CASCADIA PROJECT ANNOUNCED
Following the announcement of the Cascadia Plan by Sylvania's Director of the Interior, Bob Lemat, the governmental budget office released a statement highlighting capital outlay for the Republic share. The report shows Cascadia's share amounting to only five percent of the total cost, but will pay nearly ten percent as part of a deal for a Scarlett class aircraft carrier scheduled to be laid down in early 1954. The project seeks to create a major north-south route running largely parallel to the Implarian Ocean and connecting many of the Republic's major cities. The highway's northern terminus is the Sylvania-Cascadia border and it's southern terminus is the West March-Cascadia border. Upon crossing the Sylvanian border at its northern terminus, it continues as part of the Parkway Project. The GBO also announced a new 4 cent per gallon tax on gasoline to fund the project.

De Lacy's Carbine a Hit With Rangers

The Federal Ranger Service announce late Monday night the offering from renowned gunsmith Norman De Lacy successfully qualified in all stages of competition and has been officially adopted into service. The radical new rifle is based on a M1 carbine converted to .45 ACP by modifying the receiver and bolt, adopting a suppressed Sylvanian Thompson submachine gun barrel, and using modified 11-round M1911 pistol magazines.
Development of Mr. De Lacy's carbine began in mid-1951. The new weapon retains the overall layout and features of the Cascadian forces' M-1, in service since the 1940s. According to a F.R.S. spokesman, they “have adapted the weapon to modern combat requirements, enhancing the M-1's qualities - simplicity, reliability and relatively low production cost.”
The carbine features two firing modes: single shot and automatic fire, but is currently limited to existing 7- and 11-round magazines. The weapon can be fitted with a folding stock and is easily operated with one hand.
Official tests showed the weapon had adequate accuracy, produced little to no visible muzzle flash and was difficult to detect audibly at distances greater than 50 yards. Mr. De Lacy states noise produced by firing the weapon is in the range of 80 to 90 decibels, roughly half that of contemporary pistols.

GOVERNMENT OF SIKANDARA
Grand Council for Diplomatic Affairs
OFFICIAL COMMUNIQUE
CLASSIFIED

The Imperial Government, under the leadership of Chancellor Suleymani, is so inclined to pursue a policy of friendly relations with the Cascadian Republic, and as such offers to invite a delegation of the highest standing from its counterpart in Port Astor to meet with us to engage in fruitful dialogue aimed at a growth in economic projects for our mercantile communities.

It is our hope that the Cascadian Government will see such efforts on our part in a strictly non-political sense, as the Sikandari Empire recognises the pressures that Cascadia must be under from its northern neighbour to adopt a harsh republican policy. Though we urge the Cascadian Republic to follow the path of moderation best espoused by the Frescanian nation and avoid falling into the clutches of hyper-republicanism.

We look forward to hearing from our good friends in Port Astor.

The Realm of the Danish kingdom shall remain vociferiously observant and clear headed regarding the links between La Republique Casadienne and it's umbilic connections to the Continental Republic. These stringy and potentially cancerous connections can only be cause for concern at the level of international state relations.

One thing is absolutely concrete: any shenanigans by la Republique Cascadienne beyond proscribed, and reasonable, bounds shall be justifiably met with powers beyond it, even if it directs its orders from elsewhere.

On a more placid level, the Kingdom and Empire of Danmark is open to open talks for the future and, as such, we invite your nominated person to attend talks in Christiansborg.
