Cardinal Renard elected Pope Stephanus IV - DOMINICI CITY — Cardinal Alexandre Renard, Primate of Aquitania, was elected the new pope Tuesday evening in the first conclave of the new millennium. He chose the name Stephanus, the forth Pope to be so named.
Stephanus IV, the first Aquitanian pope, emerged onto the balcony of St. Peter’s Basilica, where he waved to a wildly cheering crowd of tens of thousands and gave his first blessing as the church's pope. Other cardinals clad in their crimson robes came out on other balconies to watch him.
“Dear brothers and sisters, after the great Pope Marcus Clemens II, the cardinals have elected me — a simple, humble teacher in the service of the Lord,” he said. “I entrust myself to your prayers."
In Bordèu, where Renard was archbishop, the Grand Duke of Aquitania offered his congratulations, calling the new pope "a man of great wisdom and knowledge."
Alexandre Renard was born Nov. 3 1941 in Dax, Gascogne to Jerome and Madaline Renard was orphaned at 9 mos, old when his partents were killed in a Freiheit bombing raid on the city. Placed in the orphanage at the St. Mary's convent in Charleville, it was there where Renard was raised and schooled with many other war orphans. At the age of 14, he was accepted at the Templar School of the Poor Fellow-Soldiers of Christ where, upon graduation he was awarded the rank of Aspirant in the Grand Ducal Army.
Though qualified to enter the Templary Military Academy, in 1960, Renard entered the Royal Seminary of St. Bernard in Bordèu and earned his doctorate in theology. He took his perpetual vows as a member of the Order of Christ's Templar Friars and Preachers on 2 October 1969, and was ordained to the priesthood on 22 June 1972.
Renard served as prior of the Templar priories of Le Puy and Bordèu, and later provincial of the Province of Guyenne. He was also professor of fundamental moral theology at the Royal Catholic Institute of Bayonne before being called to teach the same subject at the Royal University of Bordèu, where he held the chair in fundamental moral theology from 1994 to 1997.
On 20 March 1997, Renard was appointed bishop of Langon by Pope Marcus Clemens II and received his episcopal consecration on the following 30 April by the Primate of Aquitania, Cardinal André Quélen, Archbishop of Bordèu.
On 10 November 2004, Pope Marcus Clemens II chose Renard to replace the retiring Cardinal André Quélen as Archbishop of Bordèu and Primate of Aquitania. On March 1, 2005, Renard was created a Cardinal by the Pope.

Accords Signed; Freiheit War Officially Over - Aboard the Breotish aircraft carrier Shadow of Intent the representatives of the Free Otchi and Coalition Forces met with the representatives of Greater Sarmatia and its allies to discuss the future disposition of the former state of Freiheit. Though the details of the meeting have not been released, an accord was signed creating the Sarmatian controlled Niemcy in the north and an Aquitanian administered Otchi State in the south. Freihiet General To Stand Trial - General Adolf Dieter, Commanding General of the Freiheit Southern Army, who was captured during the Freiheit campaign, will stand trial for not only war crimes against Aquitania, but also for crimes against the Otchi people.
Dieter, who was responsible for the attack on Aquitania, who refused to cease his offensive even after his government capitulated, has been charged with numerous crimes against the Otchi including attempted genocide as he has been accused of ordering the continued extermination of the Otchi, even after the government had collapsed and under his own authority.
Some expect that Dieter, as the only high ranking official of the Denever-Faust Regime, captured, he will likely find himself paying a greater price for his crimes now that the Sarmatians are unwilling to allow extradiction of any others captured in the north.
