My fellow President @OHPOfficial has called for a detente with member states of the #PressburgPact, and I commend her for her principled commitment to peace, and can confirm it's absolutely true member states of the #HermandadOccidental strive for peace with our fellow Europeans.

I ask, though: how can there be a true, equal peace when Justosia, an associate member of the #PressburgPact refuses to even recognize San José as a legitimate and sovereign nation? Why should we trust any overtures and declarations from nations that refuse to treat us as equals?

This must change. @RealJustForeignMin can praise President Poole all he wants, but until a shift in Justosian foreign policy towards San José is made, I remain skeptical of their intentions. We wish to be treated as equals, not subjects or vassals, of the #crownsoftheeast.

1/ As part of #studentsingovernmentday, I am taking questions summited from primary and secondary students across #laserenìsima.
2/ Our first question comes from a first year student in Nuovo Porto: "why do you wear that hat?" Starting off easy for me, thank you; the corno ducale has been a symbol of the office of the Doge for more than 900 years. It is modeled on the Phrygian cap, a symbol of freedom in the ancient Tiburan Republic. So I wear it because it symbolically links our modern republic to its ancient roots, because it is a highly recognizable symbol of our country, and because I like wearing fancy hats.
3/ "What were you before you were Doge?" asks a fourth year student from Nuovo Porto.
I served for two years as Prime Minster, I also had many other jobs in government. I was the Chancellor of the Exchequer, which means I was in charge of our country's budget; I was also the Minister of the Interior which meant I was responsible for dealing with our country's natural resources and infrastructure like roads and ports. I also served as Deputy Foreign Minister, meaning I helped when our country talked to and worked with other countries.
4/ "Why do you not go by your actual name anymore?" asked an eighth year student from Jatara.
Your parents probably all remember me as Raul Ndobrigazzi, but, following tradition, I took the name Clemente when I was elected Doge. This tradition dates back a little over 200 years when we first stared electing average citizens as Doges. Before then, Doges were only from aristocratic families, so their family name was a mark of prestige. Once that was no longer the case, Doges opted for more regal sounding names. I continued this tradition because it shows that any citizen can be elected to any office.
5/ "Where are your parents from?" asked a second year student from Nuovo Porto.
"My parents were both born in Nuovo Porto, like I was, but my Father's parents were born in Himyar. My Mother's family traces its roots back to the canals of Radilo. I think my family history is an important reflection of how diverse and welcoming our county is.
6/ "What do you think about #Post-Delegationism?" asks an eleventh year student from Nuovo Porto.
When I was asked years ago, back when I was a politician affiliated with a party, about my ideology I answered "I am a Communist, not a Marxist." I meant that I supported the policy agenda of the Radilan Communist Party, but I did not hold that there was ever some ideologically relevant force behind it. Policy mattered. I did not care that shipping companies made a lot of money--good for them. I did not care that the banks were profitable and were not owned by workers. I did not care that we were not working towards a pre-determined, abstract idea of a utopia.
7/ I cared that we were able to get additional money into the child tax credit. I cared that we were able to improve working conditions in shipping yards. I cared that we were able to make the bureaucracy more efficient, so citizens had an easier time getting access to services and getting the government to help them--regardless of whether that citizen was very rich or very poor. So, to answer your question, in general, I like the policies of self-determination, democracy, and the promotion of human dignity. But as to the particulars of the ideology... I don't really care all that much.
