Now you mention it, yes. For example, Danes are not Germanians, though I'd go with the consensus even if I can still carve out my own identity and refuse to be Germanian. :snooty:

Since debate and nomination time kind of merged together, would anyone object to an earlier vote time - that would last for three days instead of one?

In other words I'll post the poll on Wednesday morning (CST) and it'll last until Friday morning. This leaves us with another two days of nominations and debate.

Do we really -need- a universal name for the continent, especially one thats so Germanocentric/unrepresentative of the other ethnicities in the Eurozone?

As was the case in previous naming conventions: this thread and the poll will be for posterity purposes; establishing the popular choice to be labeled on the official map. You of course have the right as a player to have your characters refer to any place anyway you choose, but we have to have to label our map in a way that is representative of the popular will.

I think an official divide between Francophonic and Germanian entities should be there. The divide is important for rp in my own view.

I had preferred Lotharingia, but I prefer the divide, so I would opt for keeping Francophonia distinct from Germanophonia. Aside from Preuti-Borussia and Gallia-Germania, the other alternatives don't match up

Us Italian folks (of which there are now four, what with the newcomer) should probably receive some sort of name, too.

If this trend of segregation is favored, do you want me to suspend the poll until this is settled?

They are (Germanians and Franks ~ whatever) totally distinct issues. As such, a split is desirable in nomenclature.

It's worth noting how I stylized my initial suggestion which did have it segregated. I have spoken for the area of Mercia, which contains the Franco and Anglophone regions, reaching from the opposite shores of the Continent to the southern shores of Kryo's new pet project. I tend to judge the area of "Germania" as the area from Solaren to Franken and as far east as Karlovia. It is to this area that I subjected the possible name, Lotharingia, as it was Germanic and Italian-like all the while being seasoned with Francophone influence.

Would I be correct in thinking all Celtic nations before me have been Scanian? Even Ivernia in that regard, considers itself Scanian, not germanic or lotharingian or what have you. So I think I'll abstain from the vote.

[merged discussion and poll threads]

So with the original question settled on Lotharingia as a compromise, that is what we'll have on our map until the subsequent questions about further divisions are answered in their own time.
