In an effort to bridge gaps through the artistry that is film, the Monterfil Film Festival is once again looking to feature the great talents of the world. Giving voice to different writers, genres, and messages, Monterfil provides a platform for appreciation and dialogue. From political thrillers to dramas, Monterfil brings nations together and the arts to the forefront.

Restrictions: Films shorter than 70 Minutes will not be considered for a Dauphin Award. Documentaries are not considered for awards outside of Best Director.

FEATURE DESCRIPTION:
After a failed career as a baseball player, Felix (Andrew Grant) returns back home to the family's sheep ranch in the Grans, in northernmost Natal. Instead of a family happy to see him back he returns to an envious and jealous brother (Lucas Cooper), who feels threatened, and a father (Cameron Cunningham) who still feels that he abandoned the family's business to follow what he calls an idiotic dream. His only support in this environment comes from his mother (Emma Campbell) and an old friend.

Aquarians and Beachbums is a review of the events and subcultures that transformed Natalian society so much back in the 1960s. The documentary follows the rise and fall of the Aquarian subculture, which was supporting worldwide peace, free love and the legalization of all sorts of drugs, while the Beachbums represented the first phase of what will become Natal's world famous surfer culture.

PLOT SYNOPSIS:
Adapted from the writings of the first President of San José before he would lead the Collectivist Revolution of 1950, this is a dramatization of the journey Augusto José Constanza (Rudolfo Esteban López) would take through the Grand Archipelagic Republic with his best friend Pedro de Montoya (Bernardo Nunez) on their old, reliable motorcycle, observing the inequality and corruption throughout the archipelago that would later inspire Constanza into taking part in a revolution. Along the way, he would meet and fall in love with his future wife, Maria Fernández Castillo (Alvira Díaz Calvo), who'd further inspire him to think of the future rather than focus on the present.

Plot Synopsis:

It is the last few months of the World War. Henri (Corday) is on leave after training. Soon to head to war, his mother (LaFountaine) sees the same headstrong man that was her husband- killed in the first weeks of the war. Simultaneously, her other son has left her for a monk's cloister. Through the film, we see the anguish that Henri has and his perception towards his mother. The film takes one to a dark and seething place full of questions and sadness; focusing on the hard truths of life that cut both ways.
