Batavian PM's Comments Considered Insult To Aquitanians

"Perhaps these people should close their bibles and go back to school where they can learn about their country instead of fairy tales of wizards who created cults of personality and claimed to walk on water."​

During the Communist Era, such a comment by a Batavian government official was not only commonplace, it was something that was expected to be heard from those that made it their duty to tear down the people and institutions that did not adhere to their ideology or fit within the vision of the world. Though similar quotes can still be read and such comments still be heard from some of the old communist hardliners in Batavia, this quote is not by one of them, but was uttered outside the Batavian Parliament building by none other than the sitting Prime Minister of Batavia, Alfons Diepenbrock. Though such comments today would not garner much reaction if it came out of one of the communist states, as such comments are still expected to be heard from them, but the comment has brought criticism and condemnation for Prime Minister Diepenbrock, for it has been assumed that such comments made by the head of the Batavian government had gone the way of the dodo and the regime of Jap de Graaf, but it would appear, at least to Aquitanians, that assumption was quite wrong.

Aquitania Recognizes Constitution Creation Oligarchy - The Grand Ducal government has today recognized the Constitution Creation Oligarchy as the legitimate governing body in Aresura and has directed the Aquitanian ambassador to that country to open a dialogue with the Reformist led government.\

Trade To Resume With Aresura - With recognition of the Reformist led government in Aresura reestablishing diplomatic relations, the Grand Duchy will resume economic relations as well.

Villesen Accords Creates Regional Alliance - When representatives of Aquitania, Anglyn and Guiana met with those of Sereniérre at the SAGA Summite to discuss the situation on Aresura, little did they know that a new alliance would be the outcome. The Villesen Accords has created what will be known as the Northwestern Collective Security Coalition or NCSC with, as Grand Duke Jean III has announced that, Charles Gaspard, viscomte de Ardecha, will not only represent the Grand Duchy of Aquitania, but will also be the alliance's first Chairman and will leave for Villesen by week's end.

Aquitania, having recognized the new government has dispatched Henri Bontecou as Aquitania's new ambassador to Aresura.

Solaren Terrorists Remain Treat In Ochti Territories - With the increase of EDF forces in Lorraine, the threat of new terrorist attacks by fanatic followers of the Solaren church are expected resulting in the placing of security forces in the territories as well as the border region on high alert.

Aquitania's Consul-General in Butuan is attempting to determine the validity of the Cantigny allegations.

I am instructed to express on behalf of her Engellexic Majesty;

It would be quite superfluous, and quite impertinent, if the Grand Duchy of Aquitania should attach any self-serving national interest to the circumstance between the Commonwealth of Cantigny and the realm of Butuan, which has been born by the credit of European Defence Federation interference within the regional affairs of the Implaric-Oceanic Territory. Her Majesty the Queen will only arise her ministers for the purpose of adverting the motion with which the Grand Duke of Aquitania concluded with his observations; War in the Implaric-Oceanic Territory.

There could be no difference of opinion as to the great value of the respect which the Chancellor of the Commonwealth had so generously bestowed upon every territory of the Implaric-Oceanic Territory; and it has struck her Majesty that it might appear somewhat ungracious and imperious if no acknowledgement was to be made by the European Defence Federation on the value of the right to self-determination of the Implaric-Oceanic peoples that Cantigny has upheld since Chancellor Ilchester ascended to office.

The Union of Great Engellex will appreciate to observe that in the future statements from the Courts of the European Defence Federation, on the matters of south-eastern Europe, the Federation would be eager to make an acknowledgement of the value and the contribution the Commonwealth of Cantigny has made to the liberty of the Implaric-Oceanic peoples.

Aquitania Declares War On Solaren - Yesterday, in an emergency combined session of all three houses of the Estates General, Grand Duke Jean III made the following announcement.

With the televised broadcast of the anti-Pope, Urban IV, announcing the launching of the chemical attack on Aquitania's ally and sister Catholic state, the Kingdom of Lorraine, and then declaring war on the entire European Denfence Federation, but while our prayers go out to those who have and still suffer from the evil acts of Urban IV, I have no option but to declare that a state of war exists between the Catholic Grand Duchy of Aquitania and the Unholy Kingdom of Solaren.

As is it within my authority as Grand Duke and Sovereign of Aquitania, I have ordered the deployment of assets of the Grand Ducal Navy to support EDF operations, both offensive and defensive, and to engage elements of the Solaren fleet when and where it is encountered. In addition, air and land forces have also been ordered activated for deployment where needed at the earliest possible time with Templar ground and air regiments, as these units that are maintained at the highest state of preparedness and are under my direct command, have been oredered to embarkation areas for deployment.

Though there is no doubt that Urban IV has declared this war as the absolute head of the state of Solaren, he has also, as the undisputed head of the Solaren Church in which his authority is unchallenged and absolute within the church hierarchy, has declared that the Solaren Church is also at war with the EDF, and being so, I have ordered the detention of all Solaren clergy within the realm and territories under the authority of the Grand Duchy. As these clergymen have sworn fielty to Urban IV above all other earthly entities and authorities, they must therefore be considered possible enemy combatants, and their necessary detention will be for both thier own safety as well as the for the safety and security of the citizens of Aquitania and the Ochti territories.

The Constitutional State questions the requirement of detaining non-combatants under the pretext of security considerations. As long as there is no clear evidence that an individual is planning concrete steps to disturb the public order, detaining such a person is a dubious affair at best. Especially considering the status of the detained as clergy of a major world religion, the Constitutional States worries that this is the beginning of even broader prosecutions and violations of the freedom of religion in the Grand Duchy, and we thus call for the immediate release of those detained for their religious beliefs and offer to arrange for their extradition to Touzen territory should Aquitanian authorities consent to such a course of action.

Being that they do not adhere to the pact between citizen and government within the Grand Duchy or its territories, and they have renounce all fielty to the crown and its governments in favor of a foreign entity, if it is the desire of the Touzen government to accept the clergy of the Solari Church, then the Grand Duchy will be more than happy to ablige, but mind you, only those that have not committed crimes within the Grand Duchy or its territories will the Touzen government be allowed to take custody of.

That we implore the Grand Duchy to consider otherwise the unreasonable and disproportionate approach to the clergy and ministers of the Solaris Church, practicing within your realm. Without impeachable evidence to bring connection of wrongdoing to these men it cannot and shall not be justified, the conditions placed upon them; tolerance is an ingredient to a free and fair society, and the credit of that to the Federation is being called for great revision. Indeed, the actions of the Grand Duchy will only be served to reinforce the reputation developing of the Federation as harbinger for war and strife in Europe.

And while there is no need for reiteration of the opinion of her Majesty and ministers, concerning the Federation’s deployments, that was dispatched to Winchester, we will reaffirm our position on this in due to the declaration by the Grand Duchy.​
