MISLIKA, Miedzymorze — News reports from Miedzymorze declared the spread of H3N2 Influenza in Mislika, Miedzymorze. The news becomes important to the rest of Europe as not only human to human transmission has been confirmed, but the world isn't in flu season. This brings an immediate state of national emergency to Fjäderholmarna as an influenza epidemic threatens to spread to other countries.

Axifloan officials have urged the usage of vaccinations; however, Fjäderholmarnar health officials have suggested that no real vaccination likely exists for this new strain of H3N2 Influenza which has been branded as Slavic Flu. Health officials have also expressed worry that racist tendencies in League of Free States nations may not only place undue harm to Islamic people, but also lead to an inadequate response to a clearly dangerous problem.

A response that isn't uniform by the international community could lead to errors that might create an epidemic. Worse, an uncoordinated effort could lead to wasted resources as several nations look for vaccines and supplies just may fall short.

Drottninggården has yet to come up with a response towards Slavic Flu on the day of it's international news breakthrough. The response will be difficult, but may be easy to give Fjäderholmarnar medical companies time to produce a vaccine with proper embargoes on League of Free States goods and restrictions on travel from LFS persons and destinations.

The Health Minister of Fjäderholmarna, Anders Berglund has suggested that LFS nations perhaps schedule a meeting with neutral nations so that trade can remain uninterrupted and a proper health response to Slavic Flu can be made.

The recent outbreak of H3N2 in Mislika should first and foremost be taken as that; a local outbreak in Międzymorze. Calls for a general embargo of League of Free States originated products and restrictions on travel for citizens from all LFS countries therefore miss the point that as of now, other countries of the alliance (or indeed, other parts of Międzymorze in general) have not been affected by outbreaks.

Nevertheless, Imperial authorities are on heightened alert and determined to combat the spread of H3N2 with professional determination and will be willing to cooperate with the international community to devise a global response to the potential risk of a H3N2 pandemia.

Premiärminister Enström talar om Alliansen för större Europa
Prime Minister Enström speaks on the Alliance for Greater Europe

DROTTNINGGÅRDEN — As the upcoming Alliance for Greater Europe (AGE) Summit grows near Prime Minister Malin Enström has to gear up the country for the usual difficult questions faced whenever AGE gets together for any important event. Yet when asked why Fjäderholmarna won't be in attendance, she could only respond with a smile, "Why should Fjäderholmarna be in attendance?"

The 35 year old woman has always been a warm and intriguing character that has enjoyed the love of her countrymen as well as the respect of her peers in Parliament over the past two years.

"I believe it is quite clear why Fjäderholmarna won't be attending. We are a neutral country and do not plan on abandoning that philosophy we have followed since 1811." Enström recalls, "When we first became a member of AGE's Partnership for Peace, it was a big deal, are we members? Are we aligning with AGE over LFS? This is a question not only that our citizens asked, it is something our government at the time had to ask itself. When I became Prime Minister, I had to ask myself that very same question too."

Enström who became Prime Minister in late 2007, was seen as the young inexperienced yet passionate girl who made the vote for the Social Democrats appear risky. The people felt the risk was worth it and defeated Rickard Berg's Moderates.

She believes strongly in the nation's historical direction and place in the affairs of the world.

"Our neutrality is precious. For us to ever attend an AGE Summit, even as an observer we'd be violating that neutrality. This is why I insist that all relations between AGE and Fjäderholmarna follow a very specific format."

It was in 1992 that Fjäderholmarna joined Partnership for Peace and it was done by the Moderates coalition who felt that it was crucial for increased defense prospects. Additionally it was seen as a way to better work with Scania. Enström did not turn around and rebuke the Moderates decision, but has worked within the realm of Partnership for Peace.

"I see Partnership for Peace as a key bridge between AGE nations and Fjäderholmarna. We have to remember that our best allies start in Scandinavia and Scania is a founding member of AGE. Scania does not have the same history that we do, they suffered dearly during the Great Wars. Nations like Arendaal and our own did not. We share history and democratic traditions but if anything our relations can be defined by this fact."

Partnership for Peace has been criticized, and Enström has not dismissed its critics either. When she won the election and the position of Prime Minister the flood gates opened with many wishing for the nation to leave the AGE institution.

"It's quite amazing how many people dislike Partnership for Peace, but I see it as a great avenue to not declare our allegiance to AGE, but rather to promote democracy, human rights, and most importantly European-wide peace. While we do take part in limited military exercises, the Partnership for Peace also requires a deterrent especially in the West to mandate peace. It would be my hope that eventually all non-aligned nations could join the Partnership, and thus help enforce peace, a peace that the AGE also clearly endorses."

The question that is begged to be answered though is why not work for peace with the LFS? Suggestions have been made to be more involved with the LFS to help maintain a balance between alliances and thus maintain neutrality. Enström however has disagreed with mathematical viewpoint of relations.

"Neutrality isn't about spending an equal amount of time at another person's home. Neutrality is a policy, and while we do work more with AGE, so do our closest neighbors, often to a much higher degree. If the LFS ever approached me to increase our relations I would not object. I'd in fact embrace such an approach. Our neutrality is what allows us to work with other nations and alliances in peaceful manners without repercussion. It's about maintaining a respectful, proper and truthful relations with everyone around the world, no manner who you represent or alliance you take part in." She smiled once more as we concluded our interview, "...and this is what I hope to have Fjäderholmarna continue to represent."

Belmont röster mot Fjäderholmarna!

DROTTNINGGÅRDEN — In what was called a surprising vote, the Belmontien delegation at the Council of Nations voted against the Fjäderholmarnar bid for a seat in the Security Council choosing a communist nation ahead of the Islands Kingdom.

"The Prime Minister said that he was acutely aware of the dangers posed by terrorism to the Belmontien ideals. In his opinion, religious terrorism and communist terrorism are both equal threats to Belmontien society." - JOURNAL DES DÉBATS POLITIQUES (8 November 2009)​

The most surprising factor was the fact that Belmont has had a large history of anti-communistic quotations and rhetoric, failing to foster strong relations between the far left and itself.

When questioned by our reporters, Fjäderholmarna's Permanent Mission to the Council of Nations had no comment on the issue, additionally rejecting to hold any questioning session on the topic.

The recent vote continues to put a rift between the Nordic Fjäderholmarna and Francophone Belmont which have never really seen eye to eye. Fjäderholmarna diplomats have been rather candid in the past about their Belmontien counterparts openly referring to them as aloof or misguided in their efforts.

With neutrality at it's core, Fjäderholmarna has done its best to overlook the failure in strong relations with Belmont, however, it is unknown if this blip will continue to stand as the Belmontien delegate has done a masterful job reversing its own foreign policy and insulting a liberal democracy.

Fjäderholmarna's representative Elinor Lindahl voted for Fjäderholmarna, Scania, Miedzymorze, and Kryobaijan. Currently, Fjäderholmarna rests in second place with roughly 77% of the vote.

Since former PM Plantard's resignation and Premier Millerand's assumption of office, the policy towards communism has been reevaluated.

The Belmontien mission at the CoN, in its votes for the SC, did so using a system which would allow for a nice mixture of SC members. The intention of our vote going to Kryobaijan is to maintain equal representation of all ideologies in the SC and not to offend any nation, anywhere in the world.

GÖTEKÖPING — A "run on the bank" of sorts has begun in investment savvy Göteköping, the financial capital of Fjäderholmarna. This run is on the Marquette Joliet, which began its tumble
on the 17th of December after Le Monde in Marquette reported this news the day before.

Experts say that no one has faith in Joliet anymore due to such a massive debt the Marquette Government owes. Creditors are panicking and many worry of a Francophone economic collapse as at least on the surface it appears the French speaking countries are well economically linked.

As citizens and businessmen in the Islands Kingdom sell Joliets at a massive rate as nobody believes Marquette can pay its creditors. Marquette owes and amount estimated to be several hundred times its own GDP. The Joilet has reached an all time low against the Krona at a rate of 1fkr to 500j.

With this run on the bank in Fjäderholmarna and panic among investors across Europe, it is now speculated in Nordic financial circles that hyperinflation might be something Marquette should worry about. The Joliet is being dumped on the open market for any strong and stable currency that can be found. The result is an extremely weak Joliet and this disaster may spread to Belmont's Franc and Montelimar's Livre.

DROTTNINGGÅRDEN — Early this morning reports from Godthåbland saw the formation of riots instigated by supposed Communist authorities, take control of the Alþingi (Godthåbland's Parliament) and force non-leftist elements and leadership on a plane to Drottningården to 'rejoin' their empire.

Following this peaceful revolution where as far as information has been confirmed, no bloodshed has occurred. This is likely due to the lack of a real military presence on Godthåbland.

The small island has also declared its independence from Fjäderholmarna via a radio broadcast and a fax sent to the foreign department at 2:00am this past morning that was originally thought to be a hoax. Prime Minister Enström has refused to recognize the new nation, calling it an integral part of Fjäderholmarna's territory. She has ruled out armed invasion though, as to not cause any unnecessary bloodshed.

Fjäderholmarna and communism have been at odds since an age old communist assassination of the King in the early 20th century, and numerous conflicts with Cyrillica.

National Convention!

DROTTNINGGÅRDEN — The revolution that took Godthåbland from Fjäderholmarnar rule over a week ago resonated strongly in the capital and among the citizens of Fjäderholmarna.

So much in fact that Fjäderholmarna has decided to alter the course and hold a Constitutional Convention to better ensure the future of the nation.

Communism has been an enemy of Fjäderholmarna ever since the foundation of it in Cyrillica. Nearby Kryobaijan never made it seem very far and Godthåbland put communism's sickle into the heart of Fjäderholmarnars.

"Godthåbland's revolution was a shock when it first happened and for the first few days people were looking for someone to blame. Eventually the blame laid within ourselves and we decided it was time we took our outdated systems and bring them up to the modern era" stated Prime Minister Enström.​

Currently, the Government is comprised of multiple houses (Nobles, Commons, Burghers & Clergy) that all must come to some kind of agreement to get law passed. On top of that, the Queen must sign the law giving the Queen ultimate veto power.

Many have called this ancient system the reason why many things did not happen in Fjäderholmarnar history. A failure to be able to act in the Great War, a failure to achieve full representation of all territories, and most notably the inability to remain competitive throughout history as low points in Fjäderholmarna are always dominated by arguing in the Riksdag of the Estates.

The big debate is whether or not the nation will maintain the monarchy. After that question is answered all cards are on the table.
