The Tribunal Strikes Back. Assets of 2 political parties frozen
The war between the political parties that led the Civic Front and the Ribamar Tribunal continues. After the Assembly Commission dismissed the main prosecutors from the "Dictatorship Trials", the Ribamar Tribunal started a new investigation regarding the politics of the biggest party in Beira and the main leader of the Civic Front during the days of the Civic Process, the Partido Azul, and it's smaller offspring, the Partido do Povo Unido.
After a person whose identity was kept anonymous came to the Agency of Fiscal Administration and to the Anti-Corruption Directorate with a series of documents showing the embezzlement of state owned actives that have been transferred from the ownership of the state to the ownership of the Partido Azul. Those transfers have been made during the tenure of Chancellor Manuel Perahia, in the late '80s. From the ownership of the Partido Azul, those were then transferred at the orders of Chancellor Perahia to the newly formed Partido do Povo Unido. The document also states that the party was formed at the orders of Chancellor Perahia as an extreme right-wing annex of the Partido Azul to attract reactionary elements from the Beiran society towards a party whose role was to always be in a coalition with the Partido Azul. While the laws of the Civic Front stated that the front united all the parties to keep the country stable, it seemed that Perahia started to see the cracks appear in the unity of the Front during his tenure as chancellor between 1983 and 1994, as he foresaw the fall of the Civic Process and the need of the Partido Azul to compete in free and democratic elections.
As a result of the denouncement, the Anti-Corruption Directorate has started an investigation and at it's call, the Ribamar Tribunal, the main tribunal of the Confederation has frozen all the assets of the Partio Azul and Partido do Povo Unido presented in the documents. This literally has crippled the PPU, as more than 80% of the buildings owned by the party come from the said transfers. Around 15% of the buildings and assets of the Partido Azul have been frozen.
"This is a clear strike at the democratic process of this country. One week before the vote and here we are, our allies, the PPU must vacate their buildings while we must vacate nearly all our buildings in the state of Vila Verde. Let it be noted that Beira still lives currently under a dictatorship of a deep state, which twists and turns without caring of the lives of the people. Coups d'etat have become more subtle. Gone are the days in which we could have seen tanks on the streets. Now coups are organized in tribunals and parliaments," stated the Chairman of the Partido Azul, Danilo Pinto.
