Argoculc
– the capital city of Etnaea, where the líx lives and the Congusaxa convenes
Auícclusculganupaxum
– lit. "Republican Reformation Party", the 2nd most prominent leftist party within the Congusaxa. Lead by Leuxos Antista Molccaga, a proponent for the Carentanian school of socialist thought.
Catubísaxa
– the general staff and highest military command arm of the Etnaean Kingdom, translates to “warlord's assembly”
Catovegalíx
– the current líx or king of Etnaea; all kings adopt a regnal name upon assuming the throne, abandoning the name they were given at birth.
Chrisdhertu Auicclupaxum
– lit. "Christian Republic Party", a moderate party which claims Christian affiliations. Generally centrist, leaning neither towards the left or right especially much. Currently holds majority in the Congusaxa.
Cingetíbu
– "leader of 100" in Etnaean, roughly equivalent to a Captain rank
Congusaxa
– the legislature of the Etnaean Kingdom, translates to “common assembly”

No significant history of violence, peaceful colonization and mutual assimilation resulted in pidgin culture and language which continues to influence the mainland as well now.

Emphasizes a position of democratic socialism, with gradual implementation of "desirable" socialist ideas in the context of the existent system. Considered revisionist by Molccaga's Auícclusculganupaxum.
Qus
– the native name for Dumnusiga, the Etnaean (formerly Crown) holdings in eastern Himyar
Raotaea
– the native Raroua name for Isarmorga, the isles in the southern sea just to the west of New Engellex and south of the Eastern Cape of Himyar. The name means "land of the black sun" in Raroua; the model colony of Etnaea.
Raroua
– the natives of Raotaea, or Isarmorga as the Etnaeans call it
Senos
– a senator, or representative, in the Etnaean Kingdom, literally translates to “elder”. The First Senos leads the Congusaxa, serving as a Prime Minister equivalent.
Torcagnísaxa
– the tax and revenue agency of the Etnaean Kingdom, translates to “wealth management assembly”
Voicalíxu Vacaium
– lit. "Post-Crown Platform", a coalition of smaller Libertarian, feminist, green, and Post-Delegationist parties, of which the last makes up the greatest part. Advocates abolition of the monarchy and state through gradual reform.

It has been announced this morning by the Catovegalíx and the Cursignaxa (his family), that cuíx Dagos has officially completed basic training as of today, with his unit's graduation having occurred at 8 o'clock this morning.

This announcement finally explains the otherwise publicly active cuíx's abrupt disappearance from most media some weeks ago, with the small articles he'd previously written for the Scucato ad Etnae no longer appearing. It had initially been believed that talks for a marriage were perhaps underway, or that the cuíx had been sent off to school internationally—doing so in a void of news as to protect his privacy. The true answer however is altogether much more intriguing, and represents what many hopeful members of the Congusaxa believe is a shift in the crown's general scheme of operation.

While precedent does exist (with Teutogatolíx during his time as cuíx being perhaps one of the best known examples) for members of the royal family to participate actively in the military, it has been a conscious decision by every subsequent ruler to avoid direct involvement in the affairs of the kingdom's armed forces—despite the allegiance said forces nominally owe to the crown. It's thus interesting that when questioned, sources from the Cursignaxa estate reported that the Catubísaxa had been contacted by cuíx Dagos and the Catovegalíx prior to his enlistment, ostensibly to determine their willingness to accept him.

Now, though the name of his unit has not been released such as to protect the privacy of the cuíx himself and his compatriots, it is known that he is currently serving with the parachutist arm of our kingdom's army. At present, he only holds the rank of corporal, and according to sources with both the Cursignaxa estate and the Catubísaxa, no special treatment will be bestowed upon him due to his birth. “The same rules apply to everyone,” confirmed Cingetíbu (Captain) Selioax in his capacity as spokesperson, “it's the case for all other blue-blooded recruits, and it'll be the case here.”

The involvement of the crown family in the military once again has also caused some excitement among the Crown & Country Coalition, which currently holds 67 of the 290 seats within the Congusaxa. Among their goals, the reformation of the armed forces ranks quite highly, and many in those circles believe that the participation of the crown family in the state will also result, over time, in the participation of the state in the crown's colonies. Though the Catovegalíx and his family has no direct ability to pass laws, party-leaders nevertheless believe that they may prove increasingly influential in the coming years—with their stake in the armed forces now very much proven—in determining the direction which the military will take.

“It's altogether surprising and exciting,” commented a Senos with the CCC. “We hope that where the cuíx leads, the voters will follow in the coming election. The Cursignaxa are showing where their interest lies, and we should take heed of that.”


Several avalanches in Korisaculc's southern hinterlands, right in the rising foothills of the Anaibra range, have prompted local authorities to issue general evacuation warnings to several villages in the area. It's believed that the last few avalanches and mild earthquake-tremors which shook the region throughout the previous week may continue, with the winter conditions—a snowstorm on the way—likely making the situation there increasingly hostile for residents. At the present time, the Crown Highway Patrol as well as several volunteer officers from Korisaculc's own police-force are on station to provide assistance and aid with the evacuation. Elements of the Crown Air Force are participating in rescue efforts for several villages especially hard hit by the calamity, with helicopters being utilized to air-lift stranded civilians from their snow-buried homes. Despite initial concerns regarding the utility of helicopters in such a capacity, the vehicles are proving themselves to be exceedingly effective.

Due to inclement weather, the elections for mayor of Argoculc have been postponed indefinitely by order of the city's crown magistrate. Emergency run-off elections had been scheduled after the two competing runners, Carsios Helicaga and Iotimalos Bolgios, scored within 1% of each other in an election featuring a half-dozen other candidates. Now, the run-off elections have been canceled, and will be resumed whenever “weather permits,” according to the magistracy. The incoming blizzard is expected to leave six to eight inches of snow in the city, and many emergency services are engaging in last-minute preparations to deal with this rare bout of bad weather. Citizens are advised to stay indoors, and treat the day of the storm as a day off, so as to avoid casualties during the usual morning and evening commutes to work via the rail-lines or roads.

The port of Taorcsos will also be closed for at least the next two days, with shipping rerouted to the smaller Marocoteaum. Merchants in desperate need of berth are suggested to seek out temporary accommodation in either Portusgalia or Breotonia, but Taorcsos will be unable to accept new arrivals. With government officials working at the port receiving the next few days off, all subsequent arrivals will be undocumented—and thus not allowed to enter. According to an official spokesperson, “all measures are being taken to resume activity as quickly as possible.” All individuals who require transit to the colonies are advised to secure it immediately, or otherwise choose alternate transportation via either Portusgalia or Cantigny.

Scucato ad Etnae

Kasr Sankoh, Dambaín 3u, 1954 — Kasr Sankoh, previously closed by order of the líx to all but his own representatives, officials, and specifically approved personnel, has now been opened up to general travel according to spokespeople with the Cursignaxa estate. Having operated as a “reserve” along with its hinterland for the native Qusites since the 1880s, laws had been in place ever since then which effectively prohibited Etnaeans or whites in general, with a few exceptions, from traveling into what has oft been referred to as the “heart of darkness”.

Apparently, during the annual meeting of the magistrates—the officials responsible for the management of Dumnusiga on the líx's behalf—it was finally decided that the prohibition which had been in place would not be renewed, owing to concerns raised by both aboriginal community leaders as well as the Cursignaxa estate itself.

This announcement has caused some great measure of excitement among the anthropological and archaeological communities, with the fabled pyramids and tombs of Kasr Sankoh and Old Qus now open to them. The history of the area is not well known past the 17th century, when written records from the 3rd and 2nd Qusite Kingdoms end. Thus, there is significant interest among many researchers in the possibility of now discovering the workings of what is believed to be one of the planet's most ancient civilizations. Though confirmation has yet to be obtained, it's believed that digs and investigation will be monitored and moderated closely by both the local magistrate of Kasr Sankoh, as well as the local priesthood—which is nominally responsible for the people, culture, and maintenance (if not general running) of Kasr Sankoh.

What this measure means in a practical sense is that the long-anticipated merging of the Cursignaxa's holdings with the Crown government and the kingdom proper is now firmly underway. Having made his intentions clear in the previous year, the process is now beginning to incorporate Dumnusiga into the kingdom as a genuine integrated polity—rather than a personal holding of the líx. While the true nature of Dumnusiga (particularly as concerns its relevance to the Congusaxa and voting rights) as a part of Etnaea has yet to be decided, the Congusaxa is slated to spend the next month at the very least discussing the issue, with several off-call meeting already scheduled. There's debate abound regarding various proposals, and it is at the moment still unclear whether some of the more egregious ideas brought up (e.g. a “united” kingdom(s), Dumnusiga as a voting duchy or province, etc.) would even be acceptable to the Catovegalíx and Cursignaxa.

Though the Cursignaxa's finances are (insofar as we're aware) holding steady, with Dumnusiga still making more money for the estate than it costs, the Catovegalíx has been trying to palm off the colony onto the Crown government for the last few years now, in an attempt to cede responsibility for it unto the Congusaxa. “I've no wish to rule two countries separately,” he famously said in 1949, “I'm coming to think that I cannot alone both manage and create the instruments of state.”

One of the ideas which has garnered the greatest controversy as concerns Dumnusiga's fate is that of making the area a voting overseas “province” of the kingdom in a similar manner as Isarmorga. While neither the Cursignaxa estate or the líx himself have spoken either in favor or against the idea, popular opinion generally leans in the latter direction, owing to the substantial cultural divide—some positing that a division of the more cosmopolitan and culturally Etnaean coastal areas from the Qusite interior to be the best solution.

Another interesting issue will doubtless be that of the military's participation in the territory, as well as the status of the private forces currently on commission with the Cursignaxa. Unfortunately, the Catubísaxa refused to comment. More news will be shared as becomes it becomes available.

The digsites include what's believed to be TOMBS and TEMPLES primarily PREDATING the 2nd or 3rd QUSITE KINGDOMS, and thus predating the people that currently make up the majority of the territory. It's hoped that these excavations will help to provide invaluable insight into the DEVELOPMENT of CIVILIZATION in north-eastern HIMYAR, and in the continent as a WHOLE.

While the proposal by the Imperial government of Valkany is both gracious and appreciated, it is not, at the present moment, necessary for foreign agencies or personnel to operate within either those territories administered by the Crown government or those lands, fiefs, holdings, estates, etc. presently under the jurisdiction of our sovereign. It is the opinion of the Crown government (particularly those ministries and independent agencies responsible for considering such positions) that the resources available to the Etnaean people and kingdom are wholly sufficient and satisfactory to deal with these harsh climatic conditions despite both the suddenness and rarity of such an event.

Nevertheless, the Imperial government's show of support--as well as that of our friends and neighbors in Portusgalia--has been noted and will be remembered in the days to come. God bless.

Argoculc, Dambaín 6ua, 1954 — It's now official: the Workers' and Family Party, formed as a merger between the social democratic People's Platform and the centrist Christian Union, will be splitting after nearly two years as a combined entity. Alcohol prohibition, education reform, and the expansion of the welfare state as a whole are the prime issues of contention within the party, with internal tensions mounting ever since the 1953 Summer Subsidies Bill was passed despite the protest of nearly half the party.

Now, though Duiccaga had previously refused to comment, both he and Anibalos Guiscaga appeared together at what was to be the last meeting of the party chiefs in Argoculc this, announcing to both their own members and to journalists that the WFP would no longer exist as of that moment. When questioned about it, Guiscaga commented that though the two joined together in 1952 with many similar ideas and goals, at the present time many of these have been “accomplished” and thus their present agendas have increasingly “diverged”.

While Guiscaga has reconstituted the Christian Union under the new monicker of the United Christian Democrats (indeed, absorbing the errant Republic First! Party and the “Faithful Fellows” who'd refused to merge with the People's Platform in 1952 and themselves split), Duiccaga has himself abstained from either founding or actually joining any given political party for the time being. As such, the leftist establishment has been left in something of an odd situation, with no clear or defined leadership and with the primary leftist organization suddenly nonexistent. Though Ancogenos Loccudos has already declared the creation of his supposedly “traditionally socialist” party, the People's Progressive Party (PPP), and Leuxos Molccaga has done the same with his Republic Reformation Committee, there exists no direct line of succession, in absence of Duiccaga's direct support, between the WFP, the former People's Platform, and any other left-leaning political organization.

With nearly 20% of the Congusaxa now devoid of representatives (as they're party-less and thus not allowed to sit), the líx has temporarily suspended the legislature pending agreement between himself and the First Senos on how to proceed. Though no definitive decision has been made, sources within the Cursignaxa estate have expressed the líx's personal opinion on this matter, essentially stating that emergency elections may now be required—for simply allowing representatives to switch over to a new party isn't entirely fair to the voters, now that the country's largest party has gone and disappeared overnight.

In regards to the party's finances, the Torcagnísaxa has assumed responsibility for the funds remaining after the party's dissolution, and will parcel them out to those organizations which are direct successors. This has raised some criticism, however, particularly from Loccudos and Molccaga, both former WFP members whose newly founded parties aren't yet officially recognized as successors to it. For now, the Torcagnísaxa has wholly refrained from dealing with the funds at all, and will likely follow where the First Senos and líx lead rather than making any concrete decision independently.

The First Senos will continue to serve out the remainder of his term, but will not be able to serve for reelection unless he joins a political party by May. Given the state of things now, unless another coalition pops up between now and August, it's growing increasingly unclear just how the next elections will swing!

Eastern Cape, Dambaín 7u, 1954 — The first Etnaean peacekeepers have arrived in the Eastern Cape last night, having been dispatched from Isarmorga shortly after the Empire of Valkany's ratification of the International Resolution against Genocide and their subsequent agreement to the terms put forward by the Crown government on behalf of the signatory states of said convention. Only a handful of companies amounting to little more than 500 men are currently operating within the country, and their only goal at the present is to simply pave the way for the arrival of further long-term peacekeepers from abroad as well as the relevant dignitaries, humanitarian aid workers, journalists, and investigators.

In an effort to prevent active provocation and even potential further destabilization, though all units either already deployed or en-route are indeed combat-capable, the majority are not exclusively combat troops. The vast bulk of those being dispatched are military police or engineers, there with the express purpose of assisting in the reconstruction and helping both white and black communities deal with the aftereffects of the conflict. Though their current task is to erect the facilities necessary for the housing of the arriving international troops and personnel, it is expected that more significant deployments will soon begin in the coming few weeks to the conflict hotspots in the colony's interior.

Already, a rather sizable hab-zone has been set aside just outside Port Victoria, the Eastern Cape's premier city, and it grows with every day as peacekeepers continue to arrive from Isarmorga and now too from Gallo-Germania in small amounts as well. It's expected that the international tribunal tasked with both investigating and prosecuting suspected cases of genocide in the Eastern Cape will likely be convened here, though the mechanism for it has yet to be concretely established or defined by the signatory states of the International Resolution against Genocide.

One issue already plaguing arriving peacekeepers is that of refugees: a great many, both white and black, having been uprooted from their homes by the violence of the last month or so. While some are able to afford to cross the borders, many flee towards the coast in the hopes of finding succor in the cities or hopping on a boat in any given direction. Some are successful, but a great many find themselves destitute, homeless, and unemployed—especially the aboriginals, who are overall much less likely to speak Valkanian.

“We've got a lot of work cut out for us here,” commented Acgocatubí (Commodore) Geonos Isenaix, the overall chief of Etnaean forces there, already having established his own HQ. “It was fraught with problems before, but the recent conflicts have only added to them. We're going to have to work together with our friends and allies extensively to make lasting progress here.”

The deployment of troops so promptly from Isarmorga was a point of some controversy both within the Congusaxa (prior to its suspension yesterday), and even within the Catubísaxa itself. With the majority of soldiers there being of mixed Etnaean and Raroua descent, it was initially believed that dispatching them might serve to either agitate or otherwise upset the sensibilities of white Valkanians. However, from Acgocatubí Isenaix's commentary, it would appear that no obvious problems have arisen to that effect: “we are demonstrating the utmost professionalism,” he said, “and people tend to recognize that. We're not here to hurt anyone, but help everyone.”

Small patrols have already begun in some of the more divided and reportedly violent neighborhoods in the outskirts of Port Victoria, in cooperation with the local police forces. Thus far, the peace process would appear to be off to a relatively good start.

Argoculc, Dambaín 12u, 1954 — Two announcements have been made by the líx today, with both being equally surprising in their implications.

First, the Catovegalíx aspires to be the first líx to travel overseas. While it's been fairly par for the course for various líx to move about throughout Gallo-Germania (Lothariniga) for various reasons, there has yet to be a single one that's actually traveled to Occidentia, Tartary (Touyou), or Himyar. Now, the Catovegalíx has stated his intention to visit Isarmorga, stating that he'll be doing so “relatively soon”, but failing to provide exact dates for reasons of security and personal safety. This aligns with the plans made public by the armed forces to reinforce the South Seas Squadron, and will coincide with the movement of peacekeepers from the mainland to the Eastern Cape—thus providing the sovereign with a suitable escort on his journey.

Further, there are unconfirmed rumors that a stop will be made in Tythis and possibly even Qus, as to investigate the state of preparations in Dumnusiga for the upcoming referendum. It is said that the líx views measures to incorporate both areas (Tythis & Qus) into the Crown under a similar free association system as Isarmorga positively, and his visit will coincide with the formation of an exploratory committee to judge the possibility of such civic integration and shared participation.

Second, a measure has today passed both the Congusaxa and the Cursignaxa estate (it requiring direct approval from the líx) regarding the representation of Isarmorga within the former institution, with specific consideration given to the territory's increasing population, growing economy, and relevance politically.

The 1922 Isarmorga Agreement fixed the amount of representatives from Isarmorga to 38, to coincide with the number of recognized clans as well as the population of the isles. The remainder of the representatives, all 314 of them, would all hail from the Etnaean mainland, what with the majority of the Kingdom's population and its largest clans being located there. Now, in 1954, demographic and political changes have resulted in a restructured agreement, with changes to it approved in a series of sessions of the Congusaxa by both the First Senos and the líx himself.

In essence, the revised agreement expands recognition of local clans, provides for the creation of new ones (on the basis of Etno-Raroua cultural diffusion), and expands the number of representatives that will sit within the Congusaxa. Altogether, nearly two dozen clans—either previously unrecognized or newly divergent—have been granted official recognition and running rights by this agreement, thus expanding the Congusaxa as a whole to a standing 412 members; 7 added to Etnaea itself and the remainder awarded to Isarmorga. This means that almost a whole fourth of the entire kingdom's votes for and within the Congusaxa will be coming from Isarmorga. This will come into effect the day prior to the emergency elections, thus allowing them to come into use immediately.

And indeed, the numbers would seem to support such a revision—something that's been heavily advocated for by the Etno-Rarouan political elite for the last decade now! With a population of almost six million souls, and an economic sector which is becoming much more vibrant given renewed investment in both the Implarian and southern Himyar, Isarmorga's position within the Crown is becoming much more prominent.

“While I won't pretend to speak for all of us,” commented Eraicca Toiccascga Vero, one of the more prominent members of the Toiccascga clan, “it's nevertheless the case that this is what many of have been hoping for.”

He went on to say that it “represents a renewed commitment” by “Etnaea to Isarmorga and vice versa.”

This revision sets an interesting precedent, as it allows for further changes as they become necessary. A legal basis would now exist for the document to serve as an all-encompassing one to apply to all Crown territories, and so the inclusion of Dumnusiga within it in the same manner as Isarmorga is thus legally possible.

TYTHIS DEVELOPMENT GROUP will begin DETAILED PROSPECTING and GEOLOGICAL TESTING on both TYTHIS and select areas of mainland DUMNUSIGA. EXPLOITATION and DEVELOPMENT of most the area had been PROHIBITED by the RESERVE ORDER up until the area's transfer to the CROWN GOVERNMENT. Several GEOLOGISTS suspect the presence of CRUDE OIL, NATURAL GAS, and possibly OTHER CHOICE MINERALS among the country's highlands. INVESTMENT in the TDG coming in from multiple MAINLAND CORPORATIONS, especially those hoping to find an alternative source for platinum, bauxite, cadmium, and some petroleum products--all of which were PREVIOUSLY IMPORTED from KYIV, and have very USEFUL INDUSTRIAL APPLICATIONS. Will COINCIDE with CONSTRUCTION of NEW ROADS to ACCOMMODATE FURTHER WORK.

LOCCUDOS ARRESTED following his REFUSAL to PRODUCE (and, according to police, even apply for) ADEQUATE PROTEST PERMITS for a small RALLY held by his party in EAST ARGOCULC, outside the soon-to-open ANDUIGA THEATER. Protesting what they viewed as "unacceptable government opulence" and "wasted spending", the group of about 500 protesters, lead by LOCCUDOS, spent nearly TWO HOURS on the plaza before being DISPERSED by the local police department. LOCCUDOS and several others were ARRESTED and are being temporarily held, PENDING a hearing with the local MAGISTRATE. LOCCUDOS will not (and CANNOT) be PROSECUTED, but it is expected that the GENOSAXA and CONGUSAXA will at least provide a SLAP ON THE WRIST.

STUDENT EXCHANGE PROGRAM with TYRRHENIA has been ANNOUNCED and is undergoing IMPLEMENTATION, according to the CROWN ENVOY to the country, SCITOS ACCEBION BRÍTA. The program is supposedly set to operate along SIMILAR LINES as the exchange program with IVERNIA, students on the university level being given the option to finish their degrees (after having spent at least one year in their home-country's university system) abroad. Students above the age of 15 will ALSO have the option to engage in a similar program, where they will be hosted by a family and attend at the least one semester and at the most a year of school in the host-country. Bríta comments: "cultural exchange as such provides a valuable mechanism for fostering friendly, cooperative relations between nations," going on to also point out the potential benefits to students, "we offer programs in engineering, and the material sciences that are unavailable in many institutes there, and likewise, there are several medical programs in Tyrrhenia which are as yet not implemented here." While the decision was INITIALLY controversial, given Tyrrhenia's place within the RDTO, the support of the líx and the Crown Office for External Affairs eventually allowed for the Office for Education & Public Development to pass the measure.

NEW BALLOT OPTION causes some measure of ALARM, with the PROVISIONAL DUMNUSIGA GOVERNANCE COUNCIL, the body responsible for the organization of the upcoming REFERENDUM in both LITTORAL and INTERIOR DUMNUSIGA (otherwise known as Tythis and Qus, respectively), deciding to add an option which would allow voters the option to choose for the COMMISSION for the DECOLONIZATION of HIMYAR to oversee further proceedings. The inclusion of such a choice has resulted in a number of TYTHEAN organizers to SPEAK OUT, with some even calling for a SEPARATE, NON-INCLUSIVE REFERENDUM for BOTH TERRITORIES. "We're not Himyari," Aleksos Phagoi, a local Tythean council leader, said, "and what goes for them [in Qus] isn't what should or will go for us." The proposal for a split referendum is thus being seriously considered, with further adjustments of elective boundaries perhaps necessary for other parts of the coast should implementation occur. Leaders in Kasr Sankoh silent on the topic.

VALKANY CONCEDES, declaring the EASTERN CAPE COLONY to be FULLY-INDEPENDENT. RDTO bloc refuses to acknowledge new state, alongside several other European states, believing it to be a sham-state created by the imperial government. The CROWN GOVERNMENT has released a statement wherein it likewise REJECTS this "Republic of the Eastern Cape" and its constitution. Peacekeepers are set to remain in the country for the time being, alongside their Tyrrhenian counterparts; now to assist with decolonization inasmuch as ensuring general stability.

CONGUSAXA, CATUBÍSAXA to MEET concerning ETNAEAN INTERVENTION in the EASTERN CAPE. The presence of PEACEKEEPERS was authorized by both departments at the beginning of the month, and a review of progress thus far will take place on the 27th. While no CONCRETE PLANS have been laid out, Catubísaxa spokespeople have commented that the developing political situation may call for "reevaluation" of Etnaean involvement. The meeting will be held with the entirety of the sitting Catubísaxa in attendance, as well as the Scucosaxa (defense committee) branch of the Congusaxa. "Dissatisfaction" on the part of the líx, several sitting senators, and a handful of military leaders, resulted in the meeting being scheduled. It's believed that Carentania's recent announcement, whereby the SOCIALIST COUNTRY has REVISED its former position and decided to indeed DEPLOY FORCES to the Eastern Cape. "We stand by our commitments," said one spokesman, "come what may. We are determined to have an independent Eastern Cape, one free from all foreign influence. Upon assuming full independence, it is our priority to ensure all foreign troops depart in all capacities--regardless of whether ours are still there at the time or not."

TAORCSOS CELEBRATES 300 YEARS. Having been founded by the TEUTOGATOLÍX to serve as a new HARBOR and NAVAL HUB following the TEUTON WARS, it prospered and grew extensively as a result of both his patronage and from that of his successors. NOW, as the SECOND LARGEST CITY in all the CROWN REALMS, TAORCSOS celebrates its growth with a series of events, fairs, shows, and parades which will take up the majority of this coming week. MAYOR managed to secure funding from CONGUSAXA, CURSIGNAXA, thus able to ALLOW for such a lavish celebration. CROWN OFFICES RESHUFFLED, with several prominent positions being moved around and numerous officials replaced. CONGUSAXA approved several new appointments, most prominent among them being the promotion of AGRICOS TANISGA BRÍTA, formerly Crown Envoy to Ivernia, to the position of Crown Minister for External Affairs. No other top offices experienced personnel changes, with only Aeioinios Segatisium choosing to retire after having made numerous previous attempts to do so. Agricos Bríta, of the Tanisga family, has enjoyed SUBSTANTIAL support in the CONGUSAXA for his position, and has displayed, according to official reports, "tremendous confidence and competence necessary for such a position."

It's been a while since I've done this, a few years now, and the last time was an altogether happier occasion. This is a decision which will doubtless be divisive, yet it is entirely in line with the history of both our people and our faith.

I would preface what comes next with a verse: "the kingdom of god is within all man." It is a line whose wisdom we in Etnaea recognized early, and a tenant which we hold inviolable. To pursue one's conscience, to seek out divinity within and without, is a noble endeavor regardless of which path one takes to achieve it.

Now, though the Pope lies dead in the ground and his successor yet to be chosen, the scheming oligarchs who rule behind the shadows are already moving. They ask for a place in the world, to seek alliances and partake in political blocks. To deal in worldly, secular affairs inasmuch--if not through the lens of--as theological ones. Can you imagine that? The Tiburan Pope, supposed master of the souls of millions of men and women, engaged in opportunistic diplomacy?

There is not even a Pope! All this is done by the men who would make themselves one, and what does that say for the Church? Does that not indicate a deeper, more dangerous corruption? Is it a symptom of the system itself, or a fault of the men within it?

We have witnessed the power of faith first-hand in the past few years. It is a force of great division inasmuch as unity. A force of destruction just as it is one of creation. Solaren shook all Gallia with its actions, and the fanaticism displayed by those men bound to Urban--by their souls, they believed--continues to draw the violence out, long after the war's final conclusion.

And what is a Pope but merely a man who claims dominance over men's souls? I have never pretended to do so, and I reject any power over men's consciences. I reject any such claims.

My eldest son, Dagos, approached me once when he was young. By the Concord of Arminium, my ancestors have forever been the primii inter pares, the supreme authorities on faith within this Etnaean realm. He asked me how I did it, for he worried of performing in that capacity himself after his lessons on the subject.

Truthfully, I told him the same answer I will now give to you: that I never quite knew.

Though I am its nominal head, I am in truth neither the first priest, nor the spiritual leader of this "Reformed" Catholic Church. I do not feel the power of divine inspiration, nor do I feel as though communion with the Tiburan Church has imbued any upon me. It has forever been a political entity moreso than a truly religious one, and to deny that is to deny a simple fact of history.

I will not tell men how to feel, how their sprits and souls and minds must be. Neither will I abide any of my successors doing so, whether or not they bear any conscious will to do so. It may have been prettily dressed up and granted legitimacy by the Pope many centuries ago, but in truth it is nothing more than a state Church. A tool, one established by my ancestors to assure their own primacy of power within their domains. I reject it. I reject it as I reject communion with Tibur, Papism, and any claim to religious or spiritual supremacy or primacy on my part.

What does this mean? There is now, from this moment forward, no more "Reformed" Church. I will not abide it. I apologize to those who felt some great attachment or affiliation with and for it, but I myself cannot in good conscience allow it to continue to exist. Let men seek wholeness within themselves, and find salvation however they will, but I cannot tell them how, or what, or why to seek. I am no divine vessel, I cannot pretend to that.

There will be questions, of course. Thousands of pastors wondering where now to go, or what now to do. I tell them the same as I do all of you: if you bear true conviction, then you will carry it with or without a Church. Hold your enlightenment and faith fast within your heart, and be neither ashamed nor fearful of reproach as you speak of or search for it. Let men be bound or freed as they will.

Argoculc, Dambaín 23ua, 1954 — Demonstrations of various sorts, both in support and opposition, have erupted in the last few hours as a direct result of the Catovegalíx's speech—which was broadcast publicly over several radio channels and then subsequently rebroadcast across many others. Almost immediately, men and women began taking to the streets in Argoculc, Taorcsos, Korisaculc, and all other major urban centers throughout the country, often carrying boards bearing political or religious slogans.

What was announced by the Catovegalíx was the total disbandment of the Reformed Catholic Church, the branch first established by the Concord of Arminium by the Dioxuverolíx and Pope Innocent IV in 1562. While it was considered to be a splinter church, it had nevertheless remained in communion with Tibur and a part of the overall hierarchy and structure of the Tiburan Church—the líx granted ecclesiastical primacy within his realms. Even so, according to the Catovegalíx (and, in truth, objective reality), it was for all intents and purposes little more than the state church of Etnaea, formed as a “political entity moreso than a truly religious one” in his words. It operated effectively independently from the Pope and the Tiburan Church proper, though nevertheless existed as a nominal part of it.

The attempt by Tiburtina's theocratic administration to join with the Tripartite Agreement is reputedly what triggered this breaking with the Papacy, with such an act harkening back to Solaren's own dangerous activity in Gallia only a few years past. Denouncing the cardinals responsible, the Catovegalíx went on to then condemn their attempts to involve themselves in “wordly, secular affairs” inasmuch as theological ones. He compared them to the tyrannical and aggressive Solaren regime, claiming this act as evidence in part for the “deep” and “dangerous” corruption of the Church and its ideals.

Throughout, he continuously beseeched the listener to see to their own salvation, and engage in private rather than public faith. Unsurprisingly, much of his speech referenced or alluded to the Catovegalíx's known political beliefs—he being famously liberal even prior to his reign. While removing the Reformed Catholic Church as an entity, he rejected the notion of a state church entirely, failing and refusing to provide any institution to take its place. Given his known support for local, unaffiliated places of worship (and, indeed, his rumored adherence to Concordism), it's been said by some that this was the opportunity which finally gave him sufficient justification to act on his beliefs.

Some have expressed outrage while others are generally supportive, but no real consensus of popular opinion has yet been gathered and it's far too early to tell what the public sentiment is. Argoculc and the Teutogatolíx's Rotunda are altogether swamped with activists of various stripes, some in protest and others in celebration. Other cities have fared similarly, with local authorities scrambling together to react and ensure some semblance of order remains. In Argoculc, a moratorium has been declared by the city government on protest permits for the coming week, and a suspension on any already issued for the relevant dates. Similar measures have been undertaken elsewhere, with Taorcsos—already filled with people due to their celebrations—having flat-out temporarily suspended protest permit laws entirely to limit arrests.

Meanwhile, both the Congusaxa and the First Senos have been unavailable for comment. Immediately following the broadcast, an emergency session was called together and is expected to go on for some time. With the Catovegalíx's decision having wide-reaching consequences for the entire nation, it's expected that the Congusaxa will be forced to pass through a number of laws or guidelines for those churches which were formerly under state authority, as well as those that had been paid or supported by the Reformed Catholic Church. Likewise, the topic of religious titles (such as bishoprics) formerly appointed by the líx or Cursignaxa estate is one which has also been raised, especially as to whether they ought to remain or be similarly dissolved.

Guiscaga, head of the Chrisdhertu Auicclupaxum, has expressed disappointment. “It's a shame that he [the líx] feels the need to remove an institution so integral to Etnaea,” and went on to add that he found it further appalling that the líx “could even make such a decision.” The heads of the Líxu et Icenum Verupaxum and the Brenniccuipaxum have made known similar sentiments, whilst those of the left-leaning parties (namely Molcagga's, Loccudos', and the Voicalíxu Vacaium) have had nothing but praise for the líx for this decision. Indeed, this represents something of a victory for the Post-Delegationist (and libertarian) Voicalíxu Vacauim in particular, for the dissolution of the state church is a topic upon has been advocated for quite extensively by it in the past.

THE Friendly Confines pray for and with the Christian Communities of Etnaea in this turbulent time, believing ever so strongly that Christ has a plan for each and every one of them. Dismantling the Reformed Church must have been one of the most trying decisions ever posed to the Etnaean King, who has followed his heart, mind, and soul (all any patriot can ask for) to a decision we ultimately support in the fullest. We go on to additionally pray for the King and his subjects that these abrupt changes in their religious methods do not break apart religious communities within Etnaea, it is in Church's of all kinds that the core of a community gathers to share their beliefs and experiences.

Argoculc, Marsaín 16u, 1954 — Now nearly three weeks into the protests, it finally looks like things are starting to simmer down. Crowds outside the Teutogatolíx Rotunda have steadily diminished since the start of the last week, with only a dedicated and zealous handful still out on the streets with their signs and in picket lines. While local police departments have had some involvement in dispersing these protestors of late, the majority have by now decided to go home peacefully and of their own volition. As it stands, there have been less than two-hundred arrests nation-wide as a result of the protests, with several municipalities temporarily suspending several statutes and laws as pertaining to protesting and acts of civil disobedience given the extraordinary circumstances.

With the scheduled emergency elections swiftly approaching, set to take place on the 22nd of this month, many local magistrates have put their foot down and begun to “reinstate order”. In Argoculc and Taorcsos particularly, the two cities' respective police and law enforcement agencies have taken to the streets yet again, once more enforcing those laws which had been put on hold. Just two days ago, both cities re-approved all statutes as pertaining to protesting, with permits now required and the customary waiting list reinstated. Though police are hesitating to make arrests, it has been announced by the Justice Commissioner for Argoculc that this “reticence will not last indefinitely”. It's expected that this measure, even moreso than the waning spirit of the demonstrations, will signal the end of these post-disbandment protests.

Mercifully, violence and rioting have been either nonexistent or relatively well reported and controlled. Some incidences of fighting, beatings, and various disagreements have occurred in the larger rallies, but the majority of perpetrators were either apprehended by present police forces or otherwise turned in by their fellows. With things winding down, it would seem to be the case that despite the length and intensity of demonstrations, very few actually perished over the course of them—for which we all ought to be infinitely thankful.

On the topic of police involvement, both throughout and now at the end of the protests, Justice Commissioner Dagicos Phagistos Vegoscca had the following to say: “We must ensure that all preparations necessary for the smooth and fair operation of this upcoming election,” he commented, “be performed without interference.” He went on to say that “mob intervention” within the republican process “undermines” it wholly. “I am very thankful that our police forces were able to maintain the peace so readily despite the difficult nature of the situation, and that

And indeed, many protestors were not ignorant to the republican and democratic process. Though the majority had come out initially either in support or opposition to the líx's controversial decision to rid Etnaea of its state church, by now the flavor of the protests have become increasingly varied and political. With the presence of such individuals as Leuxos Antista Molccaga and Caios Commodos Suros among some of the more prominent and larger protesting groups, a distinctively anti-monarchical tone has emerged among some of these rallies. Similar scenes can be observed throughout the nation, as all the political parties scramble to gather together what measure of influence they can just before the coming elections. Altogether, what had begun as small-scale protests by either those especially devout or especially loyal have turned into unofficial political rallies over the course of the last few weeks, with nearly every political party using this opportunity to strengthen their respective positions and make promises.

Preliminary polling has been fairly unreliable ever since the protests started, with results varying wildly day to day and by location—entirely at odds with historical voting patterns and context. It's not expected for this to change, not even as the 22nd—the day of the emergency elections—approaches. Though Anibalos Craissos Guiscaga of the CAP has asserted that this move will not result in any significant shift in the CAP's party line, it remains unclear what impact both the disbandment and that statement will have on the party and the majority (however slim) it currently enjoys in the Congusaxa. With the CAP leadership unavailable for comment on that point, many analysts have predicted that an appreciable dip in the party's votes will be seen; most likely in the favor of the LIV, or even the IAP depending on which demographics either party is able to wrangle away from the CAP.

Interestingly, the CAP's involvement in the protests and rallies has been fairly limited when viewed relative to its competitors. Even the LIV has engaged in some amount of maneuvering on that front, with Davicos Asccuiga Rodnos making a number of speeches during several “unofficial” visits to several such demonstrations and public worship ceremonies. Guiscaga has instead elected to wage what is for all intents and purposes a very “standard” campaign, relying on fundraising, endorsements, and community engagement over direct rally and demonstration involvement.

Of course, the efficacy of both strategies will be revealed on the 22nd. More information will be provided as it becomes available.

The NEWS in BRIEF​

IVERNIAN SHIPS WELCOMED, with a handful of Ivernian VESSELS and SOLDIERS welcomed into the military harbor at TAORCSOS earlier this morning. According to the CROWN MINISTRY FOR EXTERNAL AFFAIRS, the presence of Ivernian troops serves as an "assurance" of Ivernia's commitment to the Etnaean Kingdom and the region as a whole, particularly one which finds itself increasingly threatened by red and papist incursions. Joint drills, training, and potentially even a series of wargames will be carried out between guest forces and local Etnaean ones, for the purpose of granting both entities familiarity with one another's operational paradigms and a general sense of cooperation. A timeframe for their stay has not been established, and insofar as information is available, the Ivernians will remains for as long as they are allowed to do so by the Ministry.

GENERAL WITHDRAWAL FROM EAST CAPE, with the Catubísaxa having undergone its SECOND REVIEW of the peacekeeping mission there in as many months. Presenting the findings to the Congusaxa and the sovereign, the decision has thus been announced that Etnaean peacekeeping forces present in the newly independent south Himyari republic will soon be withdrawn and evacuated to their former staging grounds and garrisons either in Isarmorga or the Etnaean mainland. While no formal declaration or explanation has been provided as to the rationale behind this decision, some believe that it stems from an inherent unwillingness to work alongside the IDC on the part of the Catubísaxa--though in truth this is still just speculation.

RIGHTFUL GOVERNMENT OVERTHROWN, with the erstwhile reigning Duke of Bourgogne returning to his homeland at the head of an army: utilizing dissident elements within the rightfully elected government to overthrow and subvert it. Already, numerous nations have condemned the action, with Cantignia calling upon Etnaea for a joint resolution and action on the topic. At present, the Crown Ministry for External Affairs has announced that it's preparing an official statement both on the issue itself and in response to Cantignia; with the overall tone very likely to be negative.
