Went through my old files after discovering that this place was still in existence, and I figure some people might get a kick out of this, even if they don't remember it.

Here's some of the ancient history of (NS) Europe, with maps from September 2003 and January 2006, respectively.

Here's September 2003, with the EDF/Comintern cold war still continuing. If I remember correctly, the 'cold war' went hot, somebody decided to nuke everybody, everyone ignored this action in turn and the entire thing fizzled out and was ignored.

Meanwhile, by January 2006, there'd been a large swing to the far right, followed by a large swing to the far left in response, and a broadly much more warlike and hostile Europe, other than the neutrals happily puttering along and debating things in the EU. The rotating EU presidency was also rather amusing.

If I find any more of this ancient history, I'll stick it up, if people are interested, at least.

EDIT: Behold! May 2003! And Sortain's short-lived Communist Phase.

EDIT: February 2004. The far-right swing has, by now, happened, leaving a rump liberal-democratic EDF.

Fascinating stuff, friend. I didnt join till late 2009, so its quite astonishing for me to see that this forum had such activity in 2003. Is anyone here(besides yourself) an old-timer from quite that far back? I admit I'm very curious to see more stories and tales of those halycon days.

There might be a few, but I don't know who is active or not anymore - part of why I posted the thread, in fact, to see if it would draw people out of the woodwork. You'll be able to spot Arendaal and Eiffeland if you look closely on the 2006 map, however.

I'm on the 2006 map as Teutonika, and Hindi was also a creation of mine. New Spartan Greece was a friend I knew who RP'd here for a bit. I joined the forum in early 2005 I think, though I can't quite remember the name of my first nation.

My first friend on the forum was Jurgen!

This thread does give me a certain yearning for alliance maps. If only we has such things as massive alliance politics still.

I think this is 2005 or 2006, sometime after Daracnia joined.

During the Great Southern War anyways.

Well, actually, that map is from the end of 2004. And maybe indeed it is from just before the beginning of the Great Southern War, but that started in November 2004. I even know how: Qantrix delivered weapons to anticommunist rebels in Vocur, something that was not liked by the Greater Democratic Communist Union (GDCU). Then some other things happened, and suddenly we had a full-blown war between Qantrix, Kheion, Vocurian rebels, Gunnlandia and Daracnia on the one hand and Monkecia, the official government of Vocur and the Greater Democratic Communist Union (GDCU) on the other hand. Later on Nutty took the opportunity to turn Radilo non-communist. And of course Rokolev flew around as well, against the Communists.

And the reason why I know it's from 2004 is that it was just after my arrival on the forum (September 2004).

The oldest map with Twente on it is from August 2003.

An older map(by a couple of weeks) exists, made by original forum and region founder Schumania, but I can't seem to locate it right now.

The funny thing is, there is a country called "Webdesign" on it. About 10 years ago, I often chatted in a chatbox that a guy with the nickname "Webdesign" also often visited. That was a guy from The Hague.

I've thought for a long time it might be easier to have a region map just like that August 2003 map. It'd throw away our globe concept and make some of the ethnic clustering difficult however.
