I thought the idea of "national shades" of an alliance color (such as Batavie crimson, Cyrillica Maroon, Kryobaijan red-orange, etc) would work.

I would suggest flashifying the map to have different map layers, to give the possibility to show national colors instead of the current alliance based map layout.

I lack flash, but anybody who has it I'm more than willing to work with to create something of the sort.

It would still come down to you to create two different versions of the map though I think, one with national colors and one with the alliance colors.

On the new Warsaw 1.1, I'd suggest coloring non-aligned countries a pale green or tan to better differentiate them from the light gray of unclaimed mapspots.

To be honest, I don't like the current shading of unaligned states at all. IMO we should simply return to the old system where unaligned, occupied spots were distinguished from empty ones, and aligned spots had the alliance colors. Why fix what ain't broke?

EDIT: Unless, of course, the map I see in the map thread is merely the alliance map. Even then I still say unaligned spots should be distinguishable from unoccupied ones. And gray is ever such an ugly color.

It wasn't fixing, it was improving. And I think tertiary colors work for neutrals. But if we're going to have color at all in a map in a political map, might as well use it not only to distinguish ones placement but also ones relative geopolitical alignment.

The everlasting debate has been colors? If so what colors? — Most tell me they want separate maps, one for the alliances, another that is a political map. Frankly, it's less work for me if we just permanently use an alliance map but have colors that apply better for all states.

And for even more fun and confusion, draw out everyone's administrative divisions.

Given that the flash idea worked out well in the past, I'm in support.

I love the map, coro, it looks great. One request specific to my spot when you have the time.

The northern parts of Batavië are flat like the Netherlands and Belgium and the western peninsula should be higher up. So the coasts should be raised a bit like dikes and the inland should be mostly (60%ish) below sea level.

Thanks.

Also, I was just thinking about it, it would be nice if there was more of a 'Pacific' ocean east of Shinryeo. It seems kind of cramped and we are missing that big ocean area, which would be nice. Just a thought.

We are going to stress Coro out with an inner conflict over whether to make the map look more or less like planet earth.
