War Headlines:
Rebels Retake Vibbralsea Pass
Bomb Attacks In Capital
Five Police Shot Dead In Monkopolis
The notorious Vibbralsea Pass, which overlooks Vibbralsea and so controls one of the main roads to Port Troy, was today overwhelmed by Communist fighters. During fierce fighting in torrential rain, the United Coalition suffered heavy losses. According to military sources, the communist terror overran several batteries and captured 15 heavy and 8 light guns. Immediately after the battle finished at around dusk, over 2,000 extra troops were sent to Vibbralsea from Port Troy.
Two bombings shattered the peace of Deep Monkton today. The National Hotel was bombed, with 15 guests and three staff killed, and the building burnt to the ground before the afternoon rain calmed the fires and allowed police to attend. This was coordinated with an attack at Peace Square, exactly five years since the Coalition renamed it from its former name, Red Square. Eight police were wounded in the incident. "The new level of coordination that has been evident shows an increasing threat from the terrorist group the Rebel Corp," reported Supreme Commander Daskill of the Deep Monkton police force.
In Monkopolis, five policemen were shot dead in an attack later claimed by the Rebel Corp. It is thought three terrorists dressed as a stageband to hide automatic "Tommy" guns in violin cases and pass a security check point. The men are still thought to be at large within the "Green Zone" in the city.
