The map is an important piece of our forum but ultimately role play is the defining characteristic.

Take your time to settle in and play about a bit. There's lots of areas you can explore, expand on or create for yourself - I'm sure you'll find a place. People will help you if you need it.

I look forward to your RP. ;)

Hi all,

Not exactly new to the forum, as I was active back in 2009, but haven't been here since. Was for the most part RPing Allied States of Gotarsland, if any of you remember. Anyway, it's good to be back.

Going to be RPing a cosmopolitan city-state, with a free market economy. The general ethnicity will be Scandinavian / Western European. I am looking for a nation to have seceded from in the past (this doesn't have to have been recently at all), with some slight animosity / rivalry still there (mostly confined to sporting / minor political jabs). Geographically and demographically I will be playing a very large city with smaller 'satellite cities'.

Hi,

For Scando nations, there is Arendaal and me. Midgard (though he's not around much these days) RP'd a secession from Danmark in the 50's but retaining the Danish king - a bit like the British Commonwealth. Depends what you are thinking of though.

Well, was more thinking along the lines of major cities in China atm. Strong economy, feeling less and less connected with the central government, and a strong merchant / business class feeling like the central government is funnelling money out of the city without getting any back - leading to a secession. There can be a military conflict involved there as well, but I feel that would lead to more animosity than what I'm going for. My idea is based more on an economic secession, leading to a de facto, and then official secession. The break would have to be full though.

Welcome back! Josepania here, enjoyed that very brief RP we had together (Senatus Geaticus I believe), wish I had RPed there more.

Please note that the forum is in a bit of confusion now, as there's a strong move for us being in the 50s era rather than modern day.

Hey! Yea, was a good one. Looking forward to building up some good stories and intrigues.

Noted. Well, I really need to build up my nation idea before starting to rp, find a good spot on the map, etc, etc, so should be al right until it's sorted. Have you guys made the switch already, or are you still Rping "real time"?

Like I said. It's complicated. I barely know what's going on or what the plan is. All I know for sure is that I and my most immediate neighbors are RPing in the fifties, and a few other countries are doing the same, whereas a group of others refuse to.

Suionia is also a Scando nation (Swedish) but it's a NPC at this point. Skaraborg, that's definitely a cool scenario/idea, welcome back.

Thanks, Warr.

Well, I'd have to rethink certain details but sure, I'll go for the 50s. Might as well go with it.

Well I suppose I'm not entierly new... Sort of old-new so-to-speak. But I am a born story teller and character creator so I decided that I would throw my hat back into this race since I seem to be better settled into my life and have some free time. For he next few days I'm just going to browse around and see what's changed (I see it's gotten quiet) and I'll come up with an idea from there. Is there anything new and pertinent that I should know about?

Ah well that's interesting. Explains why it's gotten quiet. Ok well I can probably work with that.

You did. It was hilarious.

I liked the part with the moose. Mooses. Meese.

Whatever the plural is.

Hello! I am currently planning on planning an Austro/German mix, but can really fit into whatever culture works best. I have some ideas for internal RP that can be pretty much molded to whatever culture. I see the setting is 1952. Are we coming off the heels of a "great war" or something? Is that what the Solaren stuff is?

Some are treating the Solaren stuff as that, yes. As it looks right now, we didn't have a global war however - so primarily affected by that war is the Germanian area.

Currently the general idea is that, instead of a Great War, we allow a "time of conflict" to exist in the 20's and 30's, where each player determines who they want to have fought etc. A major war would almost force one side to accept being the loser, and no one wants to be a loser. Minor conflicts don't end with such drastic political changes, but still explain the large military advanced of the 30's and 40's.

As for your culture, we could use a fresh and unique face to the German area, a place that tends to be dominated by sleeping giants who have better things to do with themselves these days. I also personally wouldn't mind having another neighbor *shameless plug* but realize many people don't enjoy playing cultures so foreign to them as I do. We could also use some more Spaniards, Italians, Hungarians, Turks, Romanians, Finns, Baltics, and French. We currently have a surplus of Slavs and Brits. I'm actually very inclined to suggest that you go French. There is a perfect France-looking spot near Potenza/Lorraine, and right now the homeland of the French has been conquered, occupied and/or annexed by Engellex, which would be your northern neighbor. So you could play an Occitanian culture that broke away from Montelimar (the conquered France) or maybe Burgundian or what have you.

Anyways, welcome!

Hmm, okay. I am thinking of playing a fledgling democracy that sees the return of a disgraced ideologue. I just need to come up with some sort of catalyst for the ideologue's demise AND return.

Ah, great! Thanks for the info! I think both those propositions could work as a way to set the stage for some internal RP ideas I have (I don't want to give too much away yet!). Let me explore the map and things a little bit more and think about how I could fit in.
