@Joe, I said it because 'IC/OOC' do mix all the time, if you like someone more OOCly than another who could give you a similar IC situation, you're likely to jump to the one who you like more, and favoritism stems from this all. I'm not paranoid, just stating my preferences.

Going by that logic then, anyone, no matter what, will be biased and open to their friends' personal requests of map alterations. Hell, Sinhai could be a current example considering the times I and others have asked him for map alterations. So in the end your objections to Khalistan are moot or, at best, restricted to completely personal objections, whereas professionally he's likely no different from most any other potential mapmaker.

Regardless, don't want to argue with you anymore on that here, cluttering up an already cluttered mapthread.

As I've said, I will not take the mapping position unless Sinhai/Xyrael resigns, or Xen asks me to. I'm not interested in a map coup. That said if I'm not mapping, I am slightly serious about having UDO/Cantigny take up the job.

That said, I want to give Sinhai/Xyrael another week. If that fails, I might suggest having a competition where the administration and the forum members choose the map they like best from a field of 3 or 4 different mapmakers who also post the rules of their mapping styles alongside their map. I think it's important we get map updates but we cannot set a dangerous precedent here. That being, we cannot have calls for a new mapmaker every time the mapmaker goes a little bit inactive. That said, what compounds this situation is "reloaded." A lot of changes occurred and he only posted one update and failed to even just update the map. Sometimes an ugly rough sketch for an update is better than nothing if not to show that you are working on something better, but would like to get some claims a lot of the way due to the situation at the time.

1.) Sinhai/Xyrael should remain mapmaker at least for another week, probably until mid-April.
2.) We cannot just have a map coup. What if Danz gets the job blows a tire, and doesn't update for a month. We throw him under the bus too?
3.) The Administration hasn't said a peep, and has deleted imposter maps. It's quite clear the administration does not find this a terrible problem yet.

As for you all arguing about ZOMG who should be the next mapmaker, they all have faults. For example when Danz was mapmaker he'd bully the membership, be reluctant to add changes for players he didn't like. (Remember Wendmark/Dagomba's inability to have anything changed on the map?) When I was mapmaker I perhaps preemptively removed players who I thought were in "desired" mapspots, and kept changing random coastlines of vacant territory. (Some argue I added islands for myself, but I still argue I didn't do that I just took islands that nobody would ever claim and I asked if anyone had a problem with that, and nobody peeped. :x) Warr has pointed out supposed problems with Khalistan. I'm sure somebody might have a problem with UDO, but eh, I think UDO is a pretty cool guy. eh moderates stuff, trolls peopel and and doesnt afraid of anything.

So... everyone shut up for a week and see what happens. Then launch some fancy democracy attempt with guidance from the administration. (by this I mean entirely based upon the last map Xyrael posted, so we don't get retarded alterations and stuff.) We NEED to keep the shape and structure and plots of the map largely the same. Too many map changes is causing problems for RP.

No. its a month to the day that this thread was started, wait wait wait while claims continuously stack up Instead of making one person the mapmaker why not have a team? Also someone suggested someone take over until sinhai comes back. Why not do that at least? Obviously Sinhai most likely didnt mean to disappear for weeks on end so eventually he will come back.

We are working on a fair & balanced solution, of which we will have come to consensus and implemented by Wednesday.

As far as 14 pages of this, calm down folks. This sidebar discussion makes it difficult to hone in on real map requests, so have some faith and let us get the right thing out there.
