Office of the Warden of the Tyrrhenians

The recent modernization and rearming of the Ionia army concerns us deeply. The aggressiveness of the Confederation of Ionia followed by this makes us believe that all those events will soon be followed by a military operation aimed at destroying the sovereignty of the Tyrrhenian people. For this we ordered the 3rd Revolutionary Insurrectionary Army to be on alert against possible Ionian aggressive actions coming from the border. We will like to receive an insurance from the Ethnarch and his government that the current army enlargements and the granting of more firepower is aimed at defending the Ionian people, not making the games of the oligarchs or being used to invade a revolutionary country.

Signed,
Thanasis Laskaris,
Warden of the Tyrrhenians

The President of the Ionian Confederacy promises to you that these are necessary steps only to modernize some outdated military equipment to be able to defend our sovereign territory and not any steps to attack Tyrrhenia. We have not mobilized any forces and we request that you demobilize yours. We promise and publicly state that we have no interest in a war with our Hellenic brothers.

SPECIAL EDITION OF 17/3/1954

SPECIAL EDITION!

Constitution edited once again!

The Ionian Constitution has been edited once again with the approval of the Parliament and Senate. The reason was the fact that most PMs and the People belived Ioonia should be a federation and not a Unitary Sate, under the name of the Ionian Confederation and not the Ionian Republic as most Cantons value their current status. This move also came for historical reasons since Ionia has been a Confederation, though with varied forms, since 460 BC! Here is the new constitution as of 17/3/1954 with the edits marked in blue.

New Ionian Constitution after the edit of 17/3/1954

On this day of Sunday, the 17th of March of 1954, the Parliament of the Ionian Confederation hereby approves and ratifies the following edits to the Constitution of the Ionian Confederation.

Α. Ionia is to be a Federal Republic under the name of the Ionian Confederation. Ionia's subdivisions are to be known as Cantons.

Β. Ionia's Head of State is to be the President of the Ionian Confederation. The Ethnarch is no longer to be a state position but rather a simple decoration-title granted by the Ionian Parliament or the President of the Republic to living or deceased persons who have served as President of the Republic or Prime Minister of Ionia. The President of the Republic is to be refereed to as His or Her Excellency, depending on the gender of the President, and is to be elected by the Parliament every 6 years. The President of the Republic is to be the commanding chief of Ionia's Armed Forces. The President of the Republic is to be the first citizen of the Ionian Republic. The President of the Republic may fire a Government if he or she considers it to have breached the Constitution or have acted against the benefit of the Ionian people and declare elections for a new one. The President of the Republic may declare a referendum for important national issues.

Γ. Ionia's Head of Government is to be the Prime Minister of the Ionian Confederation. The Prime Minister is to be a member of parliament elected to that position by their fellow PMs every time a new parliament is formed after an election. All the government ministers are to answer directly to the Prime Minister who in turn is to answer directly to the President of the Republic. The Prime Minister is to be elected every 4 years along with the Parliament. the Prime Minister may at any time declare elections.

Δ. Ionia's legislative bodies are to be the Ionian Parliament and Senate. Each Canton is to be represented by 1 senator and a number of National Assembly members analogous to its population. The parliament is to approve or reject laws proposed by the Prime Minister and the Ministers through a majority vote. TO be passed a law must have the approval of both the parliament and senate. All laws have to be signed by the President of the Republic to be valid after being approved by Parliament. The President of the Republic may not sign a law but if it is approved by the Parliament and Senate a second time then he or she is obliged to do so. Ionian Citizens may propose laws to be voted on by parliament. These laws need the support via signatures of 3% of the Electoral Body to be voted on by Parliament.

Ε. Ionia's Legal Branch is to its Courts of Law. The Judges and other Legal Officials of the Federal Courts of Law, including the Supreme Court, are to be appointed by the President of the Republic with the Approval of Parliament while the Judges and other Legal Officials of the Courts of Law of each Canton are to be either appointed or elected depending on the legislation of each Canton.

ΣΤ. Ionia's Colonies are to be organized as Semi-Independent and Autonomous Commonwealths. Their Head of State is to be the President of the Ionian Confederation. Their Heads of Government are to be Governor generals appointed by the President of the Ionian Confederation with the approval of their Parliaments. Each Colonial Commonwealth is to have its own Parliament made up of a Senate and a Colonial Assembly functioning in a manner similar to that of the Ionian Parliament.

Ζ. All persons born within Ionia's borders from parents who are currently Ionian Nationals or one Ionian Citizen and one Ionian National are to be Ionian Citizens & Nationals. If only one of the parents is an Ionian Citizen but neither is an Ionian National the child will be an Ionian Citizen but not an Ionian National. If both parents are not Ionian Citizens and not Ionian Nationals but are permanent residents of Ionia the child will be a Metikos class Ionian Citizen. He or She will have the same rights and obligations as other Non-National Ionian Citizens but will have to pay a special tax, the Metikion, to remain in the country.

Η. All 18 year old Ionian Nationals who permanently live in Ionia will vote or run for office every 4 years in the general elections, mayoral elections and state elections. All 18 year old Ionian Citizens who are not Ionian Nationals, including the Metiki, may vote and run for office in the mayoral elections and state elections but not the general elections. Voting is compulsory for nationals and non-compulsory for Non-National Citizens including the Metiki. All Ionian Citizens may lose their citizenship if they are convicted of Treason. Nationals may not lose their citizenship in any case.

Θ. The Official Religions of Ionia are Orthodox Christianity, Catholic Christianity and the Hellenic Pantheon. In the State of Thrace Islam is also an Official Religion as nearly 20% of its inhabitants are followers of Islam. All persons living in Ionia are equal regardless of Race, Religion, Political Beliefs, Gender, Age, Nationality, Citizenship and any other personal views or characteristics.

Ι. All Ionian Citizens and Nationals born and living abroad are to have the same rights and passports as all other Ionians. After the age of 14 they will have to sign their Passports and pledge allegiance to Ionia, the Ionian President and the Ionian Flag every time their Passport is renewed at an Ionian Embassy or Consulate.

ΙΑ. No more than 1,000 immigrants are to settle in Ionia every year. That number may be surpassed by up to 10 persons so as to not split families in half. They may receive Metikos citizenship after staying in the country for 5 years and will pay the Metanasteftikon tax until they become Metiki citizens. They may choose not to become Metiki class citizens.

Tyrrhenia refuses to de-mobilize! I & II Armies as well as National Guard mobilize!

Yesterday, after Ionia announced the HOPLON re-armament and military modernization program, Tyrrhenia mobilized her 3rd Army and demanded a re-assurance from the President of the Ionian Confederacy that this was a non-offensive move. Even though the President and government immediately reassured Tyrrhenia of that and had not mobilized any forces, today the Tyrrhenian Press insulted Ionia and stated that after command of the country's premier, Mr. Laskaris, the Tyrrhenian forces would remain mobilized as they are sure Ionia will attack. As a result Ionian officials are concerned that Tyrrhenia might make a first move in her paranoia and fear and have mobilized the I and II Field Armies as well as the National Guard. Both forces will take part in exercises to ensure their combat readiness while border security and policing has been strengthened.

Ionian National Guardsmen taking part in exercises, notice their use of the equipment and weaponry that was used by the Regular Armed Forces before HOPLON.

Ionian Marines mobilize, running to fortify border checkpoints. Notice the new equipment and weaponry used by them after HOPLON.

HOPLON products and new Ship Classes enter the Ionian Heavy Industries Group's product catalog! Tyrrhenian archaeologists' claims of Democracy being Akrotirian and not Ionian dismissed!

As of today the Ionian Heavy Industries Group, Ionia's State military & other heavy industries group will be selling HOPLON program weaponry and new Ship Classes in addition to its older products! On to the academic front Tyrrhenian archaeologists reported finding several stones with mentions of a democratic process taking place in a Tyrrhenian Akrotirian city and have as such deemed that democracy is Tyrrhenian and not Ionian. The national Ionian Board of Archaeologists dismissed their claim with its President, world-renowned archaeologist Calliope Anaskafeos Athenagoros making the following statement:

"History seems to indeed repeat itself. Five years ago some Ionian Archaeologists found similar relics in the Ionian island of Zakros, dating back to the 11th Century, and as such claimed that Democracy might by Ionian but it's from Zakros and not Algolis. Today we find ourselves in a similar, if not identical, position. By these standards the First human Tribes that lived in Himyar and elected their leaders as well as deciding what way to go and what to do by vote were the inventors of democracy. A claim which lacks any scientific or logical base just as the that of our Tyrrhenian and Zakrosian colleagues. let me be frank and clear: Democracy is not simply deciding by vote over what to do and setting a couple of rules. That's something a bunch of kinder-gardeners could organize. Democracy is a way of life; an organized state system with representatives or direct legislative rule by the people and organized law-keeping with separation of powers, as well as elected and ranked political leadership. It is also a system that evolves and develops over hundreds of years and has organized military, police or even public protection and as such could not and may not be overthrown and replaced by monarchs every now and then. To that extent and abiding by that internationally recognized criteria, Ancient Algolis was, is and always will be the First Democracy and it is Ionian. On the other side the findings of our Tyrrhenian colleagues are great archaeological findings and I wish them the best of luck in their project."

"Democracy is a way of life; an organized state system with representatives or direct legislative rule by the people and organized law-keeping with separation of powers, as well as elected and ranked political leadership."

If that is the standard applied to the term of democracy by my esteemed colleague, then, to be frank, I can understand even less how Mr. Athenagoros can claim democracy to be an Ionian invention. The aspects cited here are recent developements and closely related to bourgeoise rule, distinctly different and in no direct tradition to the slaveholder society of Ionian antiquity. Seperation of power and, to the degree as we associate this term today with state monopoly on violence, organized law-keeping as well are developements of modernity rooted in enlightenment thought and as such, not an Ionian invention but a joint effort by Europes most advanced societies in the 17th an 18th century, including Engellex, Cantignia and Franken, who were further propelled forward by blossoming the cultural exchange with Touzen and Yujin in that era.

The insistence of Ionian scientists that "democracy is Ionian" is not only contradictory to the facts at hand, it is a deeply ideological insistence on the greatness of the own nation - a greatness that can be found only in a mythical past. This kind of nationalism inhibits the further developement of Ionian society and furthermore denies the achievements of bourgeoise democracy to be developed further into socialism, illogically believing democracy to be the end and peak of human social developement.

The very word democracy is Ionian. It is internationally accepted that Democracy is Ionian. Organized law-keeping was invented in ancient Algolis and was one of the primary reasons for the creation of the Hellenic alphabet, that both we and our Tyrrhenian brothers use. To that extent I don't think we need to say anything more. While Carentania may choose to trash her national pride, history, religion and culture and as such lose her cultural identity and become the face-less socialist mosh-pit she is now, Ionia has no reason or need to do that. Socialism isn't the last level of human development as you claim; it's an enslaving menace that plagues our world, a world which would be better without it. To consider it a maximum level of human development, is to consider non socialists inferior, a policy Carentania seems to promote. That is what is a really dangerous form of national pride. Knowing one's history and being proud of it so as to be able to advance and build on the base your ancestors have set isn't.

Preparations for the March 25th Military Parade & celebrations begin! Cantonan Police seize ship in Dyrachion! Tyrrhenia joins the Hellenic Union!

With the 25th of March less than a week away from us the Preparations for the Student Parades in all of Ionia's Major Cities as well as the Military Parade in Algolis have begun. At the same time celebrations have already commenced and municipalities, small and large, across Ionia have begun decorating their cities in celebration of the Revolution of the 25th of March of 1821. As we all know, on the 25th of March of 1821 the Ionian People led by a group of Military Generals all headed by Field Marshall Theodors Kolokotonis and Senior Diplomat Alexander Ypsilantis declared the Ionian Revolution against the corrupt monarchy in Arcadia's Capital, Tripolis, and Varnia's Capital Odessa. The Civil War that followed would last for nearly 8 years and would result in the abolition of the monarchy and the creation of the First Ionian Republic under the leadership of Governor Ioannis Kapodistrias. Though the First Ionian Republic was overthrown two decades later by a monarchist coup, the 25th of March continues to this day to be a national holiday in Ionia in remembrance of the Sacrifices of the Ionian People in the name of Democracy and freedom from monarchic and totalitarian oppression. On to the police report the Cantonan Police of Epirus seized a ship in the coastal port city of Dyrachion after the ship, apparently belonging to the Environmentalist organization Greenfree, attempted to ram an oil tanker in the city's port. The ship was boarded by Coast Guard and Police Special Forces after it also attempted to ram Coast Guard vessels. Finally Tyrrhenia has accepted the Ionian invitation and has officially joined the Hellenic union!

Tyrrhenia joins the Hellenic Union! Sylvania accepts invitation to diplomatic meeting!

Yesterday Tyrrhenia announced she accepted Ionia's invitation to the Hellenic Union and has as such joined. Ionian Officials have expressed their hopes that the long divided Hellenes can finally bridge the gap between them and work together for a better tomorrow. At the same time the Continental Commonwealth of Sylvania has accepted Ionia's invitation to a diplomatic meeting. However as our region is currently unstable the meeting will actually take place in Chaleroi. The Ionian delegation will be made up of the Ionian Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Ionian Ambassador in Chaleroi and top Ionian diplomatic officers of the Ionian Diplomatic Corps. The Ionian side has high hopes for the results of this summit with our fellow Democratic nation.

Cantons changed back to States! Ionia threatens sanctions! Ionian delegation reaches Chaleroi!

Yesterday the Parliament and Senate approved a change to the Ionia constitution, which had been proposed by the Minister of Internal Affairs, by which the Ionian Cantons were renamed once again to States. Though they had been called states since ancient times King Tales IX had changed them to Cantons to reflect his loose confederation model some five years ago. his idea didn't last very long as today, nearly a month after the third and final official abolition of the Monarchy in Ionia's history the various Cantons have once again been changed back to States. On to the diplomatic front with Ionian threats of Sanctions directed at Carentania. After Sylvania imposed sanctions on Carentania due its threats of closing the Long Sea's bottleneck illegally Ionia's Minister of Foreign Affairs made it clear that should Carentania proceed with this action she will be faced with Ionian sanctions as well. The Minister once again called out to all powers involved in the Endenshire base issue to sit at the negotiation table and reasonably discuss to ensure a peaceful and just resolution of the issue. He also made it clear that Sikandra has made no offensive movements toward Vangala and as such threats and attempts at closing off her ships to the long sea are illegal, baseless and would cause an explosion International, including Carentanian, oil prices. This probably comes due to Ionia's heavy trade relations with Sikandra as well as most Long Sea faring nations. Finally the Ionian Diplomatic delegation has reached Chaleroi where it is expected to meet with Sylvanian officials.

Military elements arrive in Algolis and prepare rehearsals for the major Military Parade of the 25th of March! Monitor of the Platonic Academy!

As of today military elements form Ionia's Army, Navy and Air-force arrived in Algolis in preparation for the March 25th Grand Military Parade. The city itself is fully decorated in anticipation of Ionia's most important National Holiday. At the same time the Amy's , and marches could be heard echoing through the city's main streets during the Army's parade Rehearsals while the Airforce made low flights passing over Algolis' City Center during it own preparations. At the same time security has tightened but the government reassures everyone that all will be able to watch the parade and honor our brave men and omen with their presence. On to the Democracy academic dispute the Platonic Academy of Algolis, the world's oldest university founded by Plato himself, issued the following statement in response to the "Tyrrhenian Academy's Monitor":

"Once again this Great Academy finds itself in the need to temporarily abandon philosophical and existential debate to address the foul and idiotic needs of nationalist elements on both sides of the Pinus mountian chain. Let us be clear in this address of ours, just as Plato the founder of this great School and Socrates his great teacher were, even if we might sadden a number of, if not all, sides at once; Democracy is neither Ionian NOR Tyrrhenian! It is Hellenic and on top of that an achievement of the world not the egoistic possession of either of the Hellenes! Yet another problem stemming form the millennia long division among and separation of the Sons of Zeus and Helle.

First of all let us address the more recent Tyrrhenian stance on the matter. Democracy is not Agkyran and Akrotirian. Agkyra was a semi tribal proto-Hellenic State that didn't develop Democracy but rather a simplistic form of mob rule found in most primitive and tribal cultures. It wasn't a development or progressive invention but rather a most obvious element of the Akrotirian civilization's semi-tribal nature. The Ionian side also has such a claim called the Orbetronian Akrotirian Democracy theory which dates one to half a century earlier than the Tyrrhenian one and is just as baseless for similar reasons. And on the claim of Ionian History being a "continuous exchange of coups and military democracies" I believe that Tyrrhenia should look to her own history before saying that; "Ἑμίλησε ὁ μούλος καί εῖπε τόν ἀλεκτρύονα μεγαλοκέφαλον!". And please for the love of Zeus leave Socialism and Oligarchies out of this for once!

On to the Ionian side while the Ionian claim is much more if not most serious we must remark on the paradoxical nature of the Ancient Algolian Democracy. Ionian Democracy is much more recorded and not just based on a couple of stones like the Orbetronian or Agkyran oen and is intenrationlly recognized. Ionian Democracy demonstrated active separation of powers, elements of direct democracy like the Agora, as well as upper and lower houses of representatives, recorded legislation and structured political rule with all political and legal officials being elected. In some ways it was even more evolved than today's Republics. But as our Carentanian colleagues have not thankfully neglected to point out, probably because it was their tribal ancestors that were enslaved by our City inhabiting ones, Algolian Democracy had slave elements, grave inequality of the two sexes, strong nationalist-racist elements, religious prosecution and strong class division, elements still present in today's Ionian Confederation most probably if not surely due to our fellow Ionians' "know it all" attitude when it comes to Democratic and Government System debates from which stems a great unwillingness to evolve past the ancient Algolian foundations upon which modern Ionian society is still largely based. Considering that pretext it is a miracle we even managed to achieve an abolition of slavery and equality between the two genders.

As such let us conclude by posting out once more that democracy is HELLENIC! Sure the Aktotirians contributed to its formation and Ancient Algolis and the Kastorian League are bright examples of it at work in the Ancient world but, over all, it is a millenia long evolution due to he cooperation of all the Hellenes, whether "Ionian" or "Tyrrhenian". Whether we like it or not engraved stones and rocks or thousands upon thousands of great books are not reason or proof enough for either side to entirely lay claim to Democracy. And while both may have contributed more than the other in one sector or another and may have done so earlier Democracy has grown long past the Hellenes and is now dominant among the World, just like our Ancient Ancestors wished. So let us understand that Democracy is Hellenic but the whole world may, must and shall enjoy it and prosper with it!"

Eiffeland invited to diplomatic talks! Bangalan delegation arrives in Algolis! Jewish protest in Salonika!

The Ionian Minister of Foreign Affairs has invited the Government of Eiffeland to a diplomatic meeting to discuss important matters. It is unclear however specifically what issues will be discussed. At the same time the Bangalan delegation has arrived in Algolis. The first Himyari delegation to set foot in Ionia, it has proceeded to Zappeion to initiate the talks with the Ionian diplomats. Finally the small Jewish community of Salonika organised a protest to convince the government to ban politics of hatred and fear such as those of the National Dawn party, which they accused on being Anti-Semite and Racist. While the Party itself rejected those claims once more, the Ionian Minister of Civil Protection reassured the community that while any one party cannot simply be banned without specific crimes the Ionian government will take every step to ensure that the Jewish community of Ionia is protected and that all persons are treated equally regardless of race, religion nor other views and characteristics. A police force was deployed as the National Dawn party organized a parallel protest and the two protest were in nearby areas of the city. When members of both protest attempted to collide Ionian Riot Police intervened splitting the two groups dispersing the part of the protest in that area. Six arrests and 30 temporary detainments were made.

Military parade completed! Ionia intervenes in Danmark!

Today the Grand Military parade of March the 25th was successfully completed in Algolis' government quarter, outside the Ionian Parliament building. Elements form the Ionian Army, Navy and Air-force as well as the Ionian Blue Cross, Firefighting Force, Federal Police Force and Coast Guard took part in the parade with a large number of new cutting edge equipment being seen in the parade. In his celebratory address to the nation the President of the Republic reminded the Ionians of their sacrifices for Democracy and Liberty and proudly declared that the work our ancestors set in motion in 1821 has been completed with the abolition of the Monarchy and the permanent Restoration of the Republic. At the same time the Ionian Senate and Parliament announced that the draft to authorize a military intervention in Danmark has been approved by both houses and has been signed by the President of the Republic. The Ionian Marines and Navy are already heading for the Gemranian nation while the Ionian Air-force made an airdrop of humanitarian supplies in South-Eastern Danmark. The Ionian Confederation no longer recognizes the Empire of Danmark as a legitimate nation and government and has proceeded to recognize the Commonwealth of Democratic People's Republics. Ionia however has not recognized the Commonwealth as a legal full nation but rather as an interim provisional revolutionary government that will prepare the ground for a true Democratic state. At the same time the Ionian Prime Minister declared that Ionia will fully militarily back the Eiffelander intervention to ensure that true democracy prevails in the nation. While the main Ionian Expeditionary Force will take a couple of days to reach Danmark, the 32nd Marines Brigade, the Ionian Marine Corps and the Ionian Navy were already in the nearby area and are as such already operating in Danmark. Additionally Ionia has landed a small force of 2,000 marines in Samso to keep peace and safety in the city and to coordinate humanitarian aid efforts.

Eleftherios Venizelos and Ioannis Kapodistrias awarded the Ceremonial Title of Ethnarch by the Ionian Parliament and Senate! Former Ionian King dies!

Today the Parliament and Senate oft eh Ionian Confederation voted in favor of awarding the Ceremonial Decoration-Title of Ethnarch to the deceased former leaders of the 1st and 2nd Ionian Republics, Eleftherios Venizelos and Ioannis Kapodistrias. |The descendants of both men were greeted by and met with the President of the Republic who reassured them of his personal admiration for both great leaders and gave them the document and medal officiating the Decoration of the deceased men by the Ionian State. At the same time the former Ionian King, Thales IX', who had been declared fallen and had abandoned his throne after the Military Supported revolution of the 22nd of February died today at the age of 74. After the abolition of the Ionian monarchy the former King fled to Ivernia. However he was only to live for less than a month. His family requested that his body be returned to Ionia and that he may be buried with state honors in Ionia's capital. The government allowed his body to be returned to Ionia for a private funeral but refused to spend money or give any honors to the dead King who was charged with high treason in Ionia. The President is quoted as saying "State funerals are for Ethnarchs, like Venizelos and poets like Kavafis, not traitors and fallen pretenders like Thales IX".

Ionian Prime Minister wounded in traffic accident! National Dawn split up after internal dispute! Pretender Alexandros announces claim to the "Ionian Throne"! Ionian Supreme Court prevents the pretender Crown Prince's entry into Ionia!

The Ionian Prime Minister, Georgios Dorianos Pavlou was injured today in a tragic traffic accident in Algolis' City Center. The Prime Minister has been transferred to the emergency wing of the 401 General Military Hospital of Algolis. The Prime Minister's health is in a critical condition but the nation's best doctors are doing everything they can to stabilize him. Members of all Political Parties and the Ionian President of the Republic himself sent their wishes to the Prime Minister and his family. On to the political front the Ionian Party National Dawn split up in two divisions after a major internal dispute. 1/4 of its PMs have left the Party and are now independent PMs. Rumors say that they left because they were harboring royalist beliefs but no such statement has been confirmed, probably due to the illegality of royalism in Ionia and its extreme unpopularity. At the same time the son of the late King-in-exile, Crown Prince Alexander III, announced his claim to what he called the "Ionian Throne". The Supreme Court however reminded him that no such Throne exists anymore by popular Ionian will and prohibited the entry of the pretender Crown Prince, who was going to fly to Algolis to attend his father's funeral, into Ionia. Mass protests in Algolis supported the Supreme Court's decision and called for the arrest of the pretender. The government itself though hasn't taken such a step yet.

Emergency Broadcast by IRT1!

IRT1 announcer: Ladies and gentlemen we have to disrupt our program as a result of emergency news! Field Marshall Nikolaos Plastiras was voted as Lord-regent by the Ionian Senate and parliament until the Prime Minister recovers and/or is able to return to his duties. The Field Marshall, aged 68, is a national hero in Ionia, having led the country's troops through the victorious Ionian-Tyrrhenian and Ionian-Galichian wars as well as having led the Republican faction in the Ionian Civil War of 1922 and having played a crucial role in the abolition of the monarchy and the restoration of the Republic. He himself stated that he will only stay in the position for a needed short time, as he feels that unless his country calls him to service once more, he is far too old and powerless to rule a country that should be run by her Democratic and free youth. More at tonight's central news broadcast. We will now continue our program.

Field Marshall Nikolaos Plastiras voted as Lord Regent! Ionian Prime Minister's situation stabilizes, says chief surgeon! Crown Prince arrested in Algolis' airport! Ionia announces meeting to draft charter for the International Council of Trade and Commerce!

The Ionian Parliament and Senate approved a proposal put forth by the President of the republic to appoint Field Marshall Nikolaos Plasitras as temporary Lord Regent to take up the duties of the Prime Minister while he recovers. Nikolaos Plastiras, a national hero in Ionia due to his exemplary service in the victorious Ionian-Tyrrhenian and Ionian-Galichian wars as well as his important role in the Ionian Civil War of 1922 on the side of the Democrats and his critical contribution to the abolition of the monarchy, enjoys great public acceptance in Ionia. He himself states that he will only take this role for the needed short time, as he believes it best for the new Democratic Ionia to be ruled by her youth. The chief surgeon and doctor taking care of the Ionian prime Minister announced that Mr. Dorianos' health is showing signs of stabilization. However the Prime Minister will have to stay away from his duties for quite some time due to his very serious injury, during which time the Lord Regent Nikolaos Plastiras will temporarily take his place. On to another important piece of internal news the Crown Prince, Alexander III, was arrested in Algolis Elefthrios Venizelos international airport. The pretender monarch had been prohibited entry into Ionia due to attempts to restore the Ionian monarchy. When he tried to reach Algolis despite those prohibitions the Federal Ionian Astynomia arrested him. He is currently detained in Algolis' central police department. Finally the Ionian Minister of Foreign Affairs announced a meeting to draft a charter for the greatly supported International Council of Trade and Commerce. All nations have been invited to join in hopes of securing a better and safer future for international trade.

The Friendly Confines express concern over the appointment of Field Marshal Plastiras as Lord Regent, especially as the Ionian Confederacy opts towards a path of supposed free market trade. It is a doomed fate central Europe faces when the marriage of capitalism and stratocracy intertwines, combining violence and wealth to break the spirit of Peoples & Patriots everywhere. We therefore ask of Ionia to issue an oath of peace to the world during this temporary fixture, or until a democratically elected representative of the people assumes the duties of the ailing Prime Minister.

The Ionian Confederation is a nation dedicated to peace. Nikolaos Plastiras is not a "stratocrat" but a hardcore democrat just like the entirety of the Ionian leadership, having dedicated nearly their entire lives to the struggle against monarchic or any other form of oppression. He has been elected by the elected representatives of the Ionian people and the President of the Ionian Republic to temporarily serve the duties of a recovering Prime Minister. We promise that Ionia will not engage in any wars unless attacked by any other nation. Ionia is a centrist nation, neither a capitalist nor a startocratic one and we believe that our actions have shown we only hope for peace with all nations, the Friendly Confines included.

Most Truly,

Accidental explosion in restaurant kills 12 people! Archbishop Batopeditis dies of natural causes! Naval exercise in Piraeus concludes! Colonel arrested over attempts at leak intelligence to foreign governments!

AN accidental explosion in the restaurant of the 5 start Grand Englexia hotel in Algolis killed six EYP officers who were dining there, including the director-general of the EYP, as well as six more civilians. An investigation has been launched into the security failures that lead to the explosion, which the fire department attributed to a gas or chemical leak. At the same time the Arch-Bishop of Ionia died yesterday at the age of 82 of natural causes. The Government announced that a state funeral will take place in Algolis' I Cemetery to ensure that the 12 innocent victims of the accident and the Arch-Bishop rest in peace. The spokespersons of both the EYP and the Ionian Orthodox Church expressed their gratitude for the government's move. At the same time a Grand Naval exercise in Acronauplia concluded with the participation of elements of the Army, Navy and Air-force. Finally the Military Police arrested a colonel yesterday over attempts at leaking intelligence to foreign governments. The spokespersons of all intelligence services have refused to comment on the subject.
