002 Island Discussion

None of my business but I think whatever nation claims OO2 should have that island, since it's crucial for trade and without it the already very small spot would be pointless in claiming.

Courleon has been expanded once before and that expansion doubled its size. So you could say I would have an issue with that.

Additionally, OO2 should be a part of Belmont anyways, but isn't because when I applied that was where a reduced Engellex was. I'm not saying anything about that spot since I don't want to be pixel-grabby, but the only reason I feel that the island being allotted to me would be good for the RP which Ivernia and I have already been involved. The Gothic Sea fishing issue is a dynamic in our bilateral relations and would make sense that whoever gets an expansion should actually use the territory in their RP.

I wouldn't mind Belmont having 002. It is the issue of the island. I mean, it is closer to Coeurlois territory than it is to Belmontien.

Idea! How about we make a nation that is not actually controlled by either player in that spot and have both invade it because of minorities USSR-Nazi Germany style and then have you fight over its lands! Wouldn't that be a nice game?

Concerning both requests: both of you should outline what it is you would do with the island, or come up with some sort of compromise. If one has an outline and the other doesn't, it'll go to the one with the outline, otherwise maybe we can have a community vote.

I can certainly draft an outline. However, it just doesn't make any sense to me that there would be an issue as to why the island would go with the 002 territory. It is very possible that, at some point in time, the region shared between us was one country. I am not looking to expand my borders to the south, but that island is just extremely close for comfort. If it was a little further away for Belmont and Ivernia to do an RP I would not think twice about it. But, surely, one would not think that island as a point of contention between two countries that share a border.

So...what is the final verdict on this island situation? Surprisingly (but I'm a cynic skeptic), someone has come along to add their country and make it, essentially, a satellite nation of Belmont. Can we please just settle this once and for all?

By the by, I, Kadesh aka Tir Daraigh, am also Yujin; I may be a friend of Belmont but I do enjoy challenging him and Tir Daraigh is designed to do exactly this, and not simply play second fiddle to any alleged machinations of global conquest. To be clear, Tir Daraigh is indeed a "province" of Belmont. The goal of the island, which I had hoped to name Sinneil Siar, would have been to play host to a Belmontien naval base (as well as serve as a cultural microcosm that hosted the migration of the Daric people from Ivernia). The purpose of that would have been to catalyze the population, leading to anti-military protests that demand the closure of the base and test Belmont's internal political dynamic. As far as I can tell, the entire reason to claim the island is because it is a mapping inconvenience. Gaining the island would probably lead to maybe 2 or 3 posts revolving around perhaps a fishing or other maritime dispute; while allowing Tir Daraigh to own the island could result in increased tensions between Couerleon and Belmont which increases tensions between Tir Daraigh and Belmont, providing a dynamic in Belmont Couerleon can manipulate. So allowing the island to not be a part of you can encourage RP - acquiring the island on the other hand fabricates some two-dimensional one-off crisis that won't really develop the character of either Belmont nor Couerleon and will probably be swept under the rug due to inactivity anyways.

That's my input to this discussion. Otherwise, I think it'd be best to sink the island outright so no party is offended by this OOC business.

This means More oil and fish sales! Go for it Plus it's a very interestign way to boost activity. I haven't been here very long but the description "10 RP posts a day" in the Region World Factbook doesn't seem to apply right now

The region has slowed some, but you'll not find better quality RP in NS related forums. The only RP I've found that competes is requires autistic-levels of attentiveness to statistics and weekly updating economic numbers and stuff even I, with higher level autism, don't have the time for.

Because ain't no body got the time fo that.
