New Government Sworn In!

The new Ionian government was sworn in today at Saint Dionysius Arepogetus' Cathedral in Algolis. The Government is headed by Georgios Dorianos, head of the Irredentist Party. Prime Minister Georgios expressed his desire to modernize and reform the nation with the help of Ethnarch Demetrios and King Thales IX. The Irredentist Party had gotten 72% of the popular vote in the elections with popular support in polls showing a steady rise. Whether this new government will bring the much needed reforms to Ionia is yet to be seen.​

Muslim minority members protest in Eastern Thrace.

The members of the Muslim minority in Eastern Thrace organized a protest in Adrianople, claiming recognition from the Central Government among other requests. the New Governemnt has begun talks with them to ensure a peaceful and quick resolution of the dispute. We interviewed both Christian and Muslim residents of the province of Eastern Thrace. their opinions are reported below:

Muslim: We want recognition from the Prime Minister in Algolsi. We're Ionian too, just because we're Muslim it doesn't mean that we're from some whole other nation. The Catholics got recognized so why shouldn't we have the same treatment?

Christian: I don't have a problem with the being recognized. They're good folks, and jsut as Ionian as me and you. They're not illegal aliens with a different religion for God's sake, they're our own folk but they simply choose to follow a different faith.

Ionian State News Agency replaced by the Ionian Radio-Television & Press

The Ionian State News Agency has been replaced by the new Ionian Radio-Television & Press (Ionian Greconian: ᾿Ιωνικήν Ραδιοτηλεόρασις & Τύπος - ΙΡΤ). The Agency called ΙΡΤ has shown signs of reform and less bureaucracy while the government has promised the drastic redaction of private advertisements in the Public Television's Program and the modernization of the agency via the use of both better personnel and equipment and the enrichment of the TV & Radio with educative, informative and culturally enriching programs, documentaries, movies and other material. The Press is also to be improved.

Ancient tomb of King Periandros I discovered!

The ancient tomb of King Periandros I, the first Ionian King who ruled Ionia from 150 BC to 100 BC. The tomb is located in Corinth, Periandros' city of birth. It is filled with treasures and trophies both lft there to honor him by others and earned by him during his numerous campaigns with the Kastorian League and later with the Ionian Kingdom. The Archaeologists of the University of Algolis that discovered this tomb along with the Ministry of Ancient Antiquities & Historical Sites have expressed their interest to further investigate the tomb.

Monarchy abolitionists protest in Algolis!

Today at 2:30 PM a large number of leftist and anti-monarchy groups' members gathered in Algolis' government quarter to protest against and demand an abolition of the monarchy. The government of course refused such an act saying that such moves only serve to undermine stability in Ionia. Earlier this week several MPs of the Communist Party of Ionia made a similar request in parliament during a discussion on the subject, but their efforts found a similar result. With polls from multiple newspapers and statistical companies showing almost total support of a continued monarchy among the Ionian populace, and with the few that are against the monarchy living in border regions with Tyrrhenia and Kyiv it would seem that outside influences have so far failed to undermine the Ionian people's love for their King an Royal Family.

The King decides to attempts to gain control over executive power! Supreme court blocks King's decision! Severe protests and anti-monarchy sentiment among the populace, military and government!

Earlier today the King attempted to get executive power within his hands by declaring an emergency situation and marching paramilitary forces loyal to him close to the government quarter. The army dissolved these forces and forced the King to stand down while mass protests have taken place, while polls concerning the populace's sentiment toward the Monarchy have seen a dramatic shift of public opinion. Many government officials, including the Prime Minister and Ethnarch, have expressed their dismay at this decision, with rumors of the Armed Forces threatening a coup d' etat against the King. Executive power is still under the government's control as the supreme court deemed the decision to be unconstitutional and outside the King's powers. As such the decision has been delayed with the King forced to instill an emergency law should he wish to get the law passed!

The people of Ionia, our brothers are today's heroes, for fighting against what seemed to be a successful coup d'etat organized by the king for the return of reaction and absolute monarchy in the state. The people of Tyrrhenia stand side by side with their brothers and congratulates and commends them for their stand against this coup. King Thales IX must understand that the days of feudalism are long over and should also understand that actions like this is what really turns the people against the institution he represents, though maybe it would be time for Ionia to become a republic, like in the old Golden Days of the Diadochi, in which the League of Kastoria was showing the world the shining light of democracy and republicanism. We urge the Prime Minister and the Ethnarch to stand united with the people a return Ionia to its old glory. The will of the people is sacred and not even gods should stand in its way.

Emergency Broadcast by Ionian State Radio-Television Channel 1 (IRT1)

IRT1 announcer: Ladies and Gentlemen we have to disrupt our program because of emergency news concerning the monarchy crisis of our nation! After King Thales IX declared an emergency situation he once again tried to get forces loyal to him to capture Algolis' government quarter. His forces failed to break through the troops that the Ethnarch had already deployed on Platia Syntagmatos (Constitution's Square) and when new forces loyal to the government arrived the King's troops were forced to surrender. After the monarchist forces were defeated the XVI Armored Brigade, loyal to the legal government, moved on the government quarter capturing both the palace and parliament. The Ethnarch and Prime Minister declared the King fallen, removed him from power and head of state and declared the nation to be a Confederate Republic. The King has been stripped of his power and the new head of state will be the Ethnarch. The government has declared elections for a constitutional assembly which will draft a new constitution and has declared a referendum on whether or not the King should be head of state. This move comes purely cosmetic as nearly 90% of the populace wishes to see the monarchy abolished. More on the issue at tonight's central news broadcast! Freedom of death!

Monarchy abolished! New Constitution to have been drafted by tomorrow! Ethnarch addresses the nation! Tyrrhenian brothers show their support!

After almost one and a half millennium of monarchic rule Ionia, the nation in which the city state of Algolis, the birthplace of Democracy, is located, is finally once more in the control of her people, free from the chains of a corrupt crown! The Irredentist party has been renamed to the Venizelist party, without fear of prosecution by the monarchists! The 3rd Ionian Republic is now a reality! While the King lies stripped of all power and his throne, waiting to face trial on charges of treason, a new Constitution is expected to have been drafted by tomorrow, as the only edits to the constitution will be to the 20 first articles. At the same time the Ethnarch has addressed the nation, while our Tyrrhenian brothers and sisters, long free from monarchs, have shown the support for this move of the Ionian people.

Constitutional Assembly reaches decision! Referendum decides in favor of abolition! King to resign power but not to be prosecuted! New Constitution approved! Election Time!

The Constitutional Assembly has reached a decision and has cannoned the Results of the VI. Grand National Constitutional Assembly in Algolis. At the same time the new Constitution has been approved by the Assembly. The Constitution the Assembly agreed to can be found at page six(

). At the same time the Referendum has shown the public's approval of a monarchy-free republic, with no less than 88% voting in favor of the abolition! The Constitutional Assembly has decided not to prosecute the King but he will be relieved of all of his duties and his titles, along with all members of the royal family. The King is to also relinquish all claims to power and the throne. Finally elections have been announced to elect a new government for the Federal Republic!

Latest polls on elections! Federal Republic of Ionia renamed to the Ionian Confederacy!

The nations largest public and private news giants have conducted a number of polls concerning the popular vote for prime minister and parties in the current elections. The Venizelist Party headed by Georgios Dorianos seems to be leading the process with 72% of the popular vote while the Ethnarch has the public support of almost 95% of the nation! At the same time the Federal Republic of Ionia has been renamed to the Ionian Confederacy. This came as a result of remarks of various political scientists, who stated that Ionia's system is much closer, if not identical to that of a confederacy than to that of a Federal Republic.

Ionia applies to join the Tripartite Agreement! Ionia offers to send peacekeepers to the Eastern Cape!

Earlier today the Ionian Minister of Foreign Affairs submitted Ionia's membership request to the Tripartite Agreement. Mr. Filanthropos pointed out that Ionia is the ancient birthplace of Democracy and that modern Ionians are just as dedicated to both democracy and financial and personal freedoms, as well as the protection of democracy from communist and fascist elements. At the same time Ionia has also offered to send a battalion of peacekeepers to the Eastern Cape to help other ICD forces with their difficult task. The force is to be made up of 1,200 peacekeepers, 300 of which are to be armed while 900 of them are to be civilian officers specializing in various fields tasked with helping out the local ICD forces and authorities in dealing with the current crisis. The Hippocratic Order, a very well known Ionian humanitarian and medical order established nearly 1,000 years ago by Hippocrates himself, has also sent 3,000 volunteers to the cape.

Ionian Ethnarch President meets Portusgalian Ambassador!

The Ionian Ethnarch-President has met with the Portusgalian ambassador, a personal friend and brother in arms of his from the Portusgalian Civil War of 1928, in the Presidential Residence in Algolis' Government Quarter. The two men are currently discussing matters of mutually beneficial treaties as well as the close and friendly relations between the two nations.

Apokries conclude! City Dionysia and Sarakosti begin!

The Apokries festival concluded yesterday after large carnival celebrations across the country. Apokries, an Ionian holiday since the ancient times, is celebrated by both Pantehon and Christian fiath followers but is not recognized by the Orthodox or Catholic church. Nevertheless the Ionian government still acknowledges it as an official holiday. As today is the Pure Monday, in the Orthodox calendar at least, the Sarakosti has begun meaning all Ionian Christians will have to follow a strict non-meat and non-dairy diet for 40 days until Orthodox Easter comes. At the same time the City or Great Dionysia have begun with Pantheon followers rushing to the streets to the streets in celebration! The festival dedicated to God Dionysus is also an Ionian tradition since the ancient times and officially recognized by the state just like Sarkosti. As both Sarakosti and the Great Dionysia are periods of celebration for their respective followers people all across Ionia are celebrating regardless of which faith they follow!

Tourism Agency Report! Tyrrhenian Ambassador Summoned!

The National Ionian Tourism Agency (᾿Εθνικήν ᾿Ιωνικήν ᾿Υπηρεσία Τουρισμοῦ) has released its report of both domestic and foreign Ionian tourist movement. Starting with domestic movement Ionia's already massive tourism sector has seen a 18% increase in total internal tourist movement, with almost 80%, 2% more than last year, of all Ionians visiting another canton or city than that in which they reside for vacation, mainly to the North and West during the Winter and to the South and East during the summer, and an increase of 16% in foreign tourist movement! At the same time a large number of Ionians have also visited foreign nations during their vacation. More specifically neighboring Tyrrhenia and Aresura as well as friendly and allied Portusgalia and her colonies, mainly Mozambia, have seen a peek of Ionian tourist movement during the summer and spring, while fellow Orthodox Galich, Kyiv and friendly Suiona are also main tourist destinations. Ivernia also has seen a 6% increase of Ionian tourist movement! In other news neighboring Tyrrhenia has seen a wave of large protests by her people, in demand of Mr. Raptopoulos' resignation. After Mr. Raptopoulos commanded the Tyrrhenian army to move on the demonstrators the army's leadership refused and issued an ultimatum to Raptopoulos himself to resign or face a coup d' etat. Raptopulos followed suit and resigned his post. Ionia has summoned Tyrrhenia's ambassador to help Ionian leadership understand the situation that is foreign to them and help them ensure the safety of Ionian citizens in the neighboring state as well as reassure the ambassador of their friendly relations regardless of which government leads Tyrrhenia.

Ionia founds the Hellenic Union! Ionia invites Suionia to diplomatic meeting! Alliance and Trade Agreement between Ionia and Portusgalia!

Yesterday the Ionian ministry of foreign affairs announced the establishment of the Hellenic Union, an organization created to help ensure cooperation and peace between the Hellenic states. It is to comprise of 3 main bodies: the Hellenic Council ,much like a parliament but without legislative power, the Hellenic Cultural Preservation Agency and the Ionian Blue Cross. Tyrrhenia is expected to join after a new government is formed after the resignation of the country's Premier while Aresura's stance is unknown. More information can be found at page

. At the same time the Ionian government has asked the Suionian government to join it in a diplomatic meeting. The meeting between the two friendly nations is expected to be similar to that with Portusgalia. And lastly to the day's most important news, the ambassador of Portusgalia in Algolis and the Ethnarch-President of Ionia have signed diplomatic documents creating an official military alliance between the two nations as well as a trade agreement. The alliance will help the two nations defend themselves in case of attack or provocation in these hard times while the trade agreement is focused at the support of the Portusgalian car exports to Ionia and the movement of more Portusgalian marine trade and products from the Himyari colonies through Ionian freighter companies, ships and ports as well as the exchange of other goods, mainly agricultural products and raw materials, between the two nations.

IRT1 announcer: Ladies and Gentlemen we have to disrupt our program because of breaking news concerning the political scene of our nation! Two hours ago the Chief of the Ionian Police Force announced that the Special Investigation initiated by command of the Parliament concerning organized crime and tax evasion in the higher echelon of the Socialist Party of Ionia concluded that 33 out of the party's 61 MPs had in fact been directly associated with or taken part in tax evasion and organized crime while a large number of the Party's lower and upper members had also been involved with those activities. As of now 22 SOKI members and 30 MPs have been arrested by police in a move that even the government wasn't expecting. SOKI's leader is currently under arrest so his second in command will take his place as head of SOKI. The 33 MPs have resigned from their seats in parliament with 26 already having confessed to their crimes, along with 20 of the arrested members. Scandal rocks SOKI! Leftist voter support shifts to KKI!

Yesterday the Ionian Police Force announced the results of its Parliament ordered investigation into SOKI. However nobody expected the unprecedented results this report would have brought to Ionia's political scene. The report concluded that 33 MPs belonging to SOKI along with a large number of its high ranking members had been directly involved in organized crime. As a result 30 of SOKI's MPs, including its president Alexandros Ouzaras, as well as 22 High Ranking members have been arrested. Of these 30 MPs, including the party's leader, as well as 20 members have confessed to their crimes due to heavy evidence on them. The party's founder and historical leftisst personality, Manolis Glezos has taken control of the party after Ouzaras resigned from his seat in Parliament and his leadership over the party. As a result of the scandal public support and especially that of the leftsist voters has shifted to the KKI, whoose general secretary D. Koutsoumpas, also condemned SOKI's leadership along with all other political parties.

The Government of the Aurarine Republic holds severe concerns over the recent arrest of various MPs that belong to the Socialist Faction of your nation. Considering the negative stance on socialism and communism by the Federation of Ionia, the Aurarine Republic holds fears that the decision to arrest the MPs was made on a political basis, as opposed to a criminal one.

The Aurarine Government does not mean to belittle or denounce the effects of the criminal justice system of the Federation, but it stresses that the Government of Ionia be as open and transparent as possible in order to put to rest, or avoid, any accusations of repression of political freedom. Despite ideological differences that may persist across the globe, the Aurarine Government holds firm that all peoples are granted the right to hold their political beliefs without fear of persecution. ​
