Newly appointed West Germanic President Eirik Leeuwenhof announces increased foreign policy activity

In his speech to his inauguration as President of the WGF at the Kongress Palais in Kassel, Eirik Leeuwenhof has stated that he will see to it that foreign relations will improve and that the WGF finally starts to get active on the world scene.
"As a people highly dependant on trade we have to ensure that the states of the world regard us a respectable and equal member of the world trading comunity, and as a people who has always strived to increase the life quality of all its members, be they man, woman, or child; German, Dutch or foreigner, it is our first and foremost task in a globalised world to do all our best so that the people not only of our neighbouring nations, but our whole world can be as happy and free as the citizens of our federation. We can only ever achieve this if the nations of the world even know who we are, and so I see it as my most important duty in this legislature period to increase the activity in foreign politics."

Members of congress unanimously consider this a sensible proposal, adding that "with such a man representing our federation, this goal should be well achievable".

Leeuwenhof offered the West Germanic Nations as a neutral negotiator between the nations of Hajr and Batavie

In the discrepancy between Hajr and Batavië regarding the Fulanistani Commonwealth Act, Eirik Leeuwenhof has signalled in a dispatch to both countries that the West Germanic Federation is willing to serve as a neutral negotiator between both parties to find a universally benefical solution all can agree on.

Update: The nation of Hajr regretfully has rejected the proposal, Leeuwenhof hopeful for a change.
"We have presented the arguments speaking for a negotiation, and hope that the government of Hajr will accept this time. Until the situation is clear no steps towards an evaluation of the political process will be taken."

President critical of Commonwealth Act, unsure whether the positive effects aren't overshadowed by negative ones

After it was clear that mediation would fail, President Leeuwenhof decided to take stance in a press statement, generally welcoming the idea of increased supra-national cooperation, but wary if it might not backlash.
"While it is generally favourable to see nations work together to try and achieve their goal, and while it is even the better if culturally so completely different nations manage to find together, the background and execution of this cooperation remain dubious, and it is questionable if the diplomatic damage done by such a critical interferance in another nation's sphere of influence might not hamper the process of international collaboration more than help it. I want to stress however that aside of these issues we consider the passing of the Commonwealth Act favourably."

The Sultanate praises the wise words of the West Germanic President, who has seen, as so many others have seen, that the unannounced, unilateral move enacted by Vlaanderen is a destabilizing and damaging influence on the noble Southern Hemisphere.

This is an announced, bilateral, mutual and legal move. Hajr continues to spew outright lies and it is embarrassing for what we thought to be a level-headed government.

President Eirik Leewenhof irritated by recent Hajri criticism of the Batavian governmet

According to our insider, Leeuwenhof complained to a close government member about Hajri allegations of Batavian unwillingness to solve the conflict, feeling personally offended about his efforts in finding a compromisable solution, complaining that he feels "punked" with the Hajri now claming the Batavians were the ones not willing to find a solution. He is probably preparing an official press statement.

We hope the statement issued by the President serves to calm the situation instead of tensing it further. Right now is the time for extreme cautiousness.
