Until the Flemish soldiers failed to understand the orders from their Wallonian officers, who shouted their orders in French
And then not even French French. I learned that the French word for 70 is Soixante-dix, but then suddenly the Wallonians turn out to say septante.
EDIT: Anyway, don't worry, we'll keep Wilders and the NVU at bay.
Yea I also say nonante instead of quatre-vingt-dix. Also while there were definably cases of Flemish boys dying on the battlefield needlessly because they couldn't tell what the officers said the amount has been greatly exaggerated by the Flemish movement. Regardless indeed there was a great social injustice as the Flemish were (institutionally) discriminated. Today the Francophone Bourgeoisie still looks down on 'the Flemish peasants', but I do not dwell on the past. Fifty years ago I would have probably been on the barricades for the Flemish cause, which was primarily social in nature, but today I stand on the barricades against it because it is now right-wing nationalist in nature.
