Personally I'd advise you to put up a proposal in the

Though in your case I think only two other people really have a say in it. Still, it's nicer if we can make it a consensus based approach and not "I just name it this way".

This is a map of my provinces. Basically it is my first project experimenting with Flash so let me know what you think about the flash aspect.

Not finished, needs rivers and highways. Sri Rama is modeled off of SF+LA; you can see why. 12 million (out of 47 million) people live there.

Light green is grassland. Yellow green is humid-subtropical/tropical jungle etc. Dark green is deciduous forest. Brown is mountains. Blue is obvious. Purple is city.

I think the continent is a little incorrect, might need to add some water? Wasn't really paying attention there.

Geography of Wiese, including the mountain passes of the Alps and the major fortifications to the south and east; the Alpine Line and the Grenzenburg Line.

Especially if you are landlocked, like I am.

I have some plans for two, maybe three more rivers however.

This map you have posted advertises mountains in the east, which correlates with the Captaincy of Sangemuntenia (border state). Can we call it a day by saying that the mountains and perhaps two rivers make up a historically maintained border?

The mountains in the East are a continuation of the Alps (the mountain range in the south), though separated by the Rhine valley (from the fortified Braunschweig gap flows the Rhine southwards and then westwards to Sidajica, and eventually again south to Eiffelland before it reaches the sea.)

Historically the Alps (at least as far as Sidajica is concerned) and their geographical features have maintained much of Wiese's southern border for ages. The biggest change in that area was around the 5th or 6th century when the Saxones, routed by the Suebi, conquered the Tiburan province of Germania (present-day Saxony and parts of Mecklenburg) and the Alps were reached.

Although mountain passes are many, the Alps make warfare southwards (or northwards from beyond them) an expensive and unnecessary business, reinforcing the importance of the Braunschweig gap (the Rhine Valley), which is also why the Reichswehr held its exercises there.

For reference, here's a list of rivers I am considering:
  • The Rhine: From the Alps north, then south, then west into Sidajica. From there it turns south to Eiffelland. Major commercial waterway for trade among these three nations, and some sort of sea access for Wiese. (Concluded.)
  • The Saxon River: From the Upper Saxon Alps north, and then west into Lusitania, and to the sea.
  • The Serpentine River: From the Mecklenburg Alps north, then east and into Zivotinje or Greater Sarmatia, and from there wherever to end up to the sea. Perhaps Zivotinje and then Barazi, then the sea?
  • The Iron River: From the Lonely Mountain in Schaumburg west to Franken, and to the sea.
The names, except Rhine, are temporary only (though I am considering the Serpentine one.) All of these rivers are intended to be navigable across great lengths, opening up trade opportunities. The rest is going to be channels and tributaries linking these major rivers and adding variety to the central plains and around them.

As you can see, the river in Akhaltsikhe, which has yet to be named, is vital to everyday life. All cities, aside from coastal cities, are situated on the river. Abasha is the nation’s greatest port because it’s located directly on the river and just ships the products down the river right away. The river is large enough to support trade ships.

The yellow denotes areas that are heavily farmed. Because of other nations trying to starve Akhaltsikhe into submission, it became vital for the nation to produce large amounts of food. It is becoming increasingly difficult and rations have existed for nearly fifteen years.

The blue triangles denote areas that are mined by the Government. The reason not all the mountains are mined is because the Government wants to keep prices fairly high so it equates to higher revenue.

Nearly 67% of the population, overall, lives in cities. The south sees a lot of impoverished towns. The closer you are to farmland and Abasha’s port equates to the quality of living you experience. Tetri Tsqaro is an exception. The city is kept modern and well supplied because of intense Government demands.

Would it be reasonable to say that the people of the mountains are the Akhaltsikhi (the ruling ethnicity), while the people of the desert are Arabs and those in the farmlands are Arabized? That would kind of make for a pretty nasty situation with a crucial area of the country in the hands of what the regime views as its enemies. Perhaps lorded over by Akhaltsikhi landlords.

Just a suggestion, but I think it's a cool idea :p

I like that idea actually. The nastiness of the situation is quite nasty indeed!

Geographical map of Wiese

Major features:

  • das Wieserreich / the Wieser Plain: The central plain, spanning the length of the country from west to east, which gives its name to the country.
  • die Wieserreichischen Alpen / the Wieser Alps: A major mountain range in the south of the country, with several mountain passes. The valley of the river Rhine is creating a great gap at its eastern areas.
  • die Eisenhuegel / the Iron Hills: The hilly territories forming Schaumburg's principal geographic feature to the north.
  • der Donau / the Danube: A great river beginning from the Mecklenburg Alps and heading east towards Sarmatia. (into Zivotinje and Barazi, then the sea? discuss)
  • die Grenzenlinien / the Border Lines: Major fixed fortifications. There is the Alpine Line and the Rhineburg Line to the south, defending the Alpine passes, and the Grenzenburg Line to the east, originally constructed in the late 19th Century after Lan Yu's (Xhengopoleon's) westwards expansion.
