The Republic of Cathiopia believes it would be wholly inappropriate for Ionian soldiers to be present in the Eastern Cape after the Ionian government has granted recognition to the secessionist factions in Augustaborg.
With the deployment of the Aslyanian military in defence of the separatist movement in Augustaborg, the Republic of Cathiopia believes it is imperative a Joint Operations Command be formed. The Republic of Cathiopia agrees that ultimate approval for operations should rest with officers from individual member-states. The Republic of Cathiopia further agrees that Etnaea is invited to join the command structure.
The Republic of Cathiopia is of course willing to provide the necessary administrative and logistical staff.

Carentania seeks to maintain Eastern Cape sovereignity and believes that the dissolution of the Cape into independent minor territories will open doors for regained colonial control over Eastern Himyar, as these territories will be dependant upon foreign support. We are very worried about Asylan designs for the region as a whole and are in the process of deploying forces to check military assets propped up in the vicinity of Augustaborg by the Asylan government.
Ultimatively, we hope that both the leadership of the Augustaborg Gang and the government of Asylan will see reason and avoid confrontation over this issue. A strong stance must be maintained to ensure that these factions become convinced of the failure of their great designs and cease their destructive activities in the Cape region. The retreat of Asylan troops is, as it has become evident by their involvement, fundamental to the future of the Eastern Cape.
Considerations as to the legitimacy of an independence of city states in the Eastern Cape must also take into account the dominance of white settlers in the urban centers - land stolen from the black Himyari people by force - and the need for a political and economical base to maintain sovereignity over continued attempts to interfere in the affairs of the Eastern Cape. As such, we believe, that the dissolution of the Eastern Cape must be prevented and demands that amount to a secession of Augustaborg must be rejected in the strongest possible terms.

As such, the Republic of Cathiopia is currently negotiating the removal of Asylanian military assets from Augustaborg, and transferring responsibility of the city to Cathiopian personnel. Following successful elections across the entirety of the Eastern Cape, the fate of Augustaborg can be decided by the new democratic, independent government.

We appreciate the efforts of the Cathiopian diplomats and wish them good luck. It is our opinion that Cathiopia may have more success with diplomatic overtures than Carentania could ever have, as the Tripartite Pact members are chained by an ideologically minded leadership that deems the independence of the Eastern Cape a communist plot. Cathiopias voice in this matter hopefully can rectify this misjudgement.
However, we also hope that Cathiopia sees our insistence on maintaining a strong stance and the possible consequences for Asylan that are implied therein not as counterproductive provocation, but as an effort to pressurize Asylan and force it back to diplomatic tables rather than pursuing its current policy of hostile takeover of sovereign Eastern Cape territory. Much in the same way as we dealed with Danish crimes towards the Himyari people, we believe this to be the appropriate tool to deal with Asylan.

The government of the Free Cities League has advised the Workers' Republic of Carentania: "The Workers' Republic, if afraid of Erdenshire, then it should reinforce its garrison in the region".
Carentania intends to do just that and we hope that this is not understood in any way, shape or form by other members of this Commission to be an act directed against the sovereignity of the Eastern Cape nor intended as a military build-up against Erdenshire. It is not our intention to ignite aggressions against the Asylan naval base at Erdenshire, no matter what the propaganda of the Tripartite Pact insists upon. We have made it clear that we see Asylans posturing and recent role in the Augustaborg incident as threatening for the Eastern Cape and seek a solution that guarantuees lasting stability. Non-military options to achieve this are far from exhausted.
Unless this can be achieved, it is Carentanias intention to establish a naval base at the north-east of the country for use by Carentanian assets in the near future and to be handed over the Eastern Cape authorities in the long term. It is our sincere hope that this course of action is not met with opposition by other memberstates of this Commission.
