Governor To Begin J30 Million Tourism Campaign

Réunion

Lady Wazzi Waihee, Governor, announced the intention of the island to focus on continuing to bring in tourists from around the world. Waihee cited numerous dips in the calendar in which tourism fell. "By extending advertising, we open the door for numerous Europeans to visit our island paradise. Not only our paradise but the paradise of the sea. Cruise lines are another crucial part of Ste. Pierre's economy". Sainte Pierre's vicinity to Makai has led to a cooperation between the two governments in forming a tourism partnership.

The campaign will start next month in Belmont, Wiese, Tyskreich, and Arendaal.

Police Arrest 2 Suspected Red Clay Associates

St. Croix

Nature Reserve Police arrested 2 men suspected of using the Sainte Pierre Nature Reserve to camp and hide from mainland authorities. While the circumstances of their apprehension remain quiet, the men have been cited with Failure to Register a Campsite, Possession of Undocumented Firearms, Possession of Firearm Ammunition without Certificate, and Possession of a Controlled Substance level III.

The two men were reportedly camping deep within the nature reserve and moving around often according to a Nature Reserve Police statement. The two men are being held in St. Croix and are expected to remain in Sainte Pierre for questioning.

The Nature Reserve is sometimes used for crimes, especially marijuana growth, but as punishments have substantially increased the number of crimes has dropped to near bottom.

Tourism Rising

Réunion

According to the Governor's Office, the recent tourism campaign has netted an overall increase in tourism. "Sainte Pierre and the Makai people share a unique position on the planet. People visit us not for our historic architecture, our daunting battlefields, or our sporting teams. People visit our islands for the natural beauty that is uniquely ours" said Lady Wazzi Waihee, Governor of Sainte Pierre.

Tourism dropped dramatically in 2006 but began to recover in 2008.
Saint Pierre's 11 resorts, massive wildlife refuge, and popular port of call for cruise ships all took hits and weakened the Sainte Pierre economy. Sainte Pierre relies on tourism to an extent the financial assistance of mainland Marquette.
