I think either we make the toyou slots enormous or we cut out a huge portion of unused toyou and eastern Europe. I understand the need for "ethnic clustering" but I'll be honest here, I don't think it is going to go off and change RP that much if that all if the ethnicities are brought closer.

Yes it will, it's the descend into shit tier again as we had in the past. As an admin I can't really approve any change to that one, it was one of our major successes from which I will not yield.

I'm not sure it was a success. It created a lot of empty space, and made Eurodisney tiny. It was realistic for the purposes of the globe, but useless otherwise. In terms of ethnic clustering, it failed to yield anything but white space between Asia and Europe so to speak, as lets face it nobody is interested in RPing Kazakhs, or Mongols, or whatever else that should go between the two locations.

So success? That depends on what measuring stick. I think it's actively contributed to our current inactivity and the spacing problems. But it did give off a realistic vibe, and help create the globe.

There is something that hasn't really occurred to me, is the time frame of limiting players to Eurodisney. We are going on the assumption that during this timeframe nobody outside of Eurodisney will be going inactive, players including myself. If I were to be greened off due to disinterest or inactivity, this will only further hurt the activity in the region because not only nobody is interested in roleplaying in Touyou, but they're not allowed until we've filled up Eurodisney adequately. So for that period of time, nobody can really replace an inactive country. And then when you make exceptions to the rules because someone wants to play in Touyou, then what's the point of having that limit in the first place? That would be unfair to players earlier who might not want to play in Eurodisney (for whatever insane reason).

This obviously is applicable to all continents. Occidentia (Sylvania/Auraria) is going to feel really lonely for a very long time. If you're going to be enforce this rule, at least specify secondary nations can be placed outside of Eurodisney, even if now every non-European country feels like a second tier country, as if it wasn't bad enough. Originally I feel indifferent to the limitation, but now I'm concerned about that.

I guess Touyou was not meant to be.

Depends... I didn't like what I made here, but some people did. But something "like this" might be a solution.

Let's face it, currently there is a lot of white space on the map. It needs to be clustered one way or another. I would like Oestveg's idea as presented in post 25.

I could support this.

Too many changes outside the main frequency region (Eurodisney) that aren't really an improvement over what we have right now, imho.

Looks like a fantastic compromise.

I like this map, I think it's a good lookin' map. Although I would need to move nation probably if it was implemented. :p

I would love Ostveg's map, but in this version the Arretine Empire would be totally removed.Maybe just move himyar a tad down to make room for the islands.

Bangala, at-least you have half of your country left, mine has been wiped clean off... :p

Personally, I'm of the opinion that if any drastic change to map must occur, we should just have a new map. It would allow a map to emerge in line with the concerns we have at present. Another reason for my saying so is that such a map effects players in a very arbitrary fashion, since Yujin is wiped clean (despite being an interesting arena), destroying his work which he has developed over a few years while Carentania would continue to have his storylines proceed unhindered - for the large part - although his monopoly on control on the Long Sea is severely challenged now. So if we seek change, I say we should go all out and reset completely.

If starting from scratch with an emphasis on Europe... I made this for fun:

Coro's changes are purty, but do not solve some of those problems like all them Asians or New World folks being far away from each other.

Some of those old Davy suggestions should be implemented I think, in reality not some massive redesign of the globe. In those we were keeping most (perhaps all) of current player map spots the same, and improving upon empty areas that seem problematic. As the mapmaker my goal has been to do the least harm to active players, and that still has to be my priority unless I'm being pushed out of that or even as an admin.

I don't agree with this. The current map could be fixed distance wise and left alone but removing the giant oceans and enlarging the map spots. Which is what I worked to do on my fun-draft.

For example: 'http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v239/ngbrown/nseuro/MapTwo-alphamarked_zps0077cfd5.jpg'

Distances would be huge if we made the spots so tiny as they are on our current map, but with the map I made if the spots are large enough and the continents are close, then there is no problem. The problem with our current map is massive empty areas, massive oceans, and the map locations that do exist are tiny!

I guess I just disagree that more land is the solution. Less land with more spots regions closer together seemed like the right thing to do. :indecisiveness:

Really, it's to the point where I just want to keep as many players as we can - and if we need a new map to do it, or it means keeping what we have - I'll go with that.
