punishment of our nation, it has dulled their bite. The representatives of Montelimar, Frescania, Éireann, Mayaland, and even the haven of the Knights Templar, Aquitania, have seen at least some of the wisdom of His Most Serene Majesty's words, the worst being discussed now being restitutions to the families of the Catholics being deported from our nation and an official apology to the same. Even the headquarters of the Catholic faith, the Papal States, has refused to vocally condemn the Most Serene Kingdom or even vote on punishment, restricting its activities to taking most of Oltremare's Catholics. Only time will tell on what the result of the discussions will be.

Expanding on the Papal States, almost five thousand have been shipped to the origin of their faith, leaving the other five thousand, one thousand arrested confirmed and suspected extremists, in Oltremare and eight nations ready to take them. They include Aquitania, Wiese, Varjhal, Helia, the Talemantine Empire, Franken, Montelimar, and Radilo. The Royal Constable of His Most Serene Majesty, Henryk Árpad, announced that, after talks with the Talemantine Empire, which gracefully also offered to pay for the transportation of Catholics to their lands, four thousand Catholics will be sent to the Talemantine Empire, all transportation costs covered by the Talemantines, and from there would be relayed to remaining nations willing to take in those refugees. The Royal Constable explained that this was done in order to "... ensure a smooth, uneventful deportation to the nation that is closest to us in terms of distance, and has also offered to pay for their transportation, whether they keep the deportees or no."

That leaves only one thousand registered Catholics, all extremists confirmed or suspected, and unusually approximately 70% of them women, remaining in the Most Serene Kingdom. His Most Serene Majesty has promised he will shortly "... deal with them.". The Royal Steward of His Most Serene Majesty, Karl Kammerschen, has warned the people of Oltremare that tough economic times are expected, regardless of what comes from the Council of Nations. Citing the worsened relations Oltremare has acquired in the wake of the deportations as the primary suspect, nevertheless he has urged the people "... not to panic." and that "... with cool heads and restrained wallets, we will prevail over this incoming crisis."

Should we not have been forced to deal with a cabinet crisis, we would have reacted earlier. We strongly condemn the recent actions by the Oltremaren government. The victims of this deportation will receive political asylum in Eiffelland, with the possibility to obtain the Eiffellandian citizenship.
The Oltremaren ambassador will be summoned to the Ministry for Foreign Affairs for clarification of things. Further steps will be discussed by the new government of Eiffelland.

His Most Serene Majesty Pardons Catholic Extremists

NOVARA - In both the Council of Nations and the diplomatic battlegrounds of Europe, the Catholic West takes in the deportees from Oltremare and, at the same time, condemns them for doing so. All, up to now, had been forgotten about the 1,000 Catholic extremists and suspected extremists awaiting trial for their crimes against His Most Serene Majesty and the people of Oltremare.

They are no longer forgotten.

Today, the Office of the Royal Constable of His Most Serene Majesty announced that the king has issued a blanket Royal Pardon to all the Catholics held in custody, and is as of this moment preparing them for their deportation, to be supervised completely by the Royal Constable. In an accompanying statement by His Most Serene Majesty, he stated that "... although the accusations against these Catholics are numerous and just, we in Oltremare must prove to the West, no matter if they believe us or not, that we are also forgiving if these same Catholics are willing to leave the land they so passionately hate and start their lives anew."

The move has been met with bewilderment and some irritation by the people of Oltremare, who suspect this is "... an attempt to appease the Catholics of the West, who hate us enough already" and that "... there's nothing we can do to convince them otherwise of the king's good intentions.", so says citizen Marco Gamborini. Others, like Maria Turotti, are far more angry. "One of those CENSORED killed my husband and sons, and now we're just letting them go? CENSORED. The CENSORED CENSORED should be shot, then we can ship their CENSORED corpses to their fellow cult member." she said, referencing the Dominican Catholic faith at the end.

The Royal Constable, Henyrk Árpad, added that "The recipient nations of the pardoned extremists will be approached and notified privately." When asked why they will not be set free to voluntarily leave the country, he responded that "We can't take any chances."

The Sultanate expresses its concern over the ready acceptance of known terrorists and criminals into the bosom of the Lorrain nation. We worry if the Lorrains will be safe amongst such people.

The Search is On for a Queen of Oltremare

The terrorist attack by the Catholic extremists days ago has highlighted another important issue: His Most Serene Majesty, King Francesco Ceretto VII, is the last of his line, and to ensure the continuation of the Ceretto family, who, directly or indirectly (through male or female lineage respectively), for the last nine-hundred and forty-four years have ruled the Most Serene Kingdom of Oltremare, and ruled it well. Currently, next in line is the Head of the Kammerschen family, Maxwell Kammerschen, but in response to questions of succession, he has stated that "I would rather not be the next King. In this day and age, that is too much stress for an old man like me."

When inquired, the Royal Chancellor of His Most Serene Majesty, Giuseppe Emmanuel, stated briefly that "I am indeed beginning such a search along with my aides and assistants. We must ration our time and effort though, considering the simple fact that the Catholic world hates our guts at the moment. But then again, what's new there?" The problem, as one aide to the Royal Chancellor, Signore Roberto Mercoladi, stated is that "Most potential brides that reduce the risk of close family relations while at the same time are noble born, are in the Catholic West. I think it's safe to say that it's very unlikely Catholic monarchs will be offering up their daughters now."

Another possibility open to His Most Serene Majesty is the Tsardom of Shcherbatskaya, our western neighbors who have, at the very least, cordial relations with Oltremare. Aside from that, worse comes to worse, a wealthy, non-noble-blood bride could be chosen, but as the Royal Chancellor has stated, "We'd rather not consider that possibility right now." His Most Serene Majesty himself, meanwhile, has remained silent on the issue, and his personal secretary has indicated that "At this time, His Most Serene Majesty is occupied with far more pressing issues both national and international."

With sincerity, I have instructed my staff to join in prayer within the confines of their own denomination for His Most Serene Majesty, King Francesco Ceretto VII. As a married man myself, I can attest to how spiritually liberating a better half can be.

This ancient pattern of monarchist mating is not within the parameters of my expertise, though it is truly my hope that His Majesty finds a soul mate, instead of an organic political gesture.

Always Free,

Catholic Extremists to be Sent to Talemantine Empire

After days of careful searching amongst all nations of Europe for a new home of the remaining 1,000 Catholics, all either confirmed or highly suspected extremists, the Office of the Royal Constable to His Most Serene Majesty has announced a destination, two days before all Catholics are to leave the country, has been found.

"It is my belief, and the belief of His Most Serene Majesty, that the Talemantine Empire once again presents the best destination for these Catholics. The Talemantines are Christian, but Orthodox, so there is little risk of these extremists being used as state-sponsored terrorists against our people. They have also agreed to allow our intelligence agents the ability to monitor the extremists for a classified period of time until we are satisfied that they have no serious intention of causing harm against Oltremare anymore." the Royal Constable said in a public statement.

At this time it is unclear how exactly Catholic nations will respond to this announcement, though it is likely they will request the ability to send observers to monitor the extremists and see if they are being mistreated or not. When questioned about this, the Royal Constable responded, "That is now up to the Talemantines.", all but officially having the Most Serene Commonwealth wash its hands of the extremists.

HEADLINES
International ~ Augsburg, Wiese: European Defense Federation votes as bloc in the election of the Security Council in the Council of Nations. The Most Serene Commonwealth and other nations condemn this tactic as "party politics" that have "no place in the Council of Nations."

International ~ Kyiv, Kyiv: An agreement is reached between Kyivan representatives of RusExport and RusEnergy, and Ezio Pantorini, representative of the Royal Steward to His Most Serene Majesty, reach an agreement to begin construction of a nuclear powerplant in the capital of Novara, in order to "speed up the march towards energy independence.", as indicated in a statement released by the Office of the Royal Steward to His Most Serene Majesty.

International ~ Himyar: Tensions between the Talemantine Empire and the Red Repulblic of Carentania continue to build day after day. The Office of the Royal Constable to His Most Serene Majesty issued a statement that included, "It is the hope of the Most Serene Commonwealth that the issue surrounding the long history between these two nations is resolved without bloodshed."

Council of Nations In Danger of EDF Tyranny

A new, dark era has fallen, not just upon the Most Serene Crowned Republic of Oltremare, but upon all nations of Europe not aligned to the European Defense Federation. In recent elections in the Council of Nations, the EDF, primarily made up of Catholic nations, were swiftly and suddenly swept into many important offices, now holding officially three seats in the Security Council, and the office of the Vice Secretary General. They were fortunately denied the office of the Secretary General, going instead to Hajr, and perhaps one Security Council seat, contested between the Republic of Anbat and the communist state of Carentania. Despite those setbacks however, the EDF wasted no time in asserting itself, causing great concern amongst the other powers great and small.

This was done through censorship, and the re-opening of old issues in a concentrated effort to humiliate us in the eyes of all of Europe. For the former, after legitimate concerns were raised by our western neighbors, the Tsardom of Vittoria, the EDF bloc did its utmost to stifle any and all discussion on the supposed neutrality of the Empire of Wiese, which has contrary to its rhetoric grown closer and closer to the EDF economically, as well as being an Associate Member of the alliance, only one step away from becoming a full-fledged member. After the EDF backed Vice Secretary General attempted to close debate and our ambassador voted in the negative, the Wieser ambassador complained of religious slander after our ambassador's noting of the religious make-up of the EDF.

Called out as censorship by the Empire of Greater Oikawa, and even the Carentanian reds, our ambassador was nevertheless rebuked by the Vice Secretary General, which prompted an immediate walk-out of our ambassador in protest. The debate was forcibly closed only a few hours later, the votes to close, we must note, primarily from EDF or Catholic nations.

Then the Wieser ambassador, perhaps in revenge to the so-called "religious slander", introduced a resolution calling for the condemnation of Oltremare for the past deportation of Oltremaren Catholics and the calls for sanctions and violations of our sovereignty. Oltremare, along with Zivotinje and Vittoria, have voted against the resolution, but it sadly looks like it will carry solely on the backs of the Catholic-EDF conspiracy.

The Office of the Chancellor to His Most Serene Excellency recently released a statement, warning our populace and all of Europe that "The Honorable Body of the Council of Nations is being corrupted by an alliance of the Dominican Catholic Church and the European Defense Federation. Together, they work towards stifling all criticism of either body, be it justified or not, and to impose their will upon all regions of the world, especially the East. The East which, I remind all, built the Council of Nations on the bodies of its dead. We in Sarmatia, the far East, in Himyar, must all band together to fight this blatant power grab by the EDF in their attempt to dominate the world."

This was done, at least partially as well as controversially, earlier in Security Council elections, where our Ambassador contributed to the run-off elections by withdrawing our vote for the Republic of Anbat in the wake of its admission of seeking warmer ties with the EDF, and instead giving that vote to communist Carentania. In a statement issued later, the Ambassador explained his action as such: "Oltremare cannot trust the Republic of Anbat, at this time, to be free of corrupting influence from the Dominican Catholic Church and the European Defense Federation. The only other state which, at the time, had a chance of halting this power grab was Carentania, the lesser of two evils. We must understand this now, Oltremaren: the EDF and the Catholic Church are a far greater threat to the security and sovereignty of Oltremare, indeed all of Europe, than the reds in Carentania."

This vote nevertheless provoked some condemnation of the Ambassador as a "red sympathizer", especially from the Zivs to the north. Nevertheless, the Chancellor expressed his support for the Ambassador in the stead of His Most Serene Excellency. "It is a bitter pill to swallow, I know, but the Ambassador is right. We must recognized the latest threat to Europe instead of completely focusing on past threats."

"The Only and Holy Catholic Church is flattered by the amount of influence Oltremare is giving it in this analysis. It only shows the Oltremaren neurotic view on politics. Oltremaren politics is nothing more than a scary little puppy thinking the hand that feeds it is going to beat it"."
