Boumerda rejoining the Veridian Compact?
As Tòiseach Olibhia MacAnndra visits Boumerda on a trip aimed to revive relations between the nations of Caledonia and Boumerda rumours have been swirling around circles closely related to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs that Boumerda could potentially be rejoining the compact almost 35 years after it left in the aftermath of the Chostangea crisis.

For many years people had thought it would be a question of when, not if, Boumerda rejoined the compact however as time passed by people seemed to be less optimistic, or perhaps just less bothered, about Boumerda returning to the group.

Now as Boumerda is potentially on the track to rejoining, people have been wondering what impact it will have on the economy, the people and also the future.

While we can only congratulate a people on reconciling with its former colonial masters and meeting their once-time oppressers as equals, free from their old shackles - a fortune we ourselves have been forsaken till this day - we must express our concern that any such rapproachment carries with it the risk of bringing imperial influence back to proudly independent Himyari soil. Caledonia is a faraway, scanian country with little place on the shores of Himyar. As little place as it had when it violently controlled our neighbours in Boumerda. Though it is certainly not our desire to interfere with the hard-fought independence of the Boumerdan people, we wish, in the spirit of greater Himyari friendship, to offer the advise not to allow the Caledonians to once again gain an economic, political or, worse, military foothold in this continent.

Signed,

Boumerda returns to Veridian Compact!
After successful discussions between the Prime Minister, Lazaros Mantzaris, and the Tòiseach of Caledonia, Ms Olibhia MacAnndra, Boumerda will be finally rejoining the Veridian Compact more than 30 years after it was kicked out following the Chostangean Crisis.

In a statement the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that "it is with great pride that we announce that Boumerda will begin the process of reintegration into the Veridian Compact after 3 decades. The impacts of this deal will affect all corners of Boumerdan society in an extremely positive way."

The Prime Minister has also spoken on the deal stating that it shows the "great progress that this government, with the National Popular Movement at the helm, has made."

Many of the Prime Minister's political opponents have riducled him for this statement though with the leader of the largest opposition party, the Democratic Socialist Party, said that "the Prime Minister is trying to make this seem like a great political victory when in reality this was going to happen no matter the government because the truth is that Boumerda has more manpower than it's fellow members combined and they obviously want to try to use this great resource to help themselves and not us."

Feminists cheer as nationwide ban on miniskirts ends.
In a shocking announcement today the Royal Palace in New Dunadd announced that King Marwan XIV has signed a royal directive ending the ban on "provocative lower body garments", mainly miniskirts, which was put in place in 1966. The news has been cheered by women, particularly young women, up and down Boumerda as a step in the right direction.

The ban was originally put in place in 1966 as a temporary measure to please the heavily Islamist parliament at the time which wanted to force women to cover their body in all public spaces. However, back then the King repeatedly vetoed the law due to it's conflict with his more liberal values. Instead he put a ban on "provocative lower body clothing" via a royal directive which managed to appease the parliament. The ban was never removed however as any rumours of the King doing so always caused outrage among the Islamist's in the nation.

The ban had not been in practice in many urban areas, particularly Chostangea, since the early 1990s as public opinion in these areas steadily became more and more liberal.
