Throughout history, Schloss Köpenick had been used for many different types of conferences. In 1784, it was the place where King Lothar VII of Eiffelland and Duke Albrecht V were discussing the future of Emsland, and King Lothar got his fatal heart attack, making Duke Albrecht V King of Eiffelland as a result of King Lothar's will. Since then, many more conferences were held here. At least the meetings for which not too much discretion was needed; such meetings were held on other locations. Like Schloss Siebeneichen in Meißen, but that castle was currently unavailable—its main meeting room needed to be repainted because of the cigars smoked by a Kadikistani delegation.

Schloss Köpenick was also the place where the meeting between the Propontine Empire, Justiza, Nichtstein and Eiffelland was held to seal the economic partnership between them. Chancellor Graf von Seydewitz acted as host of the meeting. He was flanked by Minister for Economic Affairs Dr. Stephan Röpke, and Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries Dieter Maas.

The justinian government sent the minister of foreign affairs Giuliana Marghêri, the minister of trade Alduino Mulîn and the ''stall warrantor'' Victoria Florente, which with the help of its collaborators monitors the private companies and supervises the public sector of Justiza, along with an assistant.

The Propontine Empire had taken a particular interest in the meeting. To the Empire a cooperation with Justiza, Eiffelland and Nichtstein would ensure practical dominance over the Long Sea by the four countries as well as strengthening their economies immensely. The threat posed by Kadiki expansionism would also be held back by a solid axis of capitalist countries.

The Propontines were represented by Minister of Foreign Affairs Ioannis Argyropoulos, Minister of Commerce Gemistos Logothetou, Minister of Economics Georgios Kymvalios and Minister and Minister of Maritime Affairs and Shipping Nestorios Karrhaviotis. While the Propontines had wanted to dispatch the Prime Minister himself, the rapid political developments in the Empire following the February 27 attacks made it impossible for him to leave the country at the moment. For that reason the Minister of Foreign Affairs had been appointed as the Imperial representative, with full authority invested into him by the Emperor.

Also was a building from the baroque time. Actually, much of the city of Trier was built during the baroque. King Friedrich VII, who reigned from 1708 to 1733, liked military parades so much that he widened all the streets of Trier for his military parades. In present days, that turned out to have been a very wise decision: almost all streets in Trier were wide enough to let two cars pass without a problem while both sides of the road were flanked with parked cars as well. Furthermore, the main roads in the city all contained three lanes per direction. Chances were small that King Friedrich already envisioned the introduction of the car in a time that not even the steam machine existed, but some people think he did.

Trier had two airports: One near the city centre that was only open for propeller planes (Tempelhof), and one outside the city (Schönefeld). There were plans to close Tempelhof, but that had not happened yet.

The Chancellor heartily welcomed the delegations from Nichtstein, Justiza and the Propontine Empire. He knew that he would have to be a bit careful towards Giuliana Margheri from Justiza, so he did. The guests were offered a good lunch first before the meeting would start.

OOC: :icon_confused: "being careful" does not mean "bullying" :icon_frown: It means that he will be very keen on NOT bullying her and make sure that he won't say anything that she could consider an insult! Bah! Why am I always misunderstood? :icon_frown:

Von Seydewitz was satisfied with the cooking staff. Very satisfied. It was important to him to always be a good host, and not only for political reasons. Therefore, he considered it very important to serve a very tasteful meal to his guests.

After lunch, he opened the meeting.

“Ladies, gentlemen, once more welcome to Eiffelland, and welcome to Schloss Köpenick. A few weeks ago, the governments of the Propontine Empire and Justiza closed a commercial treaty that would open a great deal of mutual economic opportunities. Soon afterwads, the government of Justiza indicated that they are interested to open this treaty to other countries as well. Also we see the opportunities of an economic partnership between Justiza, the Propontine Empire, Nichtstein and Eiffelland. Therefore, we invited you here to start such a partnership. Not only because of the economic benefits, but also because of the recent conflict between Justiza and a country that had been in isolation for many years: Kadikistan. Justiza already experienced, and in fact Ivernia is currently experiencing, Kadikistan’s plans with the world. Those plans make clear that we have to defend our right of self-determination. That is something we can only do together, according to me.”

OOC: I think it would be better to get things started.

Minister Argyropoulos was pleased by the opening remarks of the Graf, choosing to voice his approval.

"I am in full agreement with the Graf. Kadikistan, due to its sheer size and the obvious disregard of its leadership for international law and order, poses an enormous danger to the entirety of Europe. And since our nations are at its southern, more easily accessible border, we are faced with the very spearhead of Kadiki expansionism. Our nations certainly differ in forms of government, ideology and objectives, but I do believe living or dying under a Kadiki boot is not among the priorities of any present in this Schloss, nor those of the nations we represent. However it is not only the fear of the Kadiki that could and should unite us; as nations with geographic proximity in a culturally and economically active region such as the Long Sea we have old and strong bonds in trade and culture that we could and should harness for our common benefit. After all, due to technological progres, the world is moving closer and closer, for better or worse. Whether we decide to accept that and use it to our advantage as early as possible is entirely up to us and I believe we have a great chance at doing just that, right here, right now."

Victoria Florente took the word
''I am more than pleased to hear your words, friends, as it has already been said by the honorable minister Ioannis our nations are very different. but, if the minister allows me, I would not consider this as a small obstacle to a future of great friendship but rather as one more reason to get closer.
Like any building or machine even governments and economic systems made by us, imperfect humans, can have flaws that lead, with the passing of time, to oblivion; but a dialogue between our peoples, our cultures and the economic excellencies of our lands will give us the opportunity to take the best of our respective systems, working together under the banner of friendship will ensure our separate worlds to adjust and resist to the inevitable test of time.
This friendship will be the beginning of a new Europe, and will ensure us all wealth, stability and security, things that, however different our forms of government may be, will ensure happiness to our citizens.''

“You are both right, Mrs. Florente, Your Excellency,” Von Seydewitz replied. “Indeed, we must not only unite out of fear, but also because together we can achieve more. And indeed, our differences can turn out advantageous. Because we all look at a problem from different angles, somebody may see a solution that somebody else does not see. And let us not forget that the perfect system does not exist and will never exist. But let’s proceed to signing the treaty.”

OOC: And now I realise that I forgot Bourgogne :icon_confused: I’m really getting old. Or I am overworked. My apologies for not involving you in this, Bourgogne.

Demos, Justiza, ICly I also have very many economic and political ties with Bourgogne. I would like to allow him in this treaty as well, if he wants to. What is your thought?

(OOC: Sure thing, I have no problem with baguettes accompanying our current assortment of bratwurst, pizza and souvlaki. Nichtstein seems to be in bear hiatus though  I assume the terms are the same as those me and Justiza had?)

"I assume the terms of the agreement, at least pertaining to economics, are identical to those agreed upon by our Empire and the Republic of Justiza not too long ago? Those terms being the elimination of port charges and tariffs. Or would additional measures be accepted?"

(OOC: let's get this thread going again! Eiffelland; Justiza; Bourgogne; Nichtstein )

"That is, but we are open tu consider new propositions, let's not close this meeting so quickly. We also wouldn't mind to discuss about some military cooperation, let's use the great opportunity that this meeting is at full"

"Perhaps we could forge soe programmes to boost cooperation between our munitions and arms industries, as well as joint exercises to enchance the cooperation of our armed forces. A joint intelligence exchange programme could also prove crucial in defending ourselves from from the expansionism and machinations of Kadikistan, as well as any other potential threats. Finally, a defensive alliance could help us ensure our joint safety, as together we would form a force too great for our potential enemies to dare opposing."
