Senior Communist Party official criticises Sereniérre
AP International

In the third day of debate at the National Congress of the Vangalan Communist Party, Chairman of the ‘Romesh Nabi’ Young Communist League Subrato Praminik denounced the liberal reforms in the fellow socialist state of Sereniérre and urged against further market reform. He claimed Sereniérre was ‘surrendering’ to capitalism and described the recent flag change as a ‘disgrace’. His speech received a standing ovation from many of the attending delegates.

The ‘Romesh Nabi’ Young Communist League, named after the famous Vangalan guerrilla fighter who participated in many rebellions abroad, is known for its strong anti-revisionist stance and many of its leaders are well-known hardliners. Chairman Subrato Praminik is a controversial figure in Vangalan politics and has publicly clashed with prominent reformers and moderates, most notably External Affairs Minister Ajoy Qamaruzzaman, who warned today’s speech ‘threatened revolutionary solidarity’. The Chairman, has previously called for Sinhese diplomats to be executed and is linked to attacks on foreign embassies and businesses.

Sereniérre has yet to comment, although Subrato Praminik’s words are likely to damage relations. The speech is particularly inflammatory because of the planned high-level meeting between the two Communist nations later. It is unknown if Chairman Praminik is invited.

BREAKING NEWS: Explosion in the Aresurai City of Ridell Kills 21 People. Reformists Blame Radical Legitimists
AP International

After five days of a tense stalemate between the Reformists on the mainland and the Radical Legitimists on the southern Axifloan archipelago, an explosion rocked the Reformist controlled southern city of Ridell. 21 people, including three soldiers loyal to the Reformist cause, have been confirmed dead, with at least three times that many wounded.

The cause of the attack, at this time, is believed to be a car bomb. As for those responsible, no definitive evidence has arisen, although spokesmen for the Reformists were quick to point the finger at the Radical Legitimists. "They cannot hope to defeat us militarily without overwhelming support from the international community, support that has not come, not even from their biggest sponsors, the PASILA alliance. So, they turn to these underhanded methods to terrorize the civilian populace in a misguided attempt at turning them against us. These despicable actions cannot be supported by any one."

The Radical Legitimists, meanwhile, have denied responsibility for the attack, but strangely, seem to have given it their tentative support. "We do not murder civilians. We fight for a democratic Aresura, and plainly, so do many in the Reformist occupied city of Ridell. We cannot support the death of civilians, but we do support acts of defiance against the tyrannical military despotism the so-called Reformists have to offer. Rise up, people of Aresura, and herald the return of the one, true democratic government of Aresura!" Included in the response was a renewed call for international aid. "We cannot do this alone. Aresura must become democratic again, and we call upon the true democracies of Europe to assist us in our noble cause."

There has been no notable response from the Moderate Legitimists at this time, and ex-Prime Minister Alevras has gone missing since his call for Legitimist resistance against the actions of the Radical Legitimists. Joseph Constantine, de facto leader of the Reformists, commented briefly, "His usefulness may have come to an end in the eyes of the Radical Legitimists. Dialogue and democracy is no longer in their interests, because they finally recognize they cannot win through such means. They instead turn to silencing their opponents, be they their own, or us. We cannot allow the Radical Legitimists to have any sort of power for much longer, or they shall bring ruin to all of Aresura."

An emergency meeting has also been called by Reformists to discuss further responses to the bomb attack in Ridell.

Being that all parties concerned had agreed to place the future direction of Aresura in the hands of the Aresuri people in the form in electing those who will write a new constitution which in turn will dictate the what form the new constitutionally created government will be. For the so called Radical Legitamists to now turn their back on the will of the people, it is they who have abandoned democracy and they who must be condemned for doing so.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs

The People's Republic wishes to convey to its counterpart in Kilkilla that the statements issued by Mr. Praminik are highly incendiary and grossly inaccurate. We take serious offense at the statement and consider them highly intrusive into our own internal affairs. No one country has a monopoly over the teachings of socialism and as such the views adopted by Mr. Praminik are severely close-minded and we urge the Communist Party of Vangala to take actions against elements that may potentially harm our relationship in the short and long term.

Though that may be the case, the People's Republic shall, at this time, allow for the invitation to the senior leadership of the CPV to remain in place. Though we urge the CPV to ensure that the state visit remains free of animosity.

Kaname invites Batavian Prime Minister to Talks
AP International

Touzen's Lord Protector Hiroshi Kaname extended a public invitation to his Batavian counterpart, Prime Minister Diepenbrock, today, suggesting a meeting between the two Heads of Governments to "discuss matters of common interest and challenges faced by both countries."

The remarks, which were made during a speech in Kaga Prefecture at a citizen assembly event, have been readily republished in the national media and the official publications of the government, suggesting they were more than mere empty phrases.

"I think our two countries share common challenges and visions in the world of the 21th century. Although separated by geography, we share common values such as democracy, freedom of speech and the belief in the sanctity of free enterprise. I would be honored if Mr. Diepenbrock would perhaps bestow upon us the honor of making a visit to this great country one of these days so we might be able to intensify the dialog between democratic states", Kaname was quoted as saying.

Kaname, who was elected in May 2010 on a policy of democratic proliferation and protecting constitutional rights, has recently brought the country on a course of discord with the Kingdom of Warr, a country situated closely to the Batavian Republic in Northern Germania, over the handling of the situation in Aresura. Both Touzen and Warr and their allies have dispatched military forces to the region, supporting different political factions in the torn country. Kaname had also earlier supported the Batavian position in a territorial dispute the country is having with the Celtic kingdom, leading some to suggest that the Lord Protector might seek to forge new ties in a region the Touyou-based democracy had until now neglected diplomatically.

Reformists Demand Radical Legitimists "Abide by the results of the elections.", Warn of Grave Consequences
AP International

Two hours ago, the Reformists' emergency meeting concluded, and a collective statement was issued that, in part, demands that the Radical Legitimists, currently in firm control of only the Axifloan archipelago, "... abide by the results of the elections for the Constitutional Creation Oligarchy. These elections were agreed upon in the Council of Nations, and to break such an agreement not only condemns Aresura to a state of civil war but also condemns international support. You do not receive support from any save PASILA because the international community recognizes it is you who rejected the peaceful solution, the legal solution. Failure to abide by this agreement will result in grave consequences, including severe loss of legitimacy in the eyes of the international world. You cannot find a single nation in Boreas who endorse your position, latching onto PASILA who only wish to use your cause to create a neo-imperialist outpost in Boreas. They go so far as to ignore the ideology they claim every message to support: democracy. The elections are ignored because it is better for them to support a democratic republic that has lost the mandate of the people."

"Consequently, we directly challenge the motives of PASILA, specifically Touzen. You claim you support democracy, yet you ignore the simple fact that the Radical Legitimists were the ones who rejected a legitimate national election to reform our government. You call us a military junta, but you ignore the millions of Aresurai people who support our cause, which is not to install such a thing, but instead install a more effective democratic republic. We only used the military to bring reform, because reform through legal means was impossible, thanks to the corrupt, bureaucratic mass that called itself our government. You claim we are dangerous, yet it is the Radical Legitimists who call for military aid in this conflict that grows worse by the day due to their actions. You claim all these things, but your actions point you in the opposite direction. The Reformists of Aresura hereby condemn Touzen as a nation of hypocrites, intentional or not, and demand that they withdraw their support of the Radical Legitimists, who day after day drag this nation deeper into civil conflict. Do you wish for peace? Then leave peace to the Aresurai. Rest assured that, should you agree to this, we shall demand the exact same from Warre and Bantyr, and all other international actors who wish to involve themselves in our crisis."

"Which brings us back to the Radical Legitimists. We say again, you must stop this madness, and accept the results of the most legitimate election this nation has had for decades. This election has been endorsed, silently or otherwise, by many nations in the international world, as well as the people of Aresura, and any claims of election fraud are patently false. Nonetheless, we are even willing to negotiate a recount, if it is the one thing that keeps us from what we desire: peace and unity. Accept our olive branch, or you will be forced to accept harsher terms when you are defeated by the people of Aresura, the true holders of power in our great nation."

The official results of the election, lost in the recent crisis, show a small majority of Reformists with six seats, the Legitimists the minority with four seats, and three third party candidates acquiring the remaining seats. There has been no official response by the Radical Legitimists at this time, though with the disappearance of ex-Prime Minister Alevras, who was one of the Legitimists elected to the Constitutional Creation Oligarchy, a recount may indeed be necessary. This depends, of course, on what the Radical Legitimists say.

Radical Legitimists Reject Reformist Demands, Renew Own Demands While Reformists Call For Reelections
AP International

The Radical Legitimists have finally responded to the Reformists with clear, even disdainful, rejection of their demands. Included in their statement, "We will not discuss anything with the rebels who call themselves Reformists. We will not negotiate and give them any sort of legitimacy. We will not abide by the election because the election results are patently false, altered by the rebels for their gain, and there is no guarantee that it will not happen again, even with international observation. The rebels will surrender themselves to us, the true government of Aresura, immediately. Rejection of this demand, through vocal rejection or silent rejection, or any sort of military action on our lands, will result in a swift and devastating counter-attack the rebels cannot resist. It is we, not they, who have the support of the international community. Vocally, silently, and materially. Surrender now and suffer the consequences for your treason, before you bring more ruin upon our great lands."

Reformist response was swift, stated by Joseph Constantine. "It is clear now. The Radical Legitimists reject peace in favor of war, they wish to selfishly condemn Aresura to civil conflict that, should PASILA intervene, may not have an end for some time. But they expect us to make the first move. While we will build up our defenses, we refuse to fire the first shot. Instead, we shall march onwards with the Constitutional Creation Oligarchy, calling for new elections for those missing seats held by the missing ex-Prime Minister and any delegates who do not recognize the CCO as legitimate and have, therefore, resigned from their posts."

Along with ex-Prime Minister Alevras, all three other Legitimist representatives have disappeared or sided with the Radical Legitimists, leaving four seats open that would represent the Axifloan archipelago, the Herran island to the east, the Dulth archipelago further to the south, and the southernmost Zenoa archipelago. Save for Axiflos, all other areas are, if tenuously, militarily controlled by the Reformists, and the calling of reelections should be relatively simple. As for Axiflos, the Radical Legitimists have made it clear they will not have any part in the CCO, so the calling of reelections there may be ignored, further complicating an already complicated issue.

The latest events in Aresura only proves that it is the Radical Legitimists that lack any kind of credibility and so in the eyes of the people and government of Guiana it is they who have lost all pretense of legitimacy.

The Constitutional State urges restrain by all parties and implores the Aresurai government to not resort to steps that will be utilized for propaganda purposes by insurgent forces. The restoration of full republican, democratic control over all territories of the country must remain a priority for all involved parties that seek to maintain peace. At the same time we condemn the undemocratic and unjustified eviction of elected candidates from the so called CCO.

High Priest's Questioning of Bogan King's Legitimacy Threatens Regime
AP Malachor

Yesterday, an unprecedented event shook the Bogan regime: Gunnar Kunn, one of the seven High Priests who serve as Boganhem’s maximum religious authority said that he had received “signs from the Gods” that their Mandate of Heaven conceded to Rikhard V had been revoked.

Even though a near-totalitarian State, the Bogan regime concedes free expression to the seven High Priests that coordinate the country’s religious life, in face of several holy texts that prescribe that freedom. However, the highly conservative High Priests are usually very supportive of the regime, in exchange for enormous benefits and privileges. However, this apparently diligent High Priest announced in a morning ceremony that King Rikhard V’s days were over.

This ‘Mandate from Heaven’ is a religious notion core to the Bogan way of thinking. The whole of the Bogan society revolves around the concept of mandates and delegations – all power belongs to the Gods, which delegate it in the King in the form of a Mandate from Heaven. The King can delegate his powers on his subjects, thus creating Governments and Assemblies. However, the High Priest Council can interpret heavenly signs that signal the end of the Mandate – if High Priest Kunn’s interpretation is deemed correct by his 6 peers, a Great National Council, composed by that Council and the upper house (Hochgamot) and the lower house (Undergamot), can decide favourably to that pretension and practically ‘overthrow’ the King. That is a rare event, although the current King ascended to power on those grounds, due to his father’s mental illness, interpreted as a way of the Gods revoking their Mandate.

The impunity of the High Priests may provide for an independent analysis of King Rikhard’s rule in practice, which is very dangerous to the regime’s survival – the newspapers carrying this news were put out of circulation and internet connection is down in several parts of the country, in what seems to be an attempt to conceal this fact, since any harming of the High Priest could be considered a sin and would harm Rikhard much more.

As for now, the High Priest Council is deliberating, and has been deliberating for ten hours, trying to reach a conclusion on religious grounds. Security forces have filled Vodenskove’s, the city where the Council resides, streets and reinforced their presence in several areas.

High Priest Council Declares Mandate from Heaven Revoked - Approval from Upper and Lower House Needed
AP Malachor

The Bogan regime’s crisis goes on. After 26 hours deliberating, the High Priest Council concluded that there were indeed significant sings of the revocation of the Mandate of Heaven from Rikhard V. We could not access any official communiqué by any High Priest, but our informers told us that the seven High Priests are arriving to Malachor to conference with the upper and lower house of the puppet parliament. The question remains: will that parliament remain a puppet after these events? The Hochgamot is composed by the nobility and other clergy largely supportive of Rikhard. The Undergamot is more hostile, but could not show it, out of fear.

Nevertheless, we know that, according to tradition, during the Great National Council’s meeting, the King must not have its soldiers inside Malachor nor can he be there. Despite having the power to dissolve both houses at all times, a precedent has been set in previous Great National Councils and the King is temporary powerless to revoke delegated powers on those houses. There is not much more information we can access, due to the general communication breakdown in the country, probably initiated by the regime. Rikhard is in a delicate position, as he cannot break down this whole costumary procedure, under the risk of a great increase in inpopularity.
There are reports of several demonstrations in major cities have been violently suppressed.

Thousands Take Part in May Day Demonstrations in Hajr
AP International

Tens of thousands marched in the major cities of Hajr yesterday, as part of the traditional celebration of International Workers' Day on the first of May. Almost 30,000 people reportedly participated in a demonstration in Sidra, the nation's largest city, with thousands more protesting in Jerusalem, Marj Ayyun, At Tufah, Al Qapiyya, and other cities. Authorities cordoned off the central government district in the capital of Al A'raf, forcing protesters to stay in surrounding districts. The demonstrations were calm and orderly by Hajri standards. Clashes were reported in several cities, leading to the arrest of around 100 people. Three people were reportedly killed.

The May Day protests, which were organized by the major left-wing opposition parties in Hajr, are the largest single-day demonstrations since the 1970s. They were banned by the government in 1980 amid armed conflict between communist militants and the father of the current Sultan, Saad. His son, the current Sultan Huseyn, has recently introduced greater freedoms in Hajri society, approving democratic elections, allowing political parties to take part, and now by informally lifting the ban on socialist protests on May Day.

Demonstrators called on the Sultan's government to put an end to corruption, protest workers' rights against authoritarian and unjust employers, and to improve the lot of the working class in Hajr. Among the concrete demands made by the demonstrators were the creation of jobs, the introduction of progressive taxes, benefiting the poor at the expense of the rich, and a greater deal of protection for Hajri industries. Many workers in the struggling Hajri industrial sector, as well as large amounts of unemployed, took part in the protests. Hajr suffers from a very high unemployment rate of 21%. Workers in the oil industry were forbidden from attending.

Social democratic leader Ibn Kardal, who spoke to the crowds in Sidra, warned the government that it would face difficulties if it did not listen to the demonstrators. “The voice of the worker cannot safely be ignored,” he said. Yahya El Mursufi, the leader of the Carentania-aligned SDP-L, who spoke in the socialist stronghold of Marj Ayyun, struck a more militant tone, promising “class conflict” and a general strike if the protestors' demands were not met. Armed marechaussee broke up several Communist Party-led demonstrations in North and South Khaleej Provinces, where the government is fighting a low-level insurgency against militants of the Vangala-aligned party.

Many of the thousands of small-scale, officially illegal trade unions active in Hajr also took part in demonstrations. Unions were banned soon after independence was achieved in 1946, in an atmosphere of anti-communism. Like the parties, unions hope to benefit from the “Hajri spring” introduced by Sultan Huseyn in recent months, and spread unionization among workers. There are rumors that a general nation-wide union is in the works, in cooperation with the left-wing opposition, but these could not be independently verified.

It is unknown how the government will react to the increasing militancy among workers and the Hajri public in general. “Freedom is a fragile thing in Hajr right now,” a union leader from Jerusalem who wished to remain anonymous told AP. “The Sultan has given it to us, but can take it away at any moment.”

Hosokawa urges Reformists to cooperate, pledges help to Loyalist forces in Aresura
AP International

Touzen's Foreign Minister has called upon the Aresurai Reformists to cooperate in a press conference in Axifloa today. Hosokawa is on an ongoing visit to the Loyalist stronghold to coordinate the Constitutional State's position with leaders on the archipelago.

"If Mr. Constantine desires peace, if he desires democracy, if he seeks to uphold human rights, the rule of law and the sanctity of private enterprise, then he and his followers should begin by disarming themselves. I believe disarmament would be a clear commitment towards the democratic future of the Aresurai Republic, and I believe it would be a clear signal of the willingness on behalf of Mr. Constantine to seek peace in Aresura, not power for himself and his insurgency", the Touzen Foreign Minister announced in a policy statement before the assembled press.

"Even if the international community has blatantly refused our attempts to diplomatically solve the ongoing crisis in Aresura, the Constitutional State continues to strive for a satisfactory solution that will first and foremost put the Aresurai people first, that will put democracy first."

"Meanwhile, our aid operations are going along well, by air and by sea, and we are tirelessly coordinating with our Aresurai counterparts to ensure the wellbeing of the civilian population."

In a nod to international voices that hat criticized the Touzen aid efforts, Hosokawa commented that he was "[...] very pleased to announce that the government has decided that it will significantly step up aid efforts in the upcoming weeks, and we are actively seeking for international NGO partners with whom to cooperate."

"Nevertheless, while we are actively helping the Aresurai people and are exploring all our diplomatic opportunities in this crisis, we nevertheless continue to be prepared to take a more active stand for Aresurai democracy if needed. We call upon all involved actors to show restrain and to not deliberately provoke further casualties amongst the already suffering Aresurai population. The government of the Aresurai Republic, which we continue to recognize as the sole legal representative authority of the Aresurai people, has been briefed that the Constitutional State will offer unlimited support to the Republic, if requested, to defend it against violent and terroristic acts. Our two governments have agreed to strongly coordinate our actions in this crisis and to resolve ongoing issues by constant briefing amongst our two nations. A joint-staff for the handling of this ongoing crisis is in the process of being formed. This is however a burden that I feel should be shared by all those that say 'yes' to democracy and 'no' to hypocrisy, and I hope that internationally respected partners in peace such as Fortaleza Real or
Drottninggården will step forward to do their part for a prosperous, democratic and free Aresura."

Military Standoff Raises Tension in Malachor
AP Malachor

Amidst the session of the Great National Council, tension rises in Malachor as there is a military standoff in the entrance of the capital of Boganhem. This morning, King Rikhard V ordered the Royal Army to besiege the Gamotspalats, where the Council that can dismiss the King is deliberating. Word has it that the King ordered the arrest of all members of the High Priest Council, Hochgamot and Undergamot. Reacting to that order, several army officers disobeyed the King’s orders and, under the command of Colonel Hugg Kratzen, are currently blocking the loyal forces from entering the city, threatening them with force. As they are not particularly outnumbered, the King has ordered the forces loyal to him to hold fire. According to sources, the dissenting forces claim they are ‘only guaranteeing the respect for Bogan traditions, which implies the inviolability of the Great National Council’. The standoff continues as the Council deliberates.

Joseph Constantine Makes Direct Reply To Touzen, Reelection Campaigning Ongoing
AP International

The de facto leader of the Reformists in Aresura, Joseph Constantine, today made a speech he called "A direct response to the foreign minister of Touzen, Minister Hosokawa." In it, he claimed, "I have always desired peace in Aresura, and I have always advocated the diplomatic solution first, the military option last. I cannot, in good conscience, force my colleagues to disarm without any sort of guarantee that the Radical Legitimists will do the same, indeed, without a guarantee that the international community will withdraw its numerous warships from the international waters off our shores that continue to hurt us economically. Should these guarantees be made and steps taken in this direction, then I will convince my colleagues to do likewise."

In the speech, he also opened the possibility of direct negotiations with Touzen and other interested parties. "Should Minister Hosokawa wish to speak to me directly, or even through an officially designated third party, I would be happy to receive him and correct the numerous incorrect assumptions made about myself, my colleagues, and our collective intentions. Rather than listening only to the words of the Radical Legitimists, they should listen to our words as well."

In the midst of all this, rhetoric from both the Reformists and Radical Legitimists have, suddenly, silenced, at least compared to their previous, warmongering vocabulary. AP analysts speculate this is due in part to international pressure, specifically from Touzen and Sereniérre, though these speculations have been, as of now, unconfirmed.

Meanwhile, elections in three of the four disputed seats are nearing voting period, though in all of them, Reformist endorsed candidates are running mostly unopposed, save for a handful of candidates receiving no comparable funding or endorsement. This is due to the Radical Legitimists announcing a boycott of the elections and, indeed, of the Constitutional Creation Oligarchy (CCO).

This boycott further complicates the situation, because in the Axifloan archipelago, the sole remaining stronghold of the Radical Legitimists, no campaigning is taking place, disallowed by the Radical Legitimists. More importantly, it means that, even if the other three reelections are concluded successfully, the CCO cannot function as intended because not all its members are voluntarily present. This problem has not yet been addressed directly by the Reformists, though it has been often implied that it is "... one of the major causes of conflict with the Radical Legitimists."

Bantyr Agrees To Pull Out, Cargo Ships Filled With Aid Leave Port Fiona.
AP International

After speaking via satellite with Joseph Constantine, the President and Naval Command agreed to lessen Bantyric naval presence down to only two destroyers. The move comes after a multitude of requests by the Constitutional Creation Oligarchy (CCO) leader Joseph Constantine to agree to the terms of the treaty that created it and allow Aresurai shipping to once again flow out of Aresurai ports. The destroyers will be placed in international waters north of Aresura to watch and protect the incoming cargo ships from anything that could threaten their safety, meanwhile all international shipping will be allowed to pass into Aresurai waters without fear of Bantyric incursion.

"We felt that this would be the best move to make after being in Aresurai waters for so long. Despite our mission there to stop democracy from being choked by the Touzen presence, we saw that the cost of our presence was too much. We have faith that the CCO can and will maintain order in Aresura and create a true democracy for the Aresurai people, our presence is not needed to do that. We also hope that by lessening our presence there that the Touzen Navy will also do the same and allow for true democracy to take hold, however we see the chances of this happening to be slim at best. I would also like to warn that if any Touzen warship is to come near our cargo ships and interfere with our aid operation that severe consequences shall follow." - Fleet Admiral Neil Craig, First Fleet

Meanwhile as part of the pull out a convoy of cargo ships shall be making it's way to Aresura to offload several million Bancs in aid and reparations for disruption of shipping. The ships shall be carrying things such as food, clothes and other essential items needed for day to day living.

The Kingdom of Anglyn recognizes the Constitution Creation Oligarchy as the sole governing authority in Aresura and by this recognition, Anglyn pledges to provide humanitarian aid to be delivered to Green Sea ports and airports of the Aresuri mainland. All Anglysh ships and aircraft delivering this aid will be under the watchful eyes of the Royal Navy and Air Force so as to prevent any attempt to hinder passage.
