I don't think alliances are actually that predominant an aspect of the setting yet...they exist, but they are not the primary actors in RP. So perhaps possibly a second map showing alliances, but I'm not sure about putting them onto the main map. I'd like flags to return to the map, though. And capitals. Mhhh, flags.

Flags frankly don't look that great on the map, and usually have to be scaled down to such an extent that there's almost no point. Kyle tries to just keep nations thematically colored (ex. Ivernia is green, Carentania was red), which I think is the better aesthetic for the time being. Perhaps some effort can be made to put in some capitals, major cities, and perhaps even prominent trade lanes along similar lines as the Danz maps of olde.

I would hate to lose Ivernia's green actually. I think Xen was right that unions and alliances are not really at the forefront of RP to merit the main map being coloured so.

I think we could do flags and capitals, though collecting all of your capitals in one place may be difficult if some people don't have their profile filled out. Either way I'll try it this weekend. As to the alliances I do like alliance colors, but agree that the alliances are not yet prominent or many enough to merit delineation.

I like Ionia's blue too and I'd hate to lose it. Though once again the idea of capitals is really nice and actually useful in RP.

Capitals if desired should probably be posted into the application thread just like regular map change requests, so that Kyle doesn't have to go through all profiles to dig up capitals. Capitals will naturally fill the map over the next few map updates then I think.

I am in favor of the inclusion of capitals, major cities, trade routes and flags, as well as potentially, in the future, alliance colors once they become more prominent, so as we have a more dynamic and exciting map.
