MONTELIMARIAN FACTORIES WILL BE BUILT IN AQUITANIA​

Bordèu - The Secretary of Defence has announced the agreement with Montelimar's Consortium d'Industries de Défense and Cinq-Mars Industries to establish plants in Aquitania to assemble the CMI-40A1 MBT and the CMI-80 IFV. The products of these plants, in addition to others that are being negotiated, will help equip the Grand Ducal Army with modern equipment. Though the details of the deal has not been revealed, nor the locations selected, but a great many jobs will be created in the areas where they will be established.

GRAND DUKE AND FIRST MINISTER LEAVE FOR PARIS​

Bordèu - Invited by Queen Diana of Belmont, Grand Duke Jean III and First Minister, the Duke of Choiseul, have left for Paris to meet with the Queen and her Prime Minister as well as the three Frankish Kings. Though the details have not been revealed, it is likely the meeting is to discuss the schism that has developed between the francophone monarchies.

Secretary of Resources will meet with Montelimar Petroleum Minister and oil company representatives.

PARIS TALKS TAKE NEW COURSE​

Paris - The talks at what has been called the Francophone Conference, has taken a new route as the First Minister of Lorraine has suggested that, instead of a Francophone Union, a Council of Francophone Cooperation be establish. The Council "will allow agreements to be negotiated on a case-by-case basis and in such a way they will not conflict with nations' pre-existing international commitments." This strategy seems to have garnered some interest with His Most Catholic Grace, Grand Duke Jean III, who is attending the meeting, as well as the Belmont Prime Minister.

MERIBIAN NUCLEAR TESTING OPENS QUESTIONS ABOUT AQUITANIAN SECURITY​

Bordèu - With the detonation of a nuclear device as the announced deployment of long range missiles capable of carrying nuclear warheads by the Soviet government in Meribia, the question on whether the conventional military forces of the Grand Duchy are sufficant as a deterrant against an attack from the communist country has come into question. Since the rise of the communist state, there has been an uneasy peace between Aquitania and Meribia due mostly to military parity, but such a deterrant may no longer be viable with the threat of nuclear weapons now in the equation.

Though there is discusions being held in the Council of Nations pertaining to the matter, sources in the ducal government indicate that more sunstantial measure may be have to be taken to insure Aquitanian security.

It has been confirmed that His Most Catholic and Royal Highness, Grand Duke Jean III, had met with King Armand of Montelimar and during that meeting Aquitania was offered a Tier Three membership in the European Defence Federation. Accepting the invitation, His Highness will travel from Valmy to Nuremburg to personally sign the treaty.

Though the license built CMI-30A5 will remain as the mainstay of Ducal armor forces for the near future, the Army's General Staff is considering a program to begin replacing the tank with a more modern vehicle suited for the 21st century battlefield.

La Vraie Croix - Resotation To Begin on Bayonne Cathedral
The latest restoring and refurbishing project on the Cathédrale Sainte-Marie de Bayonne is scheduled to begin. The work on the cathedral, which was built between the late 14th century and completed in 1612, except for the two spires which were not finished until the early 19th century, will begin by the end of the month and is expected to be completed in time for the cathedral's 400th aniversery of its consecration in 2012.

Continuing to condemn the Oltremare government for the order to deport them, Aquitanians have welcomed over one thousand Oltremare Catholics, arriving by chartered aircraft along with their meager pocessions. The former Oltremare citizens will be housed at several Templar monestaries until such time apporpriate accommodations can be provided them by the Grand Ducal government.

The Secretariat of State of the Navy has entered into negotiations with the Royal Navy of Montelimar to purchase one of the aircraft carriers scheduled to be retired from service. If the deal is made, this will be the first such vessel to enter into service with the Grand Ducal Navy.

Freiheit Surrenders; War Continues - Even though the so-called Faust Regime has surrendered, combat operations continue as the Freiheit "Southern Army", that had invaded Aquitania, continues to fight. At this point, though under heavy attack from the air and by artillery and other ground units, the Freiheiters have advanced several kilometers into Aquitanian sovereign territory, but according to information from the Secretatiate de Défense, that attack, that seems to be directed towards Bayonne, has, due to likely lack of supply, support and reenforcements, lost most of its impotence and additional reports indicate that the attack formations are begining to break up.

Though what has happened harkens back to the Great War, the lessons learned from the blood stained battlefeilds of that dark time and since, the bravery of our men and women in uniform and most importantly our continued trust in God have proven to be Aquitania's salvation.

Aquitania Committed To Otchi State - "The world may not be the same when the smoke clears, for, as it is God's will, the Otchi will have a place they can call home where they will be free from demons such as Faust and any like him." These are the words said by His Royal Highness, Grand Duke Jean III when asked about the future of the Otchi people now that the Faust government has surrendered, though combat operations still continue as the Grand Ducal armed forces continue to drive Freiheit ground forces out of Aquitania and attack military targets in southern Freiheit. When asked where exactly the Otchi will call home, his answer was only, "Where God has deemed it to be."

Grand Duke To Attend Funeral Of The Holy Father - As Aquitanians mourn over the death of His Holiness, the Vicar of Christ, Pope Marcus Clemens II, His Royal Highness, Jean III Grand Duke of Aquitania and Grand Master of the Holy Order of Templars and His Eminence, Cardinal Alexandre Renard, Archbishop of Bordèu, Primate of Aquitania will attend the funeral to honour the Holy Father. Accompanying the Grand Duke and the Cardinal will be the Cardinals and Archbishops of the Church in Aquitania as well as Templar Masters and Senior Priors, ranking nobles and commons.

La Ligne Rouge Reached - With La Ligne Rouge reached and an estimated one hundred thousand Freiheit soldiers surrendering when their path of retreat is cut off, Coalition forces have continued to consolidate positions, eliminate pockets of resistance and begin to restore order in the region.

HRH Grand Duke Jean III, in an effort to establish political stability in the region, has appointed Maréchal Alexandre de Bouglione as temporary Military Governor of Otchiterre, and, with the cooperation of the Otchi led by Daniel Algru, the eldest son of the late Otchi Cheiftain, Jonas Algru, will begin to organize a working civilian administration.

Renegade Freihiet General Captured - General Adolf Dieter, Commanding General of the Freiheit Southern Army, has been reported captured after a prolong firefight with eliments of the 16th Infantry Regt. in a coastal village just south of the Red Line.

General Dieter, who was responsible for the attack on Aquitania, who refused to cease his offensive even after his government capitulated, and who ordered his troops to conduct a guerilla action against Coalition Forces, had attempted to escape by sea in a stolen fishing trawler. The trawler was force back to shore by Grand Ducal patrol boats, where the General and several of his staff officers attempted to battle it out with the army unit. Three of Dieter's staff officers were killed while all the rest, including the General, suffered various severity of wounds.

It is expected that Dieter will recover from his wounds and will stand trial for war crimes.
