Border outlines of the land? Or nations?—if it's the border of the land, then I'm currently fixing that already.

As for the West, I originally didn't want to do it, but it was asked for. Honestly I think we should use the West to establish a colonial history. Might start some wars and stuff...

The land outlines is what I mean.

And it was asked for because we were afraid, I think of a huge flood of newbies. Said flood has never arrived, so the reason is gone. And I'm very wary of any colony-grabbing of empty spots anywhere. From what I remember it'll start a tidal wave of colonial claims that will give everybody headaches.

I personally think the west should just be sunk.

Seriously, why do we need the west? We're not getting a huge influx of new members, and we don't even need an influx for that matter. People are not creating puppet nations left and right anymore(thank god), and we still got plenty of spots left in southern Himyar that don't HAVE to be Muslim, if a little interesting history is applied. Waste of space if you ask me.

Also, the more I look at the map, the more I hate the border outlines, especially when they're touching the oceans. Those should probably be changed.

Agreed or at least shrink it to 1/16th its size

Got to say I liked the previous style better. The desert also looked better in its previous incarnation, now it looks more like a mosaic. It lacks the visual "dryness" that emanated from it before. I take back what I said about adding patches of red and yellow.

The sea borders are a definite improvement though, as are the slightly larger fonts for cities. And the lack of ice in the deep south.

Not sure if this is the right recipe for the Map, sort of like that newsbanner I was working on last night, keep fiddling with the color/texture.

i prefer the old geographic map.

for the main map though, i think we should stick with the political one, and maybe we can have a supplemental geographic one if people really want it.

The red and yellow and so forth is what really changed most things. I had to make the map darker as a result otherwise the mosaic looked more like a trip to Benneton. Then it was difficult to read the text and I thought it looked bad with the text in white, so I had to put in a whitening layer to brighten it to so text was visible.

I'll see what I can do tonight to reform it.

Also, opinions on this?

You should be accustomed to the nuclear winter, so you can live with a non-nuclear one as well. :p

Ghassan is with a G, not C, by the way.

EDIT:Solid work on the map, Coro. As for your format question, I for one prefer the present format as it kinda reminds me of Victoria.

To be honest I did discuss with Coronado to a small degree, and found a plausible manner to somewhat bridge the historical gap, but I cannot say I am a hundred percent satisfied by our discussion. Whoever takes the spot, I will talk to and try to bridge the historical gap however I possibly can without violating the player's plans to play their country as they see fit.

Won't a Spaniard there kind of mess with the German history in the region?

About as much as an Italian making a bit of a mess with the Slavic-Turkic history of a region (i.e. Me). Namely, if a creative approach to history is made, which I'm certain Coronado is quite capable of, then it should make RP interesting.

Besides, remember Portuguese Lusitania? Where you'd expect Dutchies or even Frenchies or Germans or heck, even Scandinavians to be?

And nobody bitched at the time of map application, even though that was the time when most of us thought we were going to stick with the strict ethnic placement of nations on the map.

The point I'm making is that this isn't a copy of the RL Europe map and, thus, not a RL copy of ethnic distribution. Sure, radical combos of, say, Spaniards and Russians next to each other are pretty weird, but if explained with interesting history, it's much better than us accidentally(or not for some) creating some weird copy of RL Europe.

Besides, where are Italians or Spaniards supposed to go? If going by RL Europe, that's filled by the Frenchies. And southern Himyar? Everybody expects Arabs and Africans to go there. God forbid they have to go to the far west or far east or something.

PS: And another thing, I'm sick of seeing just Frenchies and Germans on the "Europe" continent. I want ethnic diversity dammit.

Outremer, you're missing the point. Hosagovinia had shared history drafted together with me, Ascheburg, Franken and Eiffelland. Since Hosagovinia separates Eiffelland from the rest of us, it creates historical loop-holes and paradoxes.
