As the political race comes to an end, only two candidates seem to show the greatest appeal to voters.

Enjolras Rousseau,of the Liegeois Defense League

and

Robert Pray, Havenshire Party supporters.

President, Alfred Hughes, continues to give no support to either side of this race to become Chancellor, saying:"As long as democratic process is upheld, peace and stability should surely still to be the future of the people of Liege."

Despite the differences in the past between the french majority in the Republic, which are Catholic, and the minority of Luistanians, whom are devout to their Socialist People's church. Both groups are standing together behind Enjolras Rousseau, the up and coming Frenchman. Rousseau, the people will remember was previously in prison for his continued campaigning for the rights of his fellow Frenchmen and Frenchwomen, against the ruling English minority. The leader of the press for the Liegeois Defense League, LDL, Rainier Beaumont, has begun releasing articles, from anonymous sources, that the leading party of the Republic, all of whom are English, have sympathizes to the Socialists of Havenshire. The state press has been quick to try to dispel these rumors, which is only making the general population more suspicious of their actions and legislation passed in the previous years.

We assure the people of Liege that, whilst we sympathise with and are open to mutual exchange with the Republic of Liege, we in no way endorse the politics of exclusivism, and do not condone any policies or politics which suppress a majority for the benefit of a minority.

On behalf of the LDL, press leader Rainier Beumont, has released the following statement, "We thank the Ministy of Foreign Affairs, of the People's Republic of Havenshire, for their timely response in condemning the actions of our government. We are glad that those outside of our sovereign lands see the plight the we face. We also plan, when we take power, lifting the trade sanctions that our current government has against the People's Republic of Havenshire." The press party leader concluded with telling those listening to his radio broadcast that he will be sending a bottle of some of the finest Chardonnay from his family's vineyard at Vivegnis, as a gesture of good will, and a promise of future cooperation.

The ruling government of Liege remains silent on the subject, save for media responses condemning the LDL for their slander. Despite this larger crowds have appeared at various major cities demanding more transparency of the government.

Hours after the official response of the LDL; the HPS has made a response of their own. Their candidate, Robert Pray delivered a speech on the steps of the L'Assemblee Nationale. His speech raged for over an hour speaking out against the LDL, with their support of rallying otherwise peaceful citizens into almost mobs the government and their kinsmen. He went on to say, "And while the LDL may think that they have already won, with their promises of working together with the communists, and who knows who else, that would seek to destroy this country from within. The fact of the matter is, they have not yet won, and there is time before the votes are cast. With you assembled before me, heed my words, and continue to support us, the English who have ruled your, no OUR country for so long. Stand together with me, stand together all of you, we will continue this country on the path it has been."

There has been mixed reaction to his speech. Many citizens do not wish for things to change, afraid of what will happen. Many other citizens are tired of being treated as second class citizens, having to learn English, even though they are historically French.

No matter what will happen in the future, what is certain now, is that Robert Pray is back to leading in the polls; by 6 points, with a 2 point margin of error.

LDL, press leader Rainier Beumont, has released another statement today; citing the various affronts to human dignity that the ruling minority has been doing, in the voting area. "These fat-cats have been limiting our right to vote for years now, and only getting worse. They have poll taxed us, restricted the franchise to males, required tests, all this, and the world has stayed silent. I will not stay silent, nor will the rest of our party leadership, nor should you! you proud citizens of our nation! We have suffered in quiet solitude for far too long. Tomorrow, I encourage all those willing to join us and march through our eternal, walled capital, of Verdun. Our capital has resisted invaders since time immemorial, now the invaders sit comfortably inside the city that birthed our nation." Protests broke out in various cities shortly after, concluding in many arrests with a death toll of 54, most of which were civilians.

Following the protests and arrests, Enjolras Rousseau, the candidate for the LDL has continued to gain ground in polls. This quick shift back to how the trend was before has been credited by the mass appeal that the former Colonel has been able to amass. The various sitings of him and higher party leadership at rallies, and even among those being arrested has proven to the people that his words are true.

The current government, along with the HSP has been quick to dismiss Rousseau as a "rabble-rouser " among other names. His Most Serene Excellence, the President; Alfred Hughes had the following to say, "I know that I wanted to stay out of this race, and that I wanted the democratic process to be upheld, but I can no longer stand by whilst this man continues to try to so drastically change the status quo. Things have been fine for many years now, and every so called 'civil-liberty' that this man claims that the citizens have been 'deprived of' is preposterous. All that has been done has been done so in the interests, of national safety and security. It is my most earnest hope, that the people will see this man for what he is, a loud boy, upset with his father. I hope that the people of our Most Serene Republic, will keep to their senses, and continue to stay the course with us."

We Zamoscans sympathize with the plight of the french of Liege. We too were oppressed by the ruling elite from Atlaisk that moved to stamp out our culture and faith. Our supports stands with Mr. Rousseau and his party in these elections.

Dear, Mr. Simeoniscu

It is with a happy heart that I reply back to you. It is wonderful to see that not only can those oppressed take their rightful place as masters of their destiny, but also aid those that try to follow in their footsteps. It will be my honor in inform Enjolras of your support; currently he is out leading a rally in the fishing town of Callelongue, on his way to the shipping center of our nation at Marseille. With your support and our faith in God, Enjolras and the people of our Most Serene Republic will win in the election in the coming weeks. Thank you again for your support.

In Digne, Cardinal Myriel, bishop of Digne has declared for there to be a mourning service this Sunday. This service will be held to honor those that have died in the many conflicts in the Republic since the race for Chancellor has become so heated. His Eminence has had the following to say, "It is my hope that the faithful will be in attendance at their churches for this nation-wide service. It is such a shame that so many have died on the behalf of two men, and their ideals. I strongly urge my fellow country men an Christians to stop this mindless violence, and remember our savior, who achieved so much for us all, without resorting to such foul acts."

The Cardinal continues to preach at the same church has been with since his early days as a priest. He is known for his humility and pure spirit.

Capitalist Monsier Madeleine said the following of his Eminence, "I have known His Eminence since he was only a bishop, it was during that time he saved my life. I was just a poor man, that stole in order to eat, that changed when I met him. As pure usual of his character he offered all he could to me, I had never known such kindness. That night I left his church and stole what I could, it was my nature then. When I was arrested the then bishop, not only agreed with the lie I told the officers, but offered my silver candlesticks made of pure silver, that I forgot. It was that day that my soul was bought for God. I am proud to say that I still serve our heavenly father, and it has been a honor to finance the new cathedral that will be finished shortly. All my wealth and power started with Cardinal Myriel. I urge my countrymen to heed his words."

Sir,
Götarike finds it distasteful that the LDL would approve of the friendship from a certain country which is neither fairly democratically elected, nor internationally accepted as the rightful government of its people. We urge the LDL alienate itself as much as possible from the Zamoscan Republic, else we find that our nations may find themselves at odds in the future should your party come to power. It is important that your country hold other nations responsible for their improper actions.

Regardless, best of luck on your nation's future elections. We hope for fair and free elections.

I cannot agree more that their party should distance themselves with 'that' government, in fact they should distance themselves with any and all governments. There have been parties made to challenge our rule, all have failed, this party shall too soon enough meet its end. Naturally there will be fair and free elections, thank you for your concern.

With the race for chancellor coming to an end, the election being held this next Tuesday; the government of Liege would like to include observers from its fellow English controlled governments, to prove that elections have been carried out with the honor and dignity of the democratic process. Enjolras Rousseau commented that if the government wished to show that world that elections would be fair that officials should be welcomed from all nations, not just those of the same ethnic stock as the ruling elite. Their is no official remark to this statement yet, officially.

As a cardinal of the Catholic Church, I would like to encourage the people of Liege to stay strong, because in the end God rewards those who stay faithful and I will soon visit Liege to care for those who have been hit hard by the conflict.

Despite the vote being held yesterday for the position of chancellor, a clear winner is yet to be announced. Enjolras Rousseau along with the party leadership has been waiting in the hometown of Rousseau, Vermandois, since the beginning of this week. Rousseau has been planning to give to his acceptance speech in the town that birthed him; from his humble origins to colonel to hopeful chancellor.

Students have been amassing in cities through the Republic, most so the capital, Verdun. This movement was planned by the Student branch of the LDL, Eponine, whom with thousands of supports for the LDL, both student and civilian line the streets of Verdun. Despite the long wait, the french people are all eager to hear the news of the election. Polls have continued to show that Rousseau will win by a landslide.

I cannot wait to conduct business with you, Enjolras Rousseau, I am sure that you swept the election. It will be nice to have another French Catholic nation, I am sure that we will be great allies and I promise that if you are the new chancellor, I will aid you and your country if you are ever in a conflict or need any other kind of assistance. May God be with you Enjolras and the French people of Liege.

TRAGEDY

A scene from a current news broadcast:

"Hello all this is Jean Theuriau, reporting live from the streets of Verdun. The smoke you see behind me is from the barricades that were constructed late last night after the results of the election were in. We have with us now a man that was in the mayhem that ensued last night. Sir, if you could please, recount to the viewers back home what happened."

A man limps into view full of the camera. His clothes are disheveled, bloodstains adorn his attire, a bandage that was once white covers an obvious wound that was sustained to his head.

"My name is Marius, I am a student member of the LDL, and I have been here for days, waiting for the good news, and then last night happened. Me and many friends and others from the city were amassed not just in the square but throughout the citadel that is our capital. On tv.s and through radio messages, and what form of media I am sure, the news went out; that the LDL lost...lost by a majority...and the crowd that a few seconds before had the air of a festival quickly turned into a mob out for blood. We are not unknown to not getting our way, in fact in was a way of life, but Rousseau, he gave us hope; so many turned out to vote for him, every poll showed him the winner and the LDL taking most of the seats in Parliament, even independent parties from outside our Republic said the same."

He takes a drag from his cigarette.

"I was there on one of the barricades the lot of us made, from whatever we could find; cars, tables, chairs, random things from nearby stores, I even think I at one time saw some stuffed toys plugging gaps. Anyway, I right near Eponine, she was the one that rallied us, our student leader; it was she that was waving the flag of our party when the first round was fired. I entered her left breast and exploded out of her back. there was panic in the streets. Our own leaders sent the Red Guard, all
Englishmen of at least six foot in height, to not just break us up, but kill us. I saw babies torn from their mothers, pregnant women bayoneted, men shot down like dogs. Some us ran, others fought back, all of it was to no avail, they shut the gates, we were unable to leave the city, we were trapped like rats. I thought I was going to die, die huddled in a small loft I somehow found myself in, over looking the city. I could see everything."

Jean places a hand on Marius' shoulder, "And then what happened son?"

Tears well in the young man's face, "I saw the army, well tanks and cars and men on the ground marching to the city, and above them was our flag. I had no idea how that happened, I knew it was them, the sun had already come over the horizon a few long hours prior. I did not know if I was dead or not, all I knew was that I did not want to stay were I was. I rushed down the flights of stairs, three at a time. Right as I made it out to the main street I saw him, well them."

Jean, "Who are 'them'?"

Marius throws down his now spent cigarette and his chest swells, "Enjolras Rousseau and General Jean Maximilien Lamarque."

Jean again, "Lamarque, the Minister of War, Larmarque?"

"Yes, the very same. We all though he betrayed us, the only French Minister, we thought he too was in on it, turns out that that was far from the truth. I ran alongside the rode, many of us did. We also helped take down the barricades we put up not long ago. In the city square I saw what seemed to be the last of the EG, they were all bloody and their uniforms torn. I looked away when the volley happened. When I looked again, all of them were dead; I guess that is the priced paid for the wholesale slaughter of civilians."

"And what happened then?"

"Enjolras, no, Chancellor Enjolras Rousseau, gave a long speech to us and nation. I'm sure you know that, just as I am sure that that footage will be played for years to come. The short of it was; that the General upon that order being deliver to him, he commanded all the military to back the LDL and retake our country, from what I have heard many were fine with that order, in some cases that was bloodshed, but by the time the General and the Chancellor came to Verdun we had all of the military. Anyway, after that order he also sent word to now Chancellor Rousseau what was happening and to come to Verdun, with that, he left and the two of them, along with what LDL and military members took back not only the capital, but the nation."

"That is some story Marius, thank you."

"Sure, it's not problem."

"Now that this is over for now, what will you do?"

"I'm sure people will be celebrating for some time, but after that, I'm going back to my University, and from there, I'm not sure yet."

"Well alright Marius, thank you again. Well, you heard it here first folks, from someone that was actually here, where history is made. I am sure that there will be many more happenings in this nation of ours. Stay tuned, you will know as soon as we do. From all of us at News Channel 8; thank you and long live our new Chancellor."

Today the last of the English held areas have come back to the control of Liege; this is the latest news that has been delivered to the people and government of Liege. Since the massacre at the capital, what many are calling the "Bloody Verdict of Verdun" which cost the lives of at least seven thousand so far, many people remain unaccounted for, and the number has continued to rise since earlier this week.

In the response of this slaughter Chancellor Enjolras Rousseau has asked for emergency powers, since almost all of the previous ministers and the president have been arrested for their crimes against the people. In the coming week a trail is scheduled for the ministers and President Alfred Hughes, rumored to be the judge is party member 9679 Roland Frollo. Frollo has also been rumored to possibly take the position Minister of Justice in the new government.

Only two of the previous government's ministers are not being tried, and will retain their positions: General Lamarque and Llewellen Hall. Lamarque has long been a champion of the people and lead the military to the side of the LDL, and with his aid lead what people are calling a coup, instead of a full rebellion. Llewellen Hall, long known as a zealot, racist, and English supremacist was an unlike ally in the taking of the Republic. Hall has released this statement, "When the people started to rebel Hughes ordered me, as Minister of Foreign Affairs, to ask for the aid from other English nations, which I was about to do. Before I did though I told my wife and children to escape the capital, to go to her parents until things settled down. As I was about to issue the communiques to come other nations the helicopter carrying my family burst into flames. With that I flew the papers into the fire, and did what I could to help the LDL. Hughes made a huge mistake."

We have learned that former president Alfred Hughes thought all of the Hall family, the Minister included, was trying to flee. Since he saw that as treason too, he had the helicopter brought down by a stinger missile. Our prayers are with the Minister and the surviving family.

As more develops more will be reported.
