As follows are a listing of some popular [or long-lasting] publications from within the Boreasic Compact. I will be updating this publication listing [this post] incrementally with updated information and also with publications which are popular within Specific Regions.
[The] Duncrk Wilyr- Originating from Duncrk within Dveria state, the Duncrk Wilyr [Literally: Ranger/Courier of Dun-Carrick], the Wilyr is the foremost publication within the Dveries/Dveria Known for its sometimes rightest and rural-ist take on politics, it has a strong following in Dveria, Kilkerry Isle, and Western Warre and was the third to begin publishing English editions of its publication.
It's editor has been known to spout almost racial rhetoric about Celtic [specifically An Lyric] supremacy, and has been imprisoned no less than seven times by the State Police within Dveria over attempts to commit 'ancestry crimes' upon germanic descended Boreasic peoples. Additionally, its editor has been banned from Tenemine for acts of 'terrorism' therein, though highpowered (And ironically enough germanic) lawyers have kept him from the headman's axe, for now.
Lumina's Lantern- The Capital of the Compact's favorite newspaper [and its current longest standing]; Lumina's Lantern is known to be the most moderate and fair-balanced within the nation on issues outside the nation- and is rumored to have the largest subscribers list internationally. It is known for keeping track of those currently considered for being awarded citizenship for outstanding service. While it has a weak following outside of Lumina itself, Kilkerry, and Duncrk also have strong followings, and it is the strongest mainland written newspaper within BallyBrenden, Tenemine, and Kayah Tanah.
UiRyan's Voice- A paper published by the UiRyan Clan, this paper originates out of Stormmaigh [Stormhold] within Rygard- and is the paper most viewed as biased within the nation; though it has the courage to say what others might not. Previously called 'The Hound's Howl' by the UiRyan Clan's Bearhound Corporation; it was rebranded after the corporation was called out for using it as a 'tool for the UiRyan clann and nothing but.'
The Warre Guardsman- The paper with the highest domestic distribution within Warre and the-whole of continuous Boreasic Compact, the Guardsman also is the rival for Lumina's Lantern's followers within Tenemine. The Warre Guardsman is known to have a slightly right leaning militarily- left leaning economically and domestically viewed grouping of writers and editors, but tends to moderate other views.
Tenemine Truthhound- The closest thing the riochta of Tenemine has to a 'national' newspaper, the Tenemine Truthhound was once known as the 'Tenemine Shepherd', but had it's name changed following critics inside Tenemine and outside of it criticizing the paper as one which should really be called the 'Tenemine Warhound', based on it's aggressive editing and it's long standing far-right and pro-Boreasic imperialistic agenda. It is read by political analysts in the mainland as well as some right wing readers such as those who read the Warre Guardsman; but often criticized.
And indeed, when the ever-ready to fight Tenemine Shepherd was called that, it replied with 'Tenemine men are always ready to be warhounds, war hounds for the truth!' and thus the current name of the paper was born, the next issue of the paper calling itself 'The Tenemine Truthhound' and continuing since.
The top Compact, Boreasic, and possibly world-wide producer of comics, or 'graphic tales' as they tend to call them, Havok! comics originated in the 1890s when the 'Old Lyrism' movement was gaining steam, and archaeologists, families, and many others began inflaming a fervor of nostalgia for that time, especially the murals and tapestries which were used by the Old Boreasic, 'Lyric' peoples; the ancestors of the modern Lyrican nations of Bantyr, Caorachstyr, Carnachia, Dveria, (the) Ivernia(s), and Warre.
These tapestries almost always told epic stories- and given the costs of filming and transporting movies, those graphic minded storytellers within Boreas whom could not gain the funds necessary to tale movies, or even direct plays or radio-stories, took to the pages of the published work; creating the first graphic tales, comics, and indeed graphic novels (ooc; At least in Boreas, assuming someone wants to bitch about me 'claiming' such a thing. )
This led to great popularity, and the Havok! comics publishing companies soon found themselves telling tales in non-Boreasic langauges, particularly the English tongue- both as a teaching tool for schools and would-be speakers of English, and to expand the cultural influence of Boreas on the English speaking world. In addition, while the Boreasic language editions still exist and are published throughout the Compact, English language versions have largely taken over national supremacy in publishing, both as an aforementioned teaching tool- and because it is viewed that the same edition can be sold throughout the region with some folks understanding it, though these English language versions are always included with an alternate side version which is in Warreic Lyrige, the most prominent of the Boreasic Lyrige languages within the Compact.
