D. José Carpa, is known for its connections with the Neo-Septembrist, and it is regarded has a "very progressist" Cardinal.
He defends that the mass should be celebrated in the national language of each country, so the attendents may understand the "word of God". He defends also that the impetus came from the large changes in the contemporary world, which, as "signs of the times", demanded to be deciphered in the light of the Word of God. In this way he desires to promote the expansion of the Catholic faith and a healthy renewal of the customs of the Christian people, and church discipline adapt to the conditions of our time, a fundamental orientation to demand a more participatory role for the Catholic faith in society, with attention to the social and economic problems.
Very unliked by the other portusgalian clerics, since must of the portusgalian church has connections to the Integralist side, and are Ultra-Tradicionalist. His greatest enemy among the Portusgalian church is the Archbishop of Braga, D. António de Almeida. The See of Braga, is the must oldest one in Portusgalia, and one of the oldest in the world. The Archbishops of Braga are very influent in the Catholic world, and have the title of "Archbishop Primate of the Gauls", wich means "The first See among the Gauls". The Patriarchate of Lisbon is more recent, and dates back to the 18th century, to the reign of D. João 5th. Since then, the Patriarchs of Lisbon and the Arcbishops of Braga live in rivalry.

Cardinal Gregorius Fidelitus is popular with Valkanians both at home and in colonies. He is a very progressive but at the same time very zealous Catholic who seeks to defend the faith from Anti-Popes but also advance it. He helped with peace negotiations in both the January Revolt and the Eastern Cape War and is responsible for aid being sent to countless nation in need across the globe. A man of the people he is very popular with both the youth and the elders. he is liked by almost all Valkanian clerics and has no real enemies within the church because of his peaceful and loving nature. He has helped the Valkanian Catholic Church like no other by taking measures that turned corruption in Valkany's Catholic Church practically extinct, has improved the face of Catholics in Valkany and the Eastern Cape and has increased the numbers of Catholics through his "reaching God through love" program. He preaches that all should love one another like God loves us all, that all work should be for the general benefit and good, that whatever belongs to a person should be shared with his close ones, that we should help and not take advantage of those in need and that the only way for society to really change is for people to change and find god and not through any social system no matter how fair it is. His teachings and life are similar to those of Saint Basil the Great. The Churches of Zessionsford and Dimitrisburg have overcome their differences after the reforms of Emperor Demetrius XIV and himself.

Cardinal Sizan Werter's bio:

About: Cardinal Sizan Werter was born in 1893 to relatively poor parents, and struggled to stay in school. He was forced to drop out in the seventh grade but understood that his parents could no longer afford for his education. He helped his parents with their local shoe store for around 4 years, and his life changing experience came when the Pope at that time visited Central Centralia for the first time in 1909. The words of the Pope inspired Werter to join the priesthood and he soon was ordained a priest at age 23. During his time as priest he was known for decentralizing the church and rather going out to the poor because he knew what it was like to be in their shoes. He spent hours talking with them and having conversations with them and the homeless. In 1919 he was made the Bishop of Golarsen, where he further continued his work on the poor and making the church available for everybody. Every day for lunch, he would go out to the homeless on the street and sat down and have lunch with them. If it was raining, then he would invite them into his office where they would share stories and thoughts. During the Civil War of 1927 he largely supported the movement and helped spread the movement through his words and actions. In 1930 during the revolution, he was appointed as Cardinal. As cardinal he worked for equal treatment of the poor and of all people, regardless of race or class. Werter was the driving force in both modernizing and simplifying the church, and he was known for his intolerance for corrupt and lavish priests who would build luxurious homes for themselves. During 1930 through 1937 he was forced to excommunicate 30 priests, which appealed to many because it dissolved corruption for the most part in the church. After the revolution he became a relatively liberal Cardinal and encouraged everyone to aid the poor where he organized massive food drives and held talks with the President so that homes could be built for the homeless. He also believes that God is a tolerant God and will allow anyone in his Kingdom regardless of religion, as long as they are morally in check. He has helped thousands across Central Centralia join the Catholic Church. He says that if he is elected Pope, the first thing he will do is hold a mass for the homeless in the Holy See. Rather than 'encouraging' people to do this or that, he will personally live a life of humility and will go out to the homeless on a daily basis and continue his famous lunches, just as he has been doing. He does not supoport conservatism and regards it as too oppressive and too focused on providing the best material possessions for one self. He calls for a simple life and above all, a church for the homeless and the poor.

Cardinal Hiram B. Hernidge is a strict conservative adherent to Tiburan Catholic traditions. Since arriving at Conclave he has largely ignored his fellow Cardinals, instead consulting the Master of Ceremonies and canon scholars to interpret past precedent on changes of technology - primarily the printing press - or how it affected the Church and its Holy Father. Previous inheritors of Saint Peter's triple crown had yet to embrace radio or television technology, which Cardinal Hernidge himself detested as human indulgence; still, God's next selection would have to be fully aware of how men and women of this day were communicating, and more importantly how to spread the Holy Word using these technologies. Cardinal Hernidge did not believe he should or could be the next Pope, if he were to receive any votes he planned to carry his following over to another as soon as possible. Still, the notion that no clear Tiburan candidate existed disgusted Hernidge to no avail, it stunk of dilution and fading of vigor from Tibur itself.

Background on Cantigian Christianity Struggles

In the 1500s Cantignia had been the site of Europe's most horrific sectarian conflicts in history. Radical Anabaptists rose up in the thousands around then the Kingdom of Cantignia, throwing out nobles and clergy alike in preparation for what they believed would be judgement day. Executions, orgies, and mass starvation dominated a long dark Cantigian winter as Cantigian nobility appealed to neighbors to go on crusade. By summer a Germanic and Vistrasian Army arrived, superior in number and training to the radicals, yet not so fanatic as to believe they were living out judgement day. Sieges dragged on, and the campaign to the coast - where organizers of the uprising met in Vesper for a 'final reckoning' - lasted until near the end of the year as the inner city starved once more in the winter. Those attempting to desert were executed on the radical side of the wall, and murdered for heresy if captured by the crusaders on the other side. When the Crusaders finally pressed their siege, the organizers either committed suicide enmasse or attempted to blend in with other survivors of the devastation.

Easily identified as the organizers after a horrific series of public torturing and further execution, the surviving Anabaptists themselves were disemboweled and burned; their bodies were displayed until nothing but bone remained, those bones then collected and preserved for display within the Vesper Cathedral. High above the walking masses or moving cars, the cages that these men and women died in are still on display to this day as a warning of the Church's wrath, or in a more modern sense where violent radicalism leads to. What survivors of the old uprising remained, most went far out of their way to appear pacifistic to the core - coining phrases such as the "Friendly Confines" to describe the new Quaker Vesper. In the New World however the ploy was uncovered to yet again violent consequences when Catholics followed Cantigian Pilgrims to colonies such as Sylvania or Beautancus, where the so-called "Quakers" were reliving their ancestral radicalism in a dangerous new world. Since the 19th century however, the struggle between Cantigian Catholics and their protestant counterparts has been remarkably more peaceful - especially in the homeland - the break in this new rule only coming up now after the August Catastrophe, where an uprising of Christian Communists tests the peace again.

I did so right after you posted. I was withholding my vote because I wanted to make a post first and to see if I could use my vote to strike a bargain.

Well I did cheekily vote for myself, something I now regret having read the biographies of other candidates and not posted one myself.

Now that there are clearly a top 2 Popes with Cantignia's and Cathiopia's cardinals, I think there should be a new vote between one of the two popes. It's really just my suggestion but you don't have to have a new vote...

We would have to vote again anyways even if it were 4-3-1-1-1 etc. anyways, right? That is not a clear majority in any event. I say we RP lobbying each other somehow, because my character voted with extending past the first day of elections in mind. To get 2/3 of 10 the candidate would need . . wait for it . . 6.66666666667 votes.

Cardinal-Archbishop Adrianus Johannes Meindaerts, the Prince-Archbishop of Hillegom.

Few politicians, and fewer members of Christianity, have enjoyed, like the Prince-Archbishop Adrianus Johannes Meindaerts, the rare good fortune of living to see their pre-eminence in their own sphere unreservedly acknowledged by their rivals. For the Prince-Archbishop, despite the post-war nation-state creation which shackled Hillegom to Bernisse and Vlistland, he is without an earthly master in the Prince-Archbishopric , it is his personal kingdom. Such recognition is not readily accorded in Lisse, and the Prince-Archbishop achieved his victory not by appeals to popular interests of the people of Hillegom, but by the intrinsic merits of his political enterprises against Leidschendam. His approach is less direct; his position always fortified by ample research; his power of public and private presentation prevents the ceremony of the Tiburan Catholic Church from ever appearing dull. He is inspired by a commanding sense of the dignity of Tiburan Catholic affairs, and makes his followers feel that the true interest of the church lies not in personal details, but in the realisation of the importance of great and grand issues. Moreover, the issues taken up by the Prince-Archbishop are never approached in the spirit of bipartisanship; those opposed to him or his position are wrong, and the politicians in Leidschendam regularly experience the pressures of that policy from the city of Hillegom.
