Aubagne Continues To See Tourism Grow Despite Trend

Aubagne

Aubagne. Famous for its beaches, casino's, world class hotels, and even fishing, has seen an 8% growth so far this year. Marquette as a whole has seen a 22% drop in tourism. According to Tourism Minister Ronald Seagraves, Aubagne can attribute its growth to the repealing of sales tax and the recent advertising campaign.

The famous Aubagne Casino, contributed nearly 100 million Joliets to the advertising campaign. The casino, which includes an opera house, plans to host the first World Opera Convention in January. "Tourism is dearly important to us. We simply cannot accept a drop in the tourism rate. It would not only be detrimental for the casinos, but for the city itself. Too many jobs depend on tourism. The investments made in advertising by the hotels, casinos, and theaters are just that. They are investments in the city and industry's future..." said Casino manager Benjamin Golstein.

The City of Aubagne has announced it intends to create major tax breaks for filming companies who seek to make films in and around Aubagne. The breaks would take effect in January.

Queen To Return 'Stolen Treasures'

Fond du Loc

The Queen will visit the former colony of Dai Viet on a very special mission. Accompanying the queen will be nearly 4,000 peices of art taken during the time Dai Viet spent as a colony. The art includes vases, tapestries, decorative death masks, hundreds of pieces of jewelry, and of course paintings. Some of the artifacts date back to around 1000 AD according to the Royal Museum of Marquette's website.

The 4,000 pieces taken back to Dai Viet will not go alone. The Royal Museum of Marquette has offered 20 of it's most prized possessions to be housed in Dai Viet's museums for 6 months and will rotate another 20 in. Dai Viet has graciously loaned Marquette some of the pieces so that after a year of being back in Dai Viet, they will return to Marquette to continue educating the world about their culture.

"It is a unique chance to rebuild bridges to a spotted past" said the Queen today during a press conference. Included in the artifacts on loan to Dai Viet will be: one of Napoleon's uniforms, Marshal Touc's Baton, several Degas paintings, and negotiations are under way for the crown jewels to visit one day.

The Greater Viet Empire warmly welcomes this step taken by Marquette to restore treasures removed from Dai Viet back to the Empire, and the initiative to better relations between our nations. His Imperial Majesty, Son of Heaven, wishes to extend his most open welcome to the Her Majesty the Queen, and is positive that the art pieces on loan to the Greater Viet Empire will serve to educate and further enlighten our people.

King To Convene International Meeting On Organized Crime
You must be registered for see images

Bordeaux

Speaking from a small from service, His Royal Highness was visibly upset. Today, the King spoke from a funeral service for a 9 year old girl, Amelie Belvaux. She was struck from a stray bullet which was fired during an altercation between organized crime factions. She was playing outside with 2 friends.

"This is an atrocity. As a parent, I cannot fathom what it is...what it is to lose a child. I cannot fathom what it is to lose a child to something so foreign and rotten to them. While the family has little recourse but to pray, I hope to pray and act. Today, I will formally set a date for a convention on how to end organized crime in our region. Her death will not be in vain. To her parents, Nikolaus and Anna, you are in all of our prayers."

During a conference about an hour and a half later from the Duke of Bordeaux's office, His Royal Highness announced that the specific targets of the meeting were organized crime which operates over international borders, weapons trafficking, and narcotics. The aim is to work together to cripple organized crime in each country. The King stated the proposed date would be November 16th and all nations were welcome.

A delegation will attend to represent the interests of Skånskige Statsunionen. We agree with our Oikawan colleagues that organised crime is a deep problem and can only be tackled with strong international cooperation.

Kingdom Honors Veterans and Fallen

You must be registered for see images

Les Invalides, Fond du Loc

The King sat quietly in the chapel as both priests and rabbis offered prayers. The room was full of nobles, military officers, veterans, and even celebrities. With over 30 ceremonies occurring throughout the Kingdom, it is the first time since 1981 that the Royal Family has visited Les Invalides.

The King made no speech instead allowing Prince Grant to speak. "We stand here before God, before many of the fallen whose remains are here. We are here today for those who gave their lives for our way of life. It is perhaps sad a day has been set aside for us to think of these men and women when we should be thinking of them constantly...." said Prince Grant who kept his speech brief.

Les Invalides was completed in 1679 and served as a home and hospital for old and sick soldiers. Eventually, Les Invalides has become a location of museums, memorials, and tombs. Napoleon I is entombed here.

Military Presence Felt

You must be registered for see images

Clervaux

Today, after announcing the city of Clervaux on the southern coast would host the Organized Crime Conference, a distinct presence of order could be felt. Around 1100 soldiers from the Imperial Guard arrived this afternoon. Roadblocks were set up around the city despite opposition from many of the residents.

"We have an obligation to protect foreign dignitaries from any threat. The National Police and the Guard will work together to ensure the safety of every single person" said Colonel Monroe Dietrich.

Tomorrow's conference is expected to last a few days with no official statement regarding length. Several delegations are expected despite threats. All sessions have been deemed closed door to the media except for the conference commencement by the King. The specific location was announced today as the Chateau du Fremer.

Colonel Dietrich has announced any trouble caused around the Chateau will be viewed as a hostile act and will be dealt with accordingly.

Citizens are to expect delays in and around Clervaux.

Clervaux is a fishing city of about 45,000 located on Marquette's southern coast.

'Military Ready For Tomorrow's Challenges'

You must be registered for see images

Fond du Loc

During his first media conference, Imperial Forces commander Field Marshal Pierre Soult conveyed a positive outlook.

"Since 1971, our forces have focused on the importance of urban warfare. It is essential we continue this practice. Tomorrow's battles may be fought in a field or a forest. Tomorrow's battles may be fought in a jungle, on the sea, or in a city. Whatever the challenge, our military will be ready for tomorrow's challenges."

The IDF has invested almost J2 Billion to develop an entire city with over 30 buildings, streetlights, telephone poles, streets, a sewage system, parked cars, and a jail. "Everything is functional. Homes, apartments, and businesses have electricity. Apartments have furniture. Schools have desks and books." said Brigadier General Yoav Schelmstein, commander of the Urban Combat School. "We expect to not only hold urban warfare school here, but also anti-terror and swat training. It is the only of its kind in the world I know of.." said Schelmstein.

The city, which has not been named yet, will open in December.

You must be registered for see images

Fond du Loc

In the Le Conseil des Pétitionnaires Royaux (Council of Royal Petitioners), Daley Ambrose Mitterand has stepped aside. Mitterand stepped down after 14 years as Chancellor and 12 years as a Royal Petitioner.

"It has been my deepest privilege to serve the King and people of Marquette. There are few words I can say that truly express my feelings. I must step down from the position of Chancellor of the Kingdom; effective December 1, 2009. I must do this for myself. I wish to spend time with my family and to enjoy retirement with my beautiful wife Edith. I am grateful to call all in attendance in this chamber friends and hope I can continue to do so. Thank you and God bless." said the Chancellor.

During his time as Chancellor, Mitterand was responsible for a total reformation of the Royal Banks and several cultural initiatives.

The search for a new Chancellor is expected to begin immediately.

Jean Rouve was appointed by his Highness today after his name was one of 3 submitted by the Royal Petitioners. While the other names were not announced, the names were submitted the day after Mitterand announced his retirement.

Rouve joined the Royal Petitioners in 1994 after spending 8 years as the Deputy Mayor of Sault Ste. Marie. He originally was elected as a member of the Orange Party but switched parties in 2001; choosing the Union Coalition. Rouve was the head of the Petitioner's Veteran Affairs Committee from 1997-2000, a member of the Government Accountability and Misconduct Committee from 2001-2006, and head of the head of the Foreign Affairs Committee.

Re-Release Of Film Which Was Banned 48 Years Ago

You must be registered for see images

Fond du Loc

In 1961, 6 months after it's release, 'Manières d'honneur' (Ways of Honor) was banned by Royal Edict. The Edict remains one of the most controversial of all time. Despite this, 'Manières d'honneur' won Best Picture in 6 film contests and Best Actor in 4 (1961-1962). The Royal Edict was issued 'to protect the the security of the Kingdom and the integrity of our Imperial Forces'. The film was fully released in Eiffelland in 1963.

In 1995, the film was released on a limited scale only to theaters for a month before another Royal Edict rescinded the film. The King signed an order Thursday allowing the full release Saturday. Copies quickly hit theaters, which were full to see one of only 2 films ever banned by Marquette. The other being a deeply anti-semitic film- La Peste (The Plague) which is still banned.

Many critics say 'Manières d'honneur' still incites insubordination and may stir up bad memories with Dai Viet.

Spoiler below.

The fictional story follows a Major Phillipe Dax Arnaud in 1922 Marquen-Viet. Major Arnaud is a Marquen officer ordered to remove the population out of a fictional large town so that Marquen citizens may move in. After completing the task under heavy protest, Arnaud is ordered to engage rebels in the East. This task at first is relieving to Arnaud but he soon receives an order suggesting he take no prisoners. The order further suggests Arnaud destroy cultural icons in the region.

Arnaud is soon disturbed by war and disillusioned by orders but cannot bring himself to disobey orders. He skirts them whenever possible but ultimately carries the orders out. Soon his own men become disillusioned and 3 refuse orders to attack. The film closes with his men, one of which has noticed Arnaud's agitation, asking him to desert and make for Volga. In the final scene, we see closeups of the faces of the men,Arnaud, and men of a firing squad. As soon as drums stop beating, we see an arm (no face shown) drop, followed by rifle fire. Intentionally it is not clear if Arnaud is being executed with his men or is commanding the firing squad.

'Manières d'honneur' is a cinematic masterpiece which delves into man's psyche. With acting which cannot be beat, amazing camera work, and a breathtaking story, 'Manières d'honneur' is a movie which is a benchmark for all psychological war films.
