After professional analyses of the photographs sent to our offices from Scanian officials, we have undoubtedly confirmed that the man featured in these photographs is not employed by the Staatsveiligheid or any other Batavian agency. It has been decided that the Scanian authorities are looking for a way to capitalise on the rebel insurgency in our country. Any action taken by Scania will be met with the utmost possible defence, that can be guaranteed.

MÅLMÖHOLM: Today in his annual speech to the Scanian Chamber of Commerce, the Minister of Finance for the States Union announced that the Union was forecast to be running a 100 billion kronor deficit (16 billion Marks) due to the economic stimulus measures needed to combat the collapse of the state guaranteed housing bank Bostadsförmedlingen Bank. The Bank had become embattled due to speculative attacks on the quality of the mortgages lent by the Bank and whether the Scanian State Treasury was sufficient enough to maintain the guarantees. The speculators were fuelled by a report from the Institute for Financial Responsibility that warned that the Treasury had not ensured enough funds set aside to guarantee the increasing amounts of mortgages lent to Scanians.

The Finance Minister said also in his speech, that the next Union budget would need to include deep spending cuts to combat the losses the Treasury had made and promised to have the state finances in order within two years. It is unclear at the moment how the markets will react to announcement from the Treasury.​

MÅLMÖHOLM: With the end of the Troubles that nearly destroyed the fabric of the States Union, the newly empowered Government has embarked on a thinkers conference across the States Union to rethink Scania's future foreign policy in light of past failures. The Prime Minister said in a statement that she, "was hoping to get as many interested parties and citizens involved as possible" and "would have a document to present to the Storriksdag by the next session in August."

The first stop on the trip will be to the islands to hear the view of the minority Ågarders.

Government annuls AGE Treaty and applies to join the Herta Accords

MÅLMÖHOLM: Today signelled the end of an era, the Storriksdag voted today in a large majority to annul the provision of the AGE Treaty. The Alliance had suffered from the demise of the Levantine States and the internal troubles within the Scanian State Union, the twin engines of the Alliance. This will mark the end of the premiere democratic alliance that fought during the Great War.

In the session of the Storriksdag, the State Minister (Prime Minister) announced that the Government had applied for membership in the Herta Accords, widely seen as the replacement for the Alliance. The State Minister said in a later statement, that she hoped that this would be "the beginning of the retrenchment of Scania within the democratic and northern diplomatic systems, for which Scania has been absent from for too long".

The Opposition has signaled that they will request a referendum on the Act of Secession, should the application be approved. Additionally, the Rådets från Regionkommittén (Council of Regions) said they will launch a constitutional case against the Government if they are not included in the formal ratification process.

The Rådets från Regionkommittén is a new institution inserted into the Constitution Act by the Good Monday Agreements between the Free State of Ågard and the Scanian State Union which ended the Troubles. The Council is charged with representing the interests of the Regions (Scania, Ågard and Dålärna) within the central government. It must sign off on all major acts that would "seriously affect the autonomy of the regions".

The Government does not have a majority within the Radets från Regionkommittén, after losing the Ågard regional elections to the Ågarder Nasjonalistisk Parti and thus losing their majority within the Council.

MÅLMÖHOLM: After a successful vote in the Rådets från Regionkommittén (Council of Regions), the Government submitted the Membership Negotiations Act, 2010 to the Storriksdag for a confirmation vote something which was granted quickly under the unanimous fast track procedure. Members of the Vänster-Kommunisterna (Left-Communists) boycotted the vote since they did not want to "be part of the capitalist plot to destroy the North". Thus is was approved and the official membership negotiations have been opened to secessed to the Herta Concords.

The Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Mikael Försmark told this newspaper that he believed that membership negotiations would be quick since the "Chapters of the Herta Concords in many ways overlap former AGE Chapters, such as the creation of the harmonised markets, structures to create common tariffs, right to abode for, at the time, AGE citizens as well as freedom of capital, services and people. We also harmonised intellectual property rights , transport and energy policy. We also believe we can move quickly to open all other areas with particular speed to the economic areas which we have strong synergies."

However, Opposition Socialist leader Åsa Ökstrom said that her party would resist any harmonisation on Economic and Monetary Policy saying that "such a harmonisation would be an unacceptable loss of sovereignty and as such, we will not support any future bill that has such a provision and we would campaign against ratification."

A poll released this morning for the SVT showed that nearly 60% of citizens of the State Union approve membership negotiations and 54% said they would vote for ratification. Support was highest in Ågard at nearly 70% for membership negotations and 64% for ratification as is and lowest in Dälärna with 51% for negotations and 44% for ratification.

MÅLMÖHOLM: In an announcement, State Minister Brigitta Åkerstedt said that the her Government had applied for membership to the Northern Council. This has been a long term goal of the Government, she told in her press release and that she hoped negotiations would be completed with haste. She said that during the foreign relations tour around the State Union, people had told her that they wanted "more Scania" in the world and she said she had listened and was embarking on a "new policy for a new age" and that "Scania would be a partner within Europe and not hide in gentle isolation."

The Opposition has signalled that they are support for the application and ratification is expected to be speedy if the application is approved.

MÅLMÖHOLM: In an announcement to the Storriksdag, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Mikael Försmark announced that he has dispatched a team of 20 legal and social experts to Danmark to help with the worsing civil situation in the Danish country. In his announcement, he said that "it was important for us to help our other Scanian friends to solve their problems" and "Scania has learned alot from our own troubles and that knowledge could help Danmark work out a solution to their Troubles."

The Opposition parties voted in a motion of support for the mission which will be budgeted 55 million SK (Skånska Kronor) for one calendar year with an option to extend.
